  1. Maybe that's what Saban meant by "positive gratification."
  2. Had been a battle of field position that we were losing, up to that.
  3. WTF is up with these refs and the "Opportunity to make a fair catch" crap? They have a 3-hour conference on it this week and want to take it for a test drive?
  4. No, no, no! He's a "Playmaker." Ask him, he'll tell you!
  5. That Rian Lindell.... putting KOs 5 yards into the endzone. He really sucks.
  6. Devnull is keeping it on the down-low.
  7. That threat works every time, for every man.
  8. I can corroborate the ice situation as it gets closer to Rochester. Don't know where that kind of cut-off line is. Relatives ~50 miles east of the city get bad ice storms every year. One time the power was out for about 2 weeks.
  9. See, I don't know what you're trying to say with that sentence. Anyone from a state with high taxes cannot factually point out that taxes are high in another state? ... I am personally 'in big trouble' for chiming in on the subject? ...
  10. SnR, I was saying that, in almost all cases in how anyone looks at tax rates, you were right in saying that NY is one of if not the worst. That part about CT was just... what's the word... inspiration on my part for a state governed by a woman who's getting by on being slightly less corrupt than her old boss. Stop laboring in misapprehension.
  11. Lots of people throw it out as a truism that NY has one of the highest tax burdens.... Certainly, it varies as one categories by net taxes, state taxes local, federal, per capita, as a percentage of earnings (which is probably the fairest way to judge)... etc. It can be as complicated or as easy as you'd like to make it. But the truism is so b/c it generally is true. According to the Tax Foundation NY is #2 only to.... drumroll please.... Connecticut. link to a pertinent article
  12. That's already happened at UConn's new football stadium just outside Hartford. The rules make it so there is a de facto 'No tailgating allowed' in place. People cannot throw footballs in the lots.... I think it allows electric grills. But from what I hear (been out of there for a while), no one tailgates anymore like they did at the old stadium on campus. It is a parking lot for people watching football. This was done, evidently, for insurance reasons for the U. And before you go touting CT as uber-lib, I've had contact w/ the admin, and the people are about as bowtie-conservative as you get. Either way you cut it, both sides have their own list of things they want banned so as to make the concept of choice a thing of the past.
  13. I would say it was ill-advised. iirc, Evans fell down to make the catch. There were a couple others, but I couldn't cite them specifically w/o the tape. On the above one, I remember yelling, "Look to your right!" and then a big 'Whew.' In one sense, I think it'll build JP's (Sigh... Can he just switch to Jon already, it always sounds like you're talking about a 10-year-old with "JP" ) confidence.... and to add something, it was a bad weather day, which factors in too. The fumble problems were attributable to blocking failures on his blindside, not so much his fault.
  14. I have. And ditto on the UConn stuff (especially Starter jackets, usually soiled). It kind of cheapens it for those us us who actually went to the U.
  15. At times he did. At times he didn't. At times he made great reads. At other times, he tried to gun it to a guy when there was an open, high-completion option available.
  16. Yup. I saw that too. One where he had a screen available, wide open. He did not look 5 degrees to the left and instead threw it to Evans(?) downfield in double coverage. Completed the pass, but sh--, man! Despite the bigger stats, I would say (the second half especially) this week's game was a slight regression in terms of JP seeing the field and playing smart rather than relying wholly on his arm.
  17. Nevermind fans of other teams.... The only time I went to the Ralph, I was harrassed by drunk Bills fans. Apparently in 1997, wearing a Jim Kelly jersey was a major faux pas.
  18. Couldn't have been the conditions..... Vs. Pitt two years ago, Lindell missed a 28-yarder in similar conditions where the wind stopped it dead in the air. He made a 32-yarder yesterday. Have you ever tried kicking a FG, nevermind kicking in 20-30 mph winds and 40 mph gusts? Lindell and Moorman weren't the problem.
  19. Anyone see the montage of Brady whining like a little B word and looking desperately to the refs for pass interference or whatever calls w/ 9 min. left in the game? Well, he got quite a few. There were about 20 clips in it, which was about 1/3 of their offensive plays, and NBC likely didn't show them all. I know Tom is used to getting blowj--s from the refs, but they do need to come up for air every few hours.
  20. Only 1 team from the AFC plays in the SB per season out of 16 teams. Pennington's got what... 5 years left? If his arm holds up. Your contentions notwithstanding (and I think they're spot on), this is a bet that only someone who eats Retard-Sandwiches would make.
  21. I tried to say suggest as much last week and got flamed. I think Nate is playing it safe enough to be judged on his previous years' work rather than what he may do this year. He runs into the blocker b/c then he can say he was blocked, rather than risk whiffing or getting injured. It's NOT a good thing to have a big-ticket player who knows he's going to be playing somewhere else next season.... (continued below) ... for mad money b/c it's been shown time and again, there WILL]/I] be teams stupid enough to shell out big contracts, and with the new cap, they'll get even bigger. If he didn't get a long-term deal last off-season for what he wants, he's sure as sh-- not going to get it next year. If it was going to happen, it would have. Instead, Marv picked Youboty. Nate can read the writing on the wall.
  22. Sorry, Ramius, but.... Schoebel is the guy who's there for the coverage sack. And not a lot more.
