  1. No I think people are just disagreeing with where McDermott placed strategy in his hierarchy.
  2. You’re the second person to make that comparison in this thread. That is...concerning to say the least.
  3. I’ll play: Culture I think refers to the character of the players - why is the guy playing? Does he really “love” football or does he see it as a regular job? The character of the player can also refer to his level of effort. Does he practice hard? Does he take plays off? Culture could also refer players’ societal values; I am not going to get into examples of those because I don’t want to sidetrack this. Strategy to me refers to the nuts and bolts of football. It’s the aspect of the game that is most on the coaches; which is why I think it’s a bit of a copout for Sean to de-emphasize this. Play design, play-calling, clock management, talent utilization, in-game adjustments, etc. That’s what it means to me at least.
  4. BS. Belichick, probably more than any other coach in the history of this league, has perfected the art of game planning and strategizing for specific opponents. At the same time, he has drafted criminals, brought in mercenary free agents, and generally has won with a constant roster churn around his QB. Belichick may “agree” with Sean if asked in public, but in no way do his actions over the past 16 years with NE support Sean’s “philosophy.” You’re dead wrong if you think so.
  5. Well, the greatest coach of all time seems to differ with your assessment there, Sean. May want to take some notes.
  6. I care about quality in things that matter. I don’t think this bumper reflects on GR’s professionalism at all. It’s a friggin seconds-long intro. Clearly you are a connoisseur of all things Bills media-related though, so if you really do have a “Bills Blog” as your screenname suggests feel free to post the link sunshine and we will be happy to peruse it and give honest critiques.
  7. Yep. I get half-angry watching Mahomes but it’s just so entertaining.
  8. Yes. A better stat would measure something like “time to release or pocket collapse.” Obviously not all plays would qualify - designed rollouts/bootlegs wouldn’t really count, but I think overall it would paint a better picture.
  9. Lol no shortage of excuse makers for this guy here, even after an abysmal game. Save your “ease up on poor baby” threads. He’s professional now (just like KB, Zay, Ducasse and all the other players you will readily flame) and needs to go out there and produce, or, at the very least, show some progession towards producing wins. Some of y’all are creepy. Treating Allen like your newborn.
  10. Most every caller to WGR is an idiot though.
  11. Don’t worry I read in this thread that robert foster, future hall of famer, is getting open “all the time.” So I am sure he’ll have a big 2nd half.
  12. Receivers can’t get open, QB holds on to the ball too long...ain’t all on the line
  13. Yeah I didn’t even address the trivia thing earlier, that is lame for the most part. I still can’t believe Schoop is in like 15-20 fantasy leagues (so he says.) That is such overkill it’s farcical.
  14. Good first post and I don’t mind looking at Dez or Rishard either.
  15. Yup I agree. And that is the correct way to voice displeasure with that - just don’t listen. some people I talk to actually think Schoop’s pretentiousness is endearing. Never been able to figure out why.
  16. Good thoughts OP. Honestly with a gimpy Rodgers, if Hughes and Kyle play like that did last week the Bills have a great shot.
  17. That line in LA is nasty; I think that’s a big part of the hype. But I agree with you overall.
  18. I mean, I get you - if you’re not into fantasy football that can be annoying. But it’s a general sports show; for better or worse fantasy football is a valid topic on a show like theirs given its popularity. I don’t know what you mean by “stats,” but if you’re referring to conversations on advanced stats and analytics Schoop is always going to talk about those. White does the same thing in the morning. They are both huge believers in advanced stats in football and hockey. Personally, I am not convinced they translate as well to those sports as they do to baseball, but you’re gonna have to get used to them talking about it. A lot.
  19. I get ya. I agree. As far as the football goes I am gonna give them a chance. Haven’t been a fan so far but I hate most of the male commentators too. I like Romo that’s about it.
