  1. Those two should be cut tomorrow, if not sooner. DeOndre Wesley maybe? Best guess after the Waddle injury. Unless he's already been cut in the last 3 days. Just checking the depth chart.
  2. I know bud I don't take it seriously either I found the hate you got from the thread you started on Zay ridiculous - wasn't too clear on that on my reply sorry. No worries. He ABSOLUTELY deserves the zing on that drop from last night.
  3. Thing is I don't know the how or why we are seeing the Barkley we see now, here. Obviously we know his previous stints were pretty disastrous. But he was lights out last year in his start, earned an extension, by all reports he's been excellent in camp, and looked good last night. Maybe bad coaching was his problem? Bad situations in the past? Bad luck? Whatever, I don't really care. He seems to have found a groove.
  4. I know Kelly - it's an absurdist argument, not one I agree with of course. And it's been parroted by people (not you) in regards to Jones repeatedly over the course of last year. Same posters use the same argument to excuse Allen's inaccuracies - "WELL, two hands on the ball! SHOULD HAVE caught it! Ergo, not a bad throw!"
  5. He appears to be upper-echelon as far as current backup QBs go. Small sample size sure but I'm not worried about him.
  6. And if he keeps dropping passes he'll be gone in short order. And certain people here will rejoice, even though, mental health episodes aside, he seems to be one of the most outgoing and genuine players on the team with both fans and the media. So I am rooting for him up until that unfortunate day happens. Then he'll go to the Rams or something like Woods and put up Pro Bowl numbers in an actual 21st century passing offense. And I am with you - I doubt he'll ever be Juju-like (shoulda picked him!) but I'm with you.
  7. Jones gets more consistent separation than probably anyone else in that corps, sans Beasley now that he's here. That's why Zay has worked pretty much exclusively with the 1s in camp. The hands are an issue. Have been. But they weren't in college and it seems the coaches are confident he can work through that. Who knows; these are the same coaches that keep giving opportunities to Ducasse. But it's a little disingenuous from some here (not you) who are so quick to jump on the kid for alligator-arming a pass where he KNEW he was getting drilled (and did) and not even mention the other drops in the game, including darlings like Sweeney (and I like him! I went to BC I am rooting for him too). Would Zay have caught or dropped the deep seam that Allen launched 5 yards over his head? Guess will never know because Josh overthrew him. Did he get his hands on it? Was it complete (according to the refs)? No? Sorry I keep hearing around here if you're an NFL WR and you can get two hands on the ball you're supposed to catch it. At least that's the standard people apply to Jones. So yeah, he dropped it. He had an even worse drop earlier in the game Kelly watch again. Christ.
  8. Absolutely - if Allen ever goes down again, heaven forbid; I ain't tuning out. Barkley seems more than competent back there.
  9. According to your "logic" then Foster ain't on the roster either. 2 drops. 1 of those even more "routine" than the drop from Zay. But hey, maybe you missed those. Don't want to futz up the narrative. And Jones would have been tackled at the 2 even if he had hung on to that one.
  10. That's true and fair - he did not have a big enough sample size on deep balls tonight obviously to judge if he's gotten better from last year. My main point though, I suppose, was being very impressed on the short/intermediate throws that we were able to see. Besides the one he booted to Jones on 3rd down, he looked sharp on those. And those sit-down, find the hole in the zone type routes require timing - something they criticized Allen about coming out into the league. Very impressed on the little we saw of that last night.
  11. I mean, I love this crusade of yours, and I agree he should have caught that (it was a beautiful throw by Allen into traffic), but if you gave equal time and talked about all the other drops from tonight it might boost your case - Foster (2!), Sweeney, and Sills all also dropped dime passes did they not?
  12. Makes sense if they didn't just sign an all-pro returner. BUT...he can take Yeldon's spot I am on board with that.
  13. You think EVERYONE looked good except the punter? Even Bodine?
  14. Yes I agree in theory. Foster still has to prove it consistently in practice and in these prove it games. I know it's not his bag but he had a bad drop on the short crossing route. And that's Barkley throwing to him, who isn't firing it in there like Josh would. And that's another thing - Allen still needs better accuracy on those deep throws for guys like Foster to even have a chance to make a consistent impact. Josh looked great on the intermediate option and spacing routes he threw tonight to Cole. He did NOT look accurate on his deep throws, and they dialed up those right away for him. He can get it out there, for sure. Question remains if he can put it on guys like Brown and Foster consistently in stride. Honestly the deep toss from Tyree to Foster that got overturned was the prettiest deep throw I saw tonight. Compare that throw on the move to Allen overthrowing Zay by 5 yards when Zay had 3 steps on his guy.
  15. but Luck was subtracted from the team for a whole season and they didn't do that so.... But isn't John Brown more "worth it" in that role at this point? add "except Bodine" to this and I agree.
  16. That sounds great to me...but obviously I am getting worried about Morse's long-term health.
  17. I love McDermott overall but he seems to have hard-to-understand fascinations with certian guys, Vlad being exhibit A. He sucks. Penalties, slow AF, I don't know man.
  18. Played better than you'd expect. Bodine OTOH, is a disaster. Boggles the mind how he started all those games in Cincy when they were making the playoffs every year.
  19. Yes indeed. Guy shouldn't have made it past pick 3. Thanks idiots!
  20. That’s not a good sign. Think it’s time to admit guy just isn’t that good.
  21. Because he’s been struggling mightily in practice
  22. Foster with some redemption, unless it’s overturned. Very good throw
  23. Do Foster and Sweeney get shown the door too for their drops? ?
