  1. Then again, Ted Kennedy chaired it a while back.... Don't be surprised when big-group decisions make no sense to the individual.
  2. Just in the way that 'Adam and Eve' as Locke called them, were positioned in the cave. Implied they loved each other as they were lying side by side (Question remains did they die at the same time? Or were they placed there?). There was also the bag, which contained two small, smooth (polished?) stones, one black, one white. Here we have Bernard and Rose. Bernard is using black rocks to form an S.O.S. signal. (Aside from the obvious, Rose is black, Bernard is white). Rose is healed by the island and even if rescue boats come, she says she won't leave and Bernard makes the decision to stay too.... Does anyone suppose that 'Adam and Eve' elected to stay on the island? --- I also think that with the food drop, the Lostaways are now forced to accept that someone knows that people are on the island, and tho they provide food, they're all right with people dying while being forced to participate in their experiment. Up to this point, it's been possible that a plane or boat might pass; this was a revelation that there's some entity that wants to keep them there and can probably block any attempts by rescuers. If they want to get off the island, it's going to have to be at their own intitiative, not Dharma's.
  3. OK, so I saw the ep, and I'd just like to ask everyone... - In the last scene, was anyone thinking "Hey, that sounds like Arzt from the finale last year!" when it was Michael whooping through the woods just before he passed out? - Could the situation with Bernard and Rose be similar to "Adam and Eve" from the caves? A lot of similarities, esp. w/in the continuing Black/White theme.
  4. It actually was Dr. Prescott's ride, despite the Longfellow(?) poem. Revere and a man named Dawes were caught and detained by the British.
  5. No, no, no! All of the Iran problems eminate from the President's precocious daughter eating too much chocolate ice cream in the White House kitchen. Once Libby starts eating carrots, they won't want to threaten us anymore. Don't you watch "Commander in Chief"!?
  6. Hey, you stinkin' liberal! When VABills says 4 x 4 = 256, don't you dare question it! Psshaw, you liberal!
  7. GuessWhozBack21 left that ellipsis there b/c he doesn't want his gf/wife/friends to read the rest of his sentence, which continues, "my binky." (By the by, what dev/null doesn't know is that comeupance tastes like strawberry shortcake. So I've heard.)
  8. Painted on dev/null's bedroom wall in gigantic black lettering is the following: Picard < Kirk
  9. EndZoneCrew sings "Dirty Water" non-stop, all day long.
  10. Nervous Guy loves squirrels, and trees that block his southern sky. (Oh God, I'm gonna get banned for that one.)
  11. Anyone imagine Saban shuffling through the halls at Dolphin Park muttering like Rain Man, "Circle 80, Z-formation Eagle. Yeah. Circle 80 Z-formation Eagle...." I realize the life of an NFL coach is busy and that "Hellos" in the hall can sometimes lead to idle chit-chat when what he really needs to do is concentrate on his job, but there's a line b/w being busy and being an a--hole. It would be poetic justice if his hair catches on fire one day and no one says anything.
  12. JP Losman thinks T-80 looks great in little red shorts and his dirty hat in the back pocket. Doesn't matter if he isn't on a tractor.
  13. I made some good-natured buddy-banter remark about his girlfriend last fall. Now, my postal carrier thinks I'm a perv; they come in black plastic labeled PEI, but they know what it is. I just keep them for the articles. Yeah. The articles.
  14. Hey, you wuss, I got passed over too, and you don't see me bitching about it! Oh, wait....
  15. In this year's edition of Roget's Thesaurus, "stevestojan" has officially been added a synonym in the Sh--, Crap, Kaka, and Poop listing. This was due to the volume of its common usage on the Internets, only the third such addition of its kind.
  16. kegtapr drank wine in college.
  17. The most I've got is a field goal tee that was laying on sidelines of our old stadium on campus, now used as practice fields. I sometimes do some recreational figgies. If our kicking game sucks next year, you'll know who to blame.... The guy who got a five-finger discount on a cheap PVC rig. Getting seats like that for your room must be awesome. Tho, I would've poured some concrete and made a real stadium seating thing in front of the game TV.
