You mean.... like I stated in the first sentence of that post? Not saying that the RB and FB are the only guys out there, but a great pairing sure can make a difference. GT was playing Miami and Cox was playing like a man on fire for his RB. He singlehandedly opened a 3 foot hole on a TD by taking two guys out at the same time. Blue chip pick, surely not; he'll be lucky to be drafted. But a guy like that can be a solid contributor. And Shelton isn't getting any better or younger.

Yep. Rare indeed for a FB to be picked earlier than 8 p.m. on Day 2. Especially these days, in the NFL. But holy sh--, watching the college games you get a sense of what a real running game could do for Buffalo. Imagine having 3rd&2 and being confident we can pick it up easily. We haven't had that attitude here since Sam Gash. MrLocke, you talk of 'useless positions' and I can comiserate, but FB is exactly one of those unsexy positions that doesn't get the credit it's due. With 2 spots, RB & FB, it addresses what should be about 65% of our offense.

Watching the GT game yesterday, I was really impressed by Michael Cox. Kid just has a nose for making the key block. Leonard is a rusher first and foremost and would have to learn to block. I don't think we have that luxury. As a reserve RB, tho, I think he could be a change-up to Willis, kind of a Bettis-type back.

Maybe just me, but the Jimmy Dean commercials with the Sun are enjoyable.

It baffles me how people can vote for Repubs based on tax policy. What their mainstream does is spend just as much as the pie-in-the-sky Dem contingent wants to, only on different areas, and push the nasty-ass debt down the line so someone else can pay for it. Then make that debt a campaign issue against the other party. But it works b/c of apathy. Someone has a tagline quoting Bob Dole: 'We need to get back to the politics of failure' or somesuch. I don't know if this gridlock concept is what he had in mind, but that's a good way of explaining what needs to happen. Best way we have to make sure govt doesn't do much more than they should. What is so frustrating about Iraq is that this admin holds our schools to more account with NCLB saying that if X goal isn't reached and things aren't working by X date, the sh-- hits the fan. Yet in Iraq, our goals cannot have anything like a deadline. How do 'the terrorists win' with a deadline for the Iraqi govt to take over? To me, it sets a fire under their ass that they're going to be responsible for themselves --- same concept of the deadbeat live-in brother-in-law. Sure, they're two very different areas, but this is delving into overall guiding philosophy. -
I was hoping to see Brad Butler in reserve duty. He is a 'development' player --- translation: Ralph pays him for 4 years and then they guy goes someplace else --- but style has been compared to Kyle Turley. I am glad that the coaches aren't just going to sit on their hands when we can all see the OL isn't getting the job done. I don't know what it says about McNally's job security this coming offseason.... It may be time for an amicable parting and some new blood.

A guy I knew at the U peed next to Drew (in the bathroom, in the urinal) at a metal concert in Boston. Shortly after, a couple of Pats players of the 300+-pound class were in the news for stage-diving. I think they were arrested, too. You've gotta be stupid to weigh that much and dive into a crowd.

Your avatar puts a bigger smile on my face than your post.

I have reason to believe they were before they left for Paris....

They did play with a little heart. Very little.

The more they show Hurley's story.... your theory sounds more valid. Even tho Abrams and Lindelof said, among other theories, the whole minds-hooked-into-a-computer thing is not it. At this point, I'm just watching and absorbing, posting what I note visually or in literary connection, and trying not to make any outlandish interpretations. Anyway. Glad we could help you get lucky.

So... *ahem* I was right.

Brokeback Bills --- "I wish I could quit you!"

I'm not going to apologize for the size I use.... b/c you're just not getting it. It is not a matter of how much cap room we have. It is up to Nate where he goes. We could offer the entire $30M and he would probably STILL go to about 10 other teams for $7M/per before he would come back to Buffalo. EVERY single move that has been made by both sides are the tell-tale signs that Nate has no intention of re-signing with us and our FO knows it. This is like arguing with a brick wall.

Evans hangs onto that pass in the endzone....

Whew! For a second there, I thought we lost the game! Everyone can relax. JP's stats weren't bad. And Tom, if planes hadn't crashed into the WTC, the towers would still be standing. The point is, what happened did happen. You can't put your thumb over all the mistakes and say "Other than that, JP had a good game!" That is an Arizona and Detroit mentality. Which, sadly, this organization has sunk to. -
IIRC, that was written into his one-year contract. Not that tagging him again is a realistic option, given the new CBA. Any player tagged two years in a row will receive a contract that is the avg of the top 10 salaries in the league. That's more than $10M, and is prohibitive for this team. I don't know why you're continuing down this path. Clements will NOT be talked down in his salary demands. Last I heard, he wants ~$8M/year with a $12-15M SB. Everything he and his agent have done and everything the Bills front office has done points to him being gone next year, with this year as a stopgap while the rookies get experience. He will be testing the waters, so you'd better get prepared to lose him on the first or second day of FA. Stop living in your dream world where Marv has any leverage and $6M will be enough.
-
Wrong, both teams have had lots of offensive performances in the last several years.
-
So, let's see. There's no one who can play CB. There's no OLmen. We have to keep playing JP in '07 b/c no one will be available. Wow. There will be NO UFAs, no surprise salary cap cuts, and no one is going to declare for the NFL Draft? OK, now we're screwed. Timmy the Ticket Boy is irreplaceable, too.

Serious question and ruling re: "Man Laws"
UConn James replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Seconded. MAN LAW! -
Well, I'm going to put a bullet right to the heart of the issue. What makes your argument moot is: Does Nate want to be back here next year? Marv has said he will not use the FT on him again, meaning UFA. It is up to NC where he will go. If he wanted to stay in Buffalo, the time for him to make a deal was last offseason. Instead, he passed up on long-term security and risks getting $0 if he's injured this year. Guys forgo all this when they plan on testing the waters either b/c they know they're not going get as much as they want, or they want to be somewhere else. Other teams will pony up b/c they'll have plenty of cap room too. It's not the team's choice. Nate will be gone.
