I'm guessing it's a quote by everyone's favorite fictious mailman and "Cheers" scholar, Cliff Clavin. ----- I thought he signed a longer-term contract earlier this offseason but maybe I'm just remembering something that never happened. Sounds like either the Bills were seeking a discount b/c of the relative inexperience or Peters and his agent are holding off b/c they think he'll be very good this season and he'll get a big payday next year.

Had to read an excerpt of that for a lit class and after the semester was over, ordered it online. It was Michael Herr who wrote that screenplay, n'est pas? Basically a stream of conciousness, that you have to read about five times to really get exactly what he's writing about. But once you do... Fabulous account of the innanity, the horror, the hilarity and the sorrow. My uncle, who was about 1/2 mile south of the DMZ when Tet started, read it and upon handing it back to me, said, "Yep."

Stupidest idea I've heard in a while...

My brother's FTO last year called in the bomb squad when he saw a wristwatch lying on a backpack on a call they went to. Is it just me or is everyone wound way too tight? Not to mention that a lot of people have very high opinions of themselves as high-value targets. These people have never heard of useless saturation marketing? Use some fecking common sense. -
Write. Eulogy form (even if you're not delivering it), a list of the things you remember, things you did, a letter to him.... It's rare that I tangle with a blank page with a pen as my only weapon and walk away not knowing more about what I really think/feel about something, someone, or some decision I make.

1) Someone should tell the reporter that the lawyers didn't "avoid murder charges." They made it so the charged murderer got away with it in criminal court. 2) Someone should tell the reporter (and editors) that OJ Simpson doesn't really matter anymore. Why is this news? 3) WTF does "natch" mean?

About the only bright side I can make out of it, is he might live to see the Islamofascists soundly defeated and Bin Laden's head on a stick.

Wow this video shows how bad...

I'm ashamed that the Buffalo Bills actually paid this man a $2M roster bonus last year. Combined with his piss-poor technique of getting blown back by DTs, he showed several times that he would not stick up for his QB when he was getting chased down and pounded into the turf (esp. that play in the Atlanta game). Some people here are ragging on the OT we picked out of Virginnie for his temper, cheapshots, etc. Some might call it dirty; I call it making the opponent not want to get to the QB. What the h--- is it? -
You say that now, but once all the vagina monologue movie previews start, you'll come crawling back for one more "Boo-yah!"

Was it the group that sang with Paul Simon on "Graceland"?

And when you look at the career-span for a RB, TH lasted longer than the average of ~ 2 seasons... then, we got a 3rd in a trade. Not bad value for him (even tho there is a sad chew-'em-up-spit-'em-out quality to the story), I'd say. But then, that requires someone who types for a living to realize that not every RB will have a 15-year career like Emmitt Smith.

Shake hands with the Flyers players, or with each other? ... 'cause, !@#$ the Flyers! Also nice to see Day-Twaa brought down a notch.

Charles Robinson's draft grade

Paul, I finally had to put Barry Brady/Fake-Fat Sunny/Pyrite Gal on ignore. Not b/c he's a prick, but rather b/c my brain hurts after reading his posts. Talk about someone seriously needing an editor. Brevity is a virtue. -
I'll see dev/null on the and raise him a .

Prisco Grades Round 1: Bills = B-, Jets = D-
UConn James replied to Lurker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Living in Patsie-land, I can say that Mankins did start right away, that was somewhat dictated by the situation (nevermind that the Pats seem to have a system where they could plug in my grandmother at Center and not skip a beat...). And I wouldn't say "very good"; more like "above average" at this point. He took quite a few holding and false start penalties last year, something Bellichick wasn't pleased with on his segment on the "Patriots: All Access" show the local affiliate has. -
Only three Guards were taken yesterday. Don't know if that's a censure of the quality of the position this year, or that teams are just waiting and stocking up on other spots. McNally has gone on the record that he's not enamored/dazzled by high-round picks, ala his input on getting Preston and Geisinger last year. Not sure how smart that is and it takes someone with a bit of an ego to say he doesn't need a prospect. Some names are left, but I wouldn't be averse to taking Setterstrom late or if he's an UDFA. Decent size and he was durable (never missed a game --- something we can't say about our guards of late) at Minnesota.

11 September 2001 was a 'disaster of a day.' Today is a day when you just have to shrug and grab a beer. -
I'd say they now have a pair of OL we're going to have a tough time with for the next 7+ years.

Draft Day ! Remember To Complain Bitterly
UConn James replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
League sources tell me that Marv is going to use it to draft Tim Russert as the next Commissioner of the NFL I just didn't feel right including it in the list b/c he's not going to be on the football field. -
You poor... poor man! The judge sentences you to a lifetime prescription to Wellbutrin.

I heard he only scored a 1 on the Wonderlich. And he doesn't have a good 'bubble.' -

My mock draft for the Bills is so good, I'll publish it right now! 1. D'Brickashaw 2. Vince Young 3a. Matt Leinart 3b. Huff 4. Bunkley 5. Ngata 6. Vernon Davis 7. A.J. Hawk 7. UConn James I'll be disappointed and disavow the Buffalo Bills forever unless Marv can draft all of these guys. -
The most important question, however.... Has the retatta been sprinkled with pickle juice? Otherwise, it's like calling the stuff in the pot 'chili' when it doesn't have a few dashes of Lawry's, black pepper or some hot peppers. Or as Jeff Foxworthy likens to a man who's gotten a vasectomy --- "You can point it at anybody now; they don't care!" All of retatta's lethal qualities derive from the pickle juice. I'd do my part by flirting with LanaK, asking if she "wanted to be strung up with me in one of Rousseau's traps ," but you know, she lives in the Pacific Northwest and I live in the Atlantic Northeast, and not on Lostaway Island. My dashing good looks, lottery-bolstered bank account, knowledge and creativity, and 9 inches would surely scare her off. Plus, I never really liked Crayonz anyway.

Where's that fyou smilie.... But, really. Jane Austen spun a good tale, and Emma T. did an excellent job to put it in movie form. And just b/c it doesn't have nudity and swearing, but so what? I'd party with Emma T. any day; she's got that whole humorous but eminently classy air about her.

Hmm. Good thread. In "Stripes" when the recruits first get to boot camp. It starts off with the stuffy Captain, John Laroquette, bumping into a metal stake on the ground, and saying "Have that removed." One of the best takes of that movie and it was an ad lib. Then, Warren Oates as the drill sergeant; he played that to a T. One that'll probably get me laughed at here, but Emma Thompson's screenplay adaptation of "Sense and Sensibility" was phenomenal. I look at that movie not in terms of individual scenes, but the whole work --- much like seeing the whole building rather than an individual brick. Pretty much all of "A Fish Called Wanda." Especially any scene with Otto. The auction house scene in "North By Northwest" always gets me, with Cary Grant trying to be an ass so they'll call the cops. "Scent of a Woman" has a few (Pacino sure can take that role of the angry man and he ran with it there, all the way to a deserved Oscar).
