Here me out. JD, when he took over the Chiefs brought in Alex Smith, and then built around him.  They did not take a QB in that draft, instead they added weapons with5 picks in the first 3 rounds (if memory serves).  I think it is entirely possible, if not likely that JD follows the same approach to winning now, rather than building.  Let's face it, Browns are NOT going to Brown this upcoming season.  They have a good team now, solid vets with talented young players, and are about to get even better.  I think Dorsey honestly believes that Tyrod is his guys (for now), I think both he and Hue believe in him, and will have Haley tailor (no pun intended) an offense around him.

My BOLD predication is that Cleveland takes Barkley at 1, and then Fitz or Chub at 4, or trade back out with the Bills, or some other team willing to jump ahead.

THAT is how this draft is going to play out for them, IMO.

Why is this guy not ranked higher on the mock drafts?  I don't watch a ton of college football but his numbers are sick.  My high level "you tube scouting" that I do everytime this year, tells me nothing.  BUT seriously the dude looks amazing.  Passer rating, TDs, pick ratio and his hair is sweet too.

What is his knock or downfall?  Help me understand

Because he's just another in a long line of QBs who have come through that goofy OK State system and amounted to less than nothing in the NFL.  That's why.

    See: Weeden, Brandon.  Robinson, Zac.

Yup...why not, I mean who cares ultimately who the bridge QB is.  Our future is tied to the rookie we draft, everyone else is just a seat warmer.  Why not give Kap a chance to play and garner interest moving forward.  I don't care what anyone says, he is good enough to play for someone in the NFL as at least a backup and deserves every right to.

Kap gets a bad rap, and most people are completely clueless to have much he gives back and does for the community and kids.  All he did was stand up for something that needed to be stood up for.  I get the way he chose to do it isnt the way others feel he should have, but all his intentions were positive.  Its pathetic this is still plaguing him to be honest.

I am as surprised as anyone else how we (KC) are throwing around money.

Brett Beach said a month ago we would be adding another fast deep threat at WR.  The money is steep, but I can’t emphasize enough what they believe ( and I believe) they have in Mahomes.  Bombs will be dropping all over the field.  Watkins is only 24.  They are betting he is about to reach that potential.  I hope he does.

my main point is though, if you get a QB in the draft who in fact is a franchise guy, this is the kind of spending you can do (I’m not arguing it’s wise spending, we’ll see) lots of room to build out the roster when QB isn’t consuming 10-30% of your cap space

    Thanks, jeff.
