  1. Mahomes making effortless throws from impossible angles already.
  2. Yes that may well be it. Problem is there’s a fine line with today’s media and fan interaction between being buttoned up and sounding clueless and/or, like I said earlier, disingenuous. I can’t say McDermott has walked that line correctly so far.
  3. I understand that. I tried to do it in the past as well. Slowly but surely though I grown to believe this coach is very disingenuous when he speaks publicly. It’s insulting to us fans. That’s right Joe! Get the pitchforks! Because I totally said that. All I said was no one should defend this performance.
  4. I am not going to presume any of the guys they’ve let walk or traded have a bad work ethic or attitude. And I don’t trust McDermott to be honest about that either. So those are unknowns as far as I am concerned. As far as “scheme fit” as it applies to offense? They are on their 2nd coordinator in as many years, and this current one is well on his way out the door if judged by his performance. They have no offensive “scheme” beyond being absolutely lost and embarrassing. You’re just using the same stupid buzzwords McDermott uses to avoid ever answering any questions in a meaningful way.
  5. What exactly is it that “they want to do”?
  6. While I agree with the OP insofar as I did not expect a repeat (or improvement) of last year, being “bad” is one thing. Being completely noncompetitive is another. Repeated blowouts, a historically bad offense, and coach who, frankly, is starting to sound insulting with his responses to questions are not acceptable (or “expected”) and NO ONE should be defending this.
  7. If stupid gimmicks like this were in any way feasible in the NFL, don’t you think an inmovative franchise would have tried it already? oh wait, you’re the genius that makes fun of player’s afros. Makes sense now.
  8. No kidding. Always thought he was one of the best at breaking tackles and YAC as well. Until he got here.
  9. Very true. A couple of good young ones coming up though. I like Burton and Kittle going forward.
  10. Maybe he was pouting after last week and pulled some **** in practice? Might as well speculate you know McDermott isn’t going to offer an explanation.
  11. Also: hire a strong GM and let him build his roster; don’t give roster-building responsibilities to a rookie head coach.
  12. Look for all his athleticism Allen is going to do the most damage stepping high in the pocket and firing passes with that howitzer of his. Don’t get me wrong it’s very nice that he can do both but I want to see that arm on display. For that to happen he needs to learn to feel an NFL pocket. He’s gonna get there. I think. He looks pretty bad so far but the talent jump he’s dealing with is immense.
  13. All these people in this thread talking about preseason performance as if it means anything. Get with it. Preseason games are televised intersquad practices. Your good players either don’t play or don’t try. Their main focus is don’t get injured. Your coaches aren’t running anything, offensively or defensively, that they are going to use in the games that matter. The overall goal of a preseason game isn’t even the same as a regular season game. No one is trying to win. They may say so to get the suckers to attend, but it ain’t. They should have made the decision based on actual performance. By any measure, McCarron outplayed Peterman in actual, regular season games (limited sample size for both I know.) not glorified scrimmages.
  14. I got the impression from Leibowitz’s book on the league that the other owners don’t view Spanos too highly. The option to lease from the Rams was a pity move. Goodell really wanted Spanos to work something out with San Diego. if you get a chance read The Big Game - there is an incredibly sad description of the “rally” the Chargers held in LA towards the end. Paid actors posing as fans, the whole bit. What a cluster****.
  15. I have zero faith the current front office can identify and draft good offensive skill players, so if they get a high pick might as well take an elite defender.
  16. I can read just fine. In fact I read your post twice and it didn’t make any more sense the 2nd time. Head in the sand.
  17. King’s absolutely right and our media should be pressing Beane and McDermott for more detailed answers. I am sick of hearing Sean say nothing but “I have to watch the tape.” Sorry that’s bull. They weren’t all “about the same” unless you’re really stretching the meaning of “about.” stop defending this.
  18. Thanks shaw. I mean I wouldn’t say for certain the Bills have their QB yet - anyone throwing for between 80-130 yards a game seems like an unfinished, unknown product at this point. But Allen is further along than I thought he’d be at this point. And thanks again - after the deluge of whiny, hyperbolic threads the last 2 days yours is excellent to read.
  19. Good stuff. Coming along nicely. Still wish we wouldn’t have traded up, but we probably had to in order to get him.
  20. I brought this up in the live game thread - I believe the guy. It sure looks like he simply let him go.
