  1. His throwing the ball at Barringer after the 4th Q catch was low-ball. And the guy was hurt, too. Pick him at your own peril; he'll get you a lot of yards, but he'll be getting a lot of 15-yard penalties on Sundays, and will be a major distraction. The refs called a hell of a game. They get so much gruff when the screw up, they should get some credit when they do a good job.
  2. I don't know what the dispute is about either. What you just wrote is a summation of everything I've written on this. But what would you know, Bill, you're just a cop. BlueFire staked a position put words in my mouth and now, in the face of all contrary evidence, is trying to defend it with all the vigor he's learned from the best bullsh--ters he looks up to on PPP.
  3. I never said DW was Ed. Why don't you go exercise your wrist while staring at your Vince Young poster? There's a reason why the Texans logo is a !@#$ skull.
  4. I knew those were contacts (or Photoshop?)! No one has eyes that blue, even me. All of that enhancement stuff gives me the heebie-geebies. Like on that earthquake episode of "Fresh Prince of Bel Air": I'm stuck in a basement Sittin' on a tricycle Girl gettin' on my nerve Goin' outta my mind I thought she was fine Don't know if her body is hers!
  5. Would that be of the 'Jesus was an Alien' variety? Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if this stuff is U.S. military. Whatever.
  6. One will almost certainly be spent on a WR, so it's a wash w/ their losing Branch. Then I think they take a CB or S to replace Samuel if he signs elsewhere (likely); or Harrison (injured yesterday, and it may be the end of the road). What really gets me is the Boston TeeVee stations were whining about the 'cheap shot' Harrison took to the knee. That's rich!
  7. Yep, and our lack of talent/depth at TE (and perhaps OT, if he had thoughts of converting) that attracted him here, along with a new reputation that this team gives UDFAs a real chance to make the team based on how well they play. How sh-- lucky were we that everyone else wrote him off when they couldn't see a place for him?
  8. Not so high that you're spending an extra $15-20M on signing a kid who has just as much chance to bust and not so low that we're behind the 8-ball in rounds 2-7, where the future and raw talent is got.
  9. I know a group of Hartfors Whalers got in trouble up in Buffalo in the early-to-mid 90s. It was in Jim Kelly's old bar, Network.
  10. Someone I know has looked at the numbers, etc. and said that Denver. in some respects, was worse than L.A.! I think it's more to do w/ drugs, esp. meth (perhaps owing to its airport hub), and less w/ murder, tho give that enough time to incubate.... Them shutting down their gang task force for a couple of years b/c of some hokey-pokey certainly didn't help.
  11. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Denver's got just as big a gang problem as other major cities, and depending to who you listen to it's a major hub of that problem in the SW, much as the airport is a major hub to the airlines. Maybe it was in the '60s, but it's not "safe" anymore. NOTE that with this statement, I am NOT saying that gang activity was involved in DW'S killing.
  12. We really should. In the 4th or maybe the 6th. We need to start developing a good backup now b/c Holcomb isn't going to be here for very much longer and has a noodle for an arm. Bills have picked 2 QBs in the last ~11 years; Pats take one about every two years. I'm thinking someone like Tate out of Iowa State or John Stocco from Wisconsin....
  13. Denver Post link. There I go... assuming things again.... tard. And one person said Denver TV was reporting there was an altercation w/ WR Javon Walker in the club....
  14. Being in the company of a 24-year-old lady friend in a Hummer limo (if the pic was right), I'm going to assume they weren't on their way home from taking communion at St. Paul's or the Unsinkable Molly Brown museum. Just a hunch. You can get into the whole 'Well, you don't know everything!' schpiel that you've learned so well on PPP. I know enough. We'll see how that goes, sparky. Like I said, 'enemies' can be made really easily. A guy I know was back from Iraq for one day, went to a club in Hartford and asked a guy, "Hey slick, are you done with this table?" The guy got two punches in before he got his ass kicked.... all b/c he didn't like being called 'slick.' Like I said, things get really stupid, really fast in places like this. I'm not preaching, just telling it like it is; and I'm not saying DW was a bad person or that he was 'asking for it' in any way. He should have had a fun night and be cleaning out his locker at Invesco Field right now. It's really sad that we've cultivated a society that runs to violence as an answer for any and every perceived slight.
