Should Davis start over Sanders going forward?
UConn James replied to Blainorama5's topic in The Stadium Wall
Took the words out of my mouth. For whatever reason, Josh’s deep passes to Sanders this season have almost never seemed to hit. Whether that’s Josh overthrowing, under-throwing (he does put a lot of balls at receivers’ feet), or if it’s Sanders being too slow or difficulty tracking the ball, the connection hasn’t been there. IIRC, they say that Sanders is great in practice, but that absolutely hasn’t translated to games. Gabe, otoh, has been pretty 🔥 when he’s been given chances / targets. -
One other thing that needs to be addressed is WR

Sanders wasn’t what we needed. He’s only taken snaps & time from the development of Davis. And as much as they may rave about Sanders in practice, he has been woeful at being in position on the deep throws and the drops. But yes, we absolutely need a guy who can make the leaping / contested catch on more float-y passes… that our own defense has been burned by so frequently (the Hail Murray and like every pass in the Pitt game). -

It was at that spot for like a minute and then 2 seconds before the snap oh here have another 3 feet, Tom. 😡 Most favored players. -

Edmunds is getting RAPED by Brady. -
How old is that structure? Someone’s gonna see some insurance 💰 from that….

I haven’t seen many college games or watched them with scrutiny, but Linderbaum (Iowa Hawkeyes) vs. the Michigan DL last weekend… he held his own and the center of the line was actually pushing forward / not getting blown back into the QB which is something we haven’t seen in Buffalo since forever. NFL protections are different of course but hoping Beane takes a good look there. Center May be the second most important position on any team.

Is it worth seeing if Antonio Williams should get a shot?
UConn James replied to Lothar's topic in The Stadium Wall
Little faith that this coaching staff actually tries anything different. They’ll wait until we play some also-ran or a beat-up team like Nawlins and believe that things are fixed. AW’s play against Myyami in the final game last season was fairly impressive but take it for what it’s worth and also don’t expect them to give up on their 3rd round picks — Beane / McD have to give more chances to prove themselves right, just like the Cody Ford experience of hammering a square peg into a round hole. -
He may have been open, but how often does he actually make a catch? He’s a step below Brown’s production and reliability, even by last year. Signing Sanders only delays Greg Davis’s development. They say Sanders is great 🔥 in practice. Too bad he comes up small in the games either with drops or not being fast enough, or as last night a couple of times, not even putting his arms out to attempt the catch.

Where the hell is Star? It’s just been Harry out there from what I’ve seen. -
👋🏼 Late diagnosis about five years ago.

But for those who still want to hear the sounds of the game / crowd? The ESPN app had a feed of Wimbledon matches several years ago where there were no commentators. Just the little score ticker and relevant graphics that came up. It was wonderful not having someone all up in your ear and trying to control your thoughts. It was like you were just another spectator at a match and just watch it in peace. Would that they could enable that for sports broadcasts. The Next-Gen-TV / ATSC 3.0 for over the air broadcasting has a number of features including for audio. Wonder if that could be an option.

TNF: Dallas (7-4) at New Orleans (5-6), 8:20 pm on Fox

Terrible call on the block of Kearse. That was absolutely a clean block. Blindside block like Ford in the Houston playoff game. Hate this league’s acceptance of 💩 reffing. -
Ed Oliver has been a beast the last few games...
UConn James replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
The dream would be to get the Davis kid from Georgia to pair with Ed at the other DT spot. He’ll likely be long gone by the time we pick, tho. No slight to Harry, but that’s a big step down from Star, who is a step down from elite himself. We should be preparing for an overhaul of the interior DL in the off-season, jetting Butler and possibly Addison. -
In the immortal words of the fixer Wolf in Pulp Fiction, let’s not go sucking each other’s 🍆s just yet. Need to see if he can do this consistently and against good / better Ds.

His right hand was so swollen during the post-game interview / turkey leg 🍗 chow-down (would’ve been appropriate for Ed Oliver to have been included in that. Dude made plays without much help / with backups along the rest of the line). Literally DOUBLE the size of his left hand still from the surgery a few weeks ago. Dude is a baller, just runs through people, and it seems like the TE University thing helped his game. Very important outlet for Josh and his blocking has gotten better too. Would be very nice to have true, complete, dangerous TE rather than the 30 year string of guys who can really only do one or the other.

The play was inside the 5, iirc. I’d love to see the replay again but yes, as I recall they had the blue and yellow LOS and first down lines superimposed. Morse and Dawkins were just a bit behind Ike, and Ike was just past the LOS. Like a yard. And it’s not like he was doibb no g anything. They were all just ambling around looking over at the other side of field where the play was happening for the last five seconds. They were totally out of the play. It may have been the letter of the rule but it definitely wasn’t the spirit of the rule. IMO, the refs didn’t like the degree of brokenness of the play and just decided to throw a flag. It is after all the No Fun League.
-
But… by one yard? It mandates that if your team does end up passing, the OL has to allow itself to be pushed back. And yes, in these days of the RPO it’s like… 💁🏻♂️. Downfield, OK. One yard past the LOS, tho?

Taron sniffed that right out. -
Asked this in the GDT, but the fast-moving nature of that thread isn’t for something like this: Am I the only one who doesn’t get what the point of the ineligible man downfield penalty is? I mean… I understand what the engineering of it is — no lineman past the los on a pass play unless engaged — but I just don’t understand why it’s such a problem deserving of a penalty. What is its advantage? Boettger was one yard past the line of scrimmage on the called-back TD to Knox, on the opposite side of the field.