  18. Correction: They live in sand that literally smells like sh--.
  19. I read (and saw a photo that backs it up) on MSNBC that Lendale White is WOEFULLY out of shape and gained some serious weight. He thought he could cruise into being a high-paid athlete and that he doesn't have to work out. He's a slacker. And b/c of this, he's not going to be picked in the 2nd.
  20. He obviously hasn't seen this month's Playmate, Alison Waite. NSFW (ta-tas). I love brunettes. Too bad her turn-offs include the traits of most anyone who posts on PPP. (One of my buddies signed me up for a subscription as a practical joke.)
  21. I graduated 2 years ago, and have also been in a specialized construction job (stone walls, which I learned over summers), self-employed, where the pay is all right and it's rewarding work... but times are tough. Gas prices are soaring. I work w/o health insurance --- just can't afford it, so if I blow out a knee or drop a stone... I. Am. Screwed. I could try to go legitimate and get a job with them but in a lot of companies that do this, it's the dirty little secret that they hire illegals who will work for a lot less. Not many people want to pick up and stack 100 pound stones for a living. I've been looking hither and yon for a job that will use my education more (my major is pretty unmarketable here at the present, and I've grown to hate it anyway), and on paper I'm underskilled and overeducated. I'm at a very real crossroads in my life. The Dem platform is one that makes little sense to me. On one hand, they want to protect the American worker with unions, penalizing companies who move offshore, etc. Look specifically at who voted for NAFTA; it was Bill Clinton splitting from his party and Republicans. How successful it's been for businesses, who knows, but it surely hasn't been successful for the people who cross the border. On the other hand, they live or die with the minority vote, so they have to pander on issues such as this. So they end up trying to be all things to all people, just as Kerry came across in '04. If they just took a harder stand combined with the mindset that you have to earn your way, I would have less of a problem when I'm in the voting booth. But they don't so I'm forced to pick and choose. And as much an **** Darin is , I am a little dubious of their education stance, but the Libertarians are the ones who are making the most sense. I just think we're conditioned to expect too much, and that we don't have to work hard to get it.
  22. Adjustment to the service-industry (what is it, 85% now?) that the U.S. has become. When a country doesn't make tangible products, expect this to happen b/c competition for said services rises. Our main export is ideas, magazine articles and movies.... and no-talent American Idol contestants who are "pursuing their dreams" rather than doing something productive. It is a plasticized circle-jerk. We left a balanced economy behind a while ago. It's a mitigating factor, I think, that these people cross the border to work, usually in hard, physical jobs. How can you entirely blame someone for wanting to improve their lot in life? Note: I'm not saying this excuses breaking the law, nor am I saying I want illegals here to take our jobs. The legislation was written with this in mind, but the issue is how 'compassionate' should we be? I lean toward "Not very." But it's a problem with a lot of causes, some of it the immigration itself leaving fewer people in Mexico and other countries. Their governments are not doing enough and don't have effective solutions, i.e. take all the land from the rich people and give it to the poor people. Try providing quality education. Grow food. Build roads. Produce fresh water. Build homes. But it's a problem of, 'Everything is f--ked up, so where the hell do we start? B/c in order to do this we need to have that, and before we have that we need to do the other...'
  23. My soon-to-be sister-in-law's mother was here from the West Coast and we all went to dinner tonight, so I only caught the last 15 minutes. But, this is a teevee show, and I'd rather have something of a life that's not scheduled around Wednesdays at 9.... And no, don't have tivo, don't even have cable. Came in at the point where Rose was at the healer Isaac (Was it just me, the accent, or do all Aussies look the same, but that wasn't the guy who turned Kate in, was it?). He said that there was something in the ground --- geological, magnetic, who knows --- there that could heal people. Didn't work for Rose. Do the link, the island has these things. And she knew that Locke had been in a wheelchair..... Question for people here --- how many of you would stay on the island if it meant you were healed? Is that why the Others stay? Is that why they Michael is back. Says the Others are relatively unarmed and that they can be beaten. Cue on Sawyer to get the guns..... Question: Is this CrazyBizarroMichael who's brokered a deal to get Walt back, ala Rousseau?
