A Few Thoughts about the Steelers Game - Community Edition
UConn James replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was a Ty Johnson run with a facemask call against Pitt. The sky ref did a quick review and called down just at a comedically-timed moment. They can advise on the negative of a call made on the field but they can't call something that that wasn't called on the field. -

Can we erase the WR screen behind the line of scrimmage to Shakir from the playbook, please?! It hasn’t worked in weeks and was resulting in big losses. Teams are thoroughly on to it. You need to try something else but... he doesn't. And Shakir has been uncharacteristically droppy the last several including one catch on five targets yesterday. What the hell is going on? Brady all year has just been like and it's getting infuriating. This gameplan will not work for any other team in the league but he's so unimaginative and so unchanging that this is what he'll do and McD will allow. As for what's going on in Josh's head. Same. He's just not the same dude. I dunno if he started believing the hype. Or if it's the life changes and commercial distractions. If someone got into his ear about his playing style. Or an injury he's hiding again.... But he just looks entirely disinterested when he goes and sits on the bench and looks at his tablet after every bad drive, INT, etc. If guys are messing up, captaincy and leadership is sometimes speaking to or even calling guys out when they didn't do the right assignment. Or rouse up your teammates in important moments. But there he's been all season, glued to the end of the bench with his face in a screen or just staring into space. There were signs of a pulse in the second half yesterday, at long last. How do we make that happen again / more? -
Almost like having Milano & Bernard as dudes who are 210-215 pounds at LB get rolled over vs the run... and also aren't fast enough in coverage... is the worst of both worlds. Shaq comes in at 230 and was actually stopping guys. McD's small LB philosophy is terrible.

So sorry, TB 🥺. Let's get it straight, tho. You absolutely haven't failed her. You gave her 13 great years, which is more than a lot of dogs get. That doesn't make the loss any easier. Trust me, I know. I more than know. Friends / family may not know but I'm sure they're going to be able to tell something devastating happened. Maybe tell the one you're closest to? And until you get back on your feet, and to help cushion the blow maybe you can volunteer at a nearby pet shelter / Humane Society so you can connect with other furry friends even if you can't afford one. Wishing you Peace & Grace.

Was Al Bundy the funniest TV character ever?
UConn James replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall
Yes. So many great charachters on M*A*S*H. Sidney Freedman, the psychiatrist as another. Alan Alda as Hawkeye is probably my answer for this question. At least in that era of television. -

Edwards double-teamed -- and by that, he just played patty-cake -- and the dude just ran right past. WTF?! But the further thing... Josh looks absent-minded yet again. -
I think they were hoping that Josh could be like Tom Brady and turn chicken 💩 into chicken salad at WR. Josh did a lot with what little he was given last year, but it's definitely not the case here. Beane & McDermott thought they could give it short shrift again and spend resources in other areas for the bend and break defense. [<= I said what I said.] Beane got testy on the radio in the spring because sometimes the truth hurts. The NFL is about offense and they let it slide while turning their entire attention to defense with ZERO improvement there (actually, it's a couple-few ticks worse than last year which... is saying something. McD doubled down on his scheme of undersized & always hurt LBs / "big nickel" and now jus'about every running back is running us roughshod, not just Derrick Henry. Should they pay the price for sticking with & investing even more in an awful D scheme and wasting an entire year of Josh? IMO, yes.

In the NFL you need to re-invent yourself every season and every week. Not For Long. Other teams will know your tendencies, know your weaknesses, and exploit them. McD & Beane are putting out the same schemes and signing the same players and we get the same result.
