Under the couch? .... Or did that good-for-nothing Daniel Danielson put it up in the attic? Except that the comparison wasn't so spot-on and absolute four years ago? Newsflash, Mr. Merhi! The only reason that the Palestinean 'suicide bombers' don't kill 3,000 people at a clip is that they lack the means, not the motive. Better that he's not on a legislative floor, and the state party leaders did the common-sense vetting they should do.

You guys are going to have to stop making fun of Moulds for his projectile drooling problem. Otherwise, someone who's been registered here for 3 weeks is going to say you'll all be removed from the forum, and you won't ever earn any money again, b/c you don't join his EM fellation. Tsk, tsk. I believe the next argument in this line is, "Think of the children!!! Dear God, won't ANYONE think of the children?!!?!?"

Buried? It was on the news here. And notice that it was well after press time for most newspapers. Maybe the reason why people bash the media for not having any "positive news stories" is that they don't read (or watch) it in any depth. The past several "good news that's not reported" threads, I *have* read and seen it reported. And I'm less well-read than the average bus driver. Good news for sure, after all the sabre-rattling that's gone on there in the past. Thing is that when Musharraf eats one too many double-cheese hamburgers or the next assassination attempt is successful, all hell's gonna break loose.

I didn't know he had one. -
Not meant to be a political thread, just funny. 'The Smoking Gun' link. Four cans of Diet Caffeine-Free Sprite? Can anyone tell me what the incentive is for this drink over water? The bubbles? On a side note, you should see Jerry Lewis's diva list when he does a charity event. Saw one when a relative worked security at Paul Newman's camp for kids. Big-screen televisions that he can take with him when he leaves, coolers full of bottled water, fancy shampoos and skin lotions.... Fuggin unbelievable.

My first thought was that he was playing around with his three daughters. All the headlines go to Catholic priests and the altar boys. The abuse of young girls is the church's (and I mean this in a non-centralized, non-denominational way) dirty little secret, b/c so few come forward. -

I don't know how much of it is the feeling of "entitlement" to a job, as much as it's protesting those companies who hire and fire on a continual basis so they can escape having to pay health insurance, retirement, etc. Here in the States, we belittle anyone who doesn't start saving for retirement at age 20 b/c they will be woefully behind and never catch up if they start just 5 years later. You can easily dismiss this as 'lazy youth' but I doubt the French are any lazier at their jobs than we are (spoken from someone who humps 200-lb stones around 10 hours a day in wall-building season). Sure, you say, a kid who works hard doesn't have much to worry about b/c they'll prove their worth and they won't be fired... but that's not necessarily the case. Companies don't really care about turnover nowadays; it's the norm, and if they can save a few bucks, they won't bat an eyelash. This smacks of age-ism, and if one lived there and heard the whole story rather than 5 paragraphs, you might have a different take when you read the tax codes and get into the nitty-gritty. And then there's the sidealong argument -- Why they don't pass a law that says anyone 50 or older can be fired w/ no reason given? You know, b/c people slow down, become less valuable as their skills decline, get costly diseases.... -
As the creator of this thread, I would have to ask for this stuff to piffle, take it to PMs or whatever. This is for discussion of the episode, not the viewers thereof. Thanks.

I don't know if calling them 'evil' is really warranted. Charlie had his moments of weirdness, but then again Claire had the baby baptized; might just be a thing where Claire wants it to sink in that he is not the father and he won't be raising Aaron, which Locke took to an extreme. As for how Sayid was acting toward A-L, I would say that's par for the course for someone who shot Shannon. How he's reacting to the Henry Gale situation, he doesn't take the security of the camp as a light matter. That too. And by what he said in that last scene, it was too well thought out for him to just be making up a possible scenario. Nevermind that, Why would someone under suspision say something like that? No doubt in my mind that he's an Other, but if on the off chance he isn't, that was a stupid thing for him to say to people he wants to believe/release him.

I'm wondering if that 'grammatical' was there from the script. Someone not knowing the usage of 'your' possessive and the contraction of 'you are' really does not merit them writing a Thank You note, much less another episode of LOST. You can really tell that the ep wasn't very good just by the lack of much talk about it (here, and elsewhere, I'm noticing).