  15. One of the unrecovered climbers was a goalie on the UConn soccer team in the late '80s. They were caught unprepared in a massive weeklong snowstorm that came on suddenly. And unless they were seriously laden with provisions, they wouldn't have made it anyway. And that they went out of the snow cave in such conditions trying to get help for their friend... it's probably more than the average person would do. Climbing a mountain assumes a certain level of risk and a fair amount of courage/craziness but not near as much risk as driving over an RPG or smoking while covered in flammable material. I was on Mt. Washington once when a thick fog came in, temp dropped and it started snowing in Sept. I got a ride down with a charitable soul. How about James Kim, who ultimately saved his family when they got stuck on the road in OR? A tragic result of having unexpected climates foisted upon you is not Darwin-worthy. And death in trying to save a person(s) you love is not dishonorable. On the contrary.
  16. Didn't say he was a thug. Hanging out in those kind of places, you gain enemies by just sitting there. It's just the ethos when you combine all of those factors --- money, alcohol, sex, testosterone --- and things can get really stupid, really fast. I would be surprised if it was someone who had some manner of run-in, real or imagined in this person's head, with DW. People don't usually kill people they don't know.
  17. In that case, get back to work, slacker!
  18. Linky. I was paying more for dial-up than I do now for DSL. Plus, I cancelled the newspaper and get it online for free. Get with the program, Ann!
  19. Just watch out for errant golf balls at the burial! I mean --- all that grass, flags at the tee, a 3'x6' hole, and a giant crowd....
  20. Guilty as charged, your honor. But yes, the blogs were just not utilized enough to warrant them. Most people put their LAMP stuff on 'Off the Wall' anyway.... and that seemed to sort itself out.
  21. I'm not saying it should have happened, tho some here are reacting as if I did. And I'm also not saying everyone needs to be a member of the Clever family, but I think this and many other incidents like it show safety requires prudence. This is not a kind or safe world --- violent crime is increasing again after years of dropping off (a phenomenon that I would say tracks along with world events) --- and it's sad that some of these millionaire kids take the risks they do. Showing off your money, an atmosphere of drinks/drugs/sex/etc., getting involved in club scenes, and with people who are less than savory characters.... Don't try to tell me this decreases the risks involved with having that target on your back. It is a shame.
  22. I say N'awlins. They've been down for so long as a franchise.... And it'd be a great thing for that region.
  23. Hooray for the nightclub culture of professional athletes! I'm truly sorry for his family, but how many times does this have to happen before someone thinks staying out at all hours in these places might be a bad idea? They tend not to attract people of high manners. When you're an athlete making millions, you have a target on your back for all manner of people --- women who see $$ and men who think they need to show how tough they are. It may be a party-poop, but you need to not put yourself in those situations. Which makes me all the more happy that Marv likes 'character' guys who keep out of this stuff. Nothing good happens after 1 a.m.
  24. Postgame comments Willis, if you think you did your part by getting 23 yards, you have a serious misunderstanding of what a RB needs to do. I hope you and Rosenh-ass do hold out. And I hope we draft a kid who actually wants to play football, who doesn't dance behind the line, gets 1,500 yards, and Marv sends you an email with a CC: to DR simply saying, " YOU."
  25. Speechless why? Name one RB who didn't lose time to injury this year. 'Well, if that play didn't get called back Willis would have....' And if my uncle wore a wig, he'd be my aunt. It's all a bunch of excuses. He got what he got and did what he did, and he will be judged on that by the people whose opinions matter. Six TDs on the year may put stars in your eyes, but it doesn't impress me, and based on his comments, I doubt it impresses Marv. He signed that first contract, did he not? TD didn't put a gun to his head, did he? If he wants more scratch, he needs to STFU and make more plays.