Supreme Court limits cops' right to search That's rich, considering that last year it didn't matter to him if all of the occupants were saying "Get out!"... a city or town can confiscate (with financial restitution) said man's castle to give the property to another man so he could build glorious tax-generating buildings on it. I am with Roberts on this, especially as it applies to domestic violence cases. As he wrote, "Sharing space entails risk." If one occupant says the police can enter without a warrant, essentially a cry that the police are needed here, they should be able to. This ruling seems only to advantage a person who has an immediate reason to hide something, over the objection of a co-owner/habiter whose safety could be at risk.

Also, anyone notice the typo on the translation when the doctor pulled up to Sun in his car? It read, "You're husband...."

A well-deserved e-pat-on-the-back. That and $20 will get you a beer in some restaurants. -
I have no problem with the plotlines developed tonight, so I’m not ragging on that, but the dialogue from these writers Kim and Sarnoff just wasn’t on par with Lindelof & Cuse or Fury. The Sun/Jin storyline sets up another ‘special’ child…. I was getting the reading that Sun only said she was happy that she couldn’t get preggers b/c of Jin’s thinking that “it was going to make everything better.” At the end, she smiles and puts her hand on her stomach. But it is getting kind of trite how Jin is presented at the start of a story to be all bad-ass and destructive only later to see things how we all want him to and be the doting husband. With Sun’s learning English, I was snookered at first thinking it was something more, but it was a genuine friendship with the guy she’d been dating before she met Jin. (I think he may have hinted at something being possible, but hey, he's a guy.) So, Jack says Sun should tell “The whole truth” and then tells Kate that nothing’s going on in the hatch. I’ve thought ‘Henry Gale’ is an Other from the start. It’s been set up to make you wonder whether he has been telling the truth, but that last scene when Jack let him out for breakfast… doesn’t leave a doubt for me. And even if it does show the balloon in the preview, that doesn’t mean that Henry hadn’t joined up with the Others. The Hurley/Sun scene was pretty good. " I just found this lying in the middle of the jungle...." But, as I wrote before, next week is big.

Finally, we get back on schedule! I don't think there'll be m/any more hiatuses from here on out. Eight episodes left for a whole season, and the finales are now tending to air in late May. One of these writers was responsible for a 'Meh!' episode early in the season... But from what I've read, next week promises to be good w/ Lindelof & Cuse. T minus 1:15.

Guard -- Neal Tackle -- Draft, probably in the 2nd or 3rd. RB -- ? S. Williams ain't that bad a backup! UDFA for camp fodder. WR -- Late in the draft, if not an UDFA or a June 1 cut. DT -- Draft. Ngata or Bunkley or ... ? DE -- Mid-late draft, if at all. LB -- Probably an UDFA SS -- Don't know if Baker is going to get a shot here, and we did sign someone, but I could certainly understand Marv taking Huff if he's at #8. You forgot (don't worry, everyone does b/c it's not sexy): FB -- Matt Bernstein with a 3rd, if he's still there. I'm liking Marv's approach. Don't have to blow up the whole thing. And I'm also hoping he continues the trend of bringing in UDFAs and giving them a shot.

And yes, like stuck says, take a good look at the place. Foundation is something you don't want any problems with b/c it's a bad living condition and expensive to fix anything. I worked the concrete gig for ~5 years. If you've got any buddies or family in the construction trade, bring them along to take a thorough look before you get serious.

My brother's browsing the market right now, and don't hold me to this, but I'd get your own real estate person (or you can do it yourself if you don't mind all the hassle), offer the 158K and see what their realtor's offer back. Back in the '60s my father got a listed $15K lake cottage for $7500 after his initial offer of $6K. Took a couple of months, but the people wanted to get rid of it quickly like your situation. Different times, I know.... But always offer less, b/c you can go up. This all changes depending on the house-buying competition in the area. If there's lots of buyers, that nudges it up close to the asking price.

Bait, fly, spear, lures, worms, rubber, stink bait, ice, pier, dynamite, electrolysis (for those stupid enough to try these last two)... you name it. To borrow from Twain, fishing is a good boat ride ruined. Nevermind that in most places, you can't actually eat the fish you catch nowadays. PCBs, mercury, and who knows what else in the water.
