GDT: National Championship: Georgia at Alabama 8:00pm ESPN
Richard Noggin replied to Nextmanup's topic in College Football
QB discussions aside, is the Georgia DT Wyatt draft eligible? Everyone is in love with Davis's stature and talent, and rightly so. But Wyatt, as Herbstreit recently mentioned, is excellent. I know Google would answer this for me, mind you. -

Open hand. A ball can be pushed forward while loose in the QB's hand. It's possible to have a ball on your hand without gripping it. Heck, I've seen QBs lose their grip on the ball, then clench their fists while trying to throw it, and push the thing forward with a closed fist. -

Fanbases don't win games. -
Please, let's not invite Bills fans into a discussion about Event Tree Analysis or other such highly variable and interconnected sequences of events, like an NFL season. (Obviously, it's the same darned thing.)

1/9/22 Gameday AFCE Champs vs Jets Postgame Thread.
Richard Noggin replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Chandler has receipts, folks! I effing love people who contradict themselves squirming when called out on their bullcrap. Just breathe: it's okay to be publicly wrong! However, it's never okay to be a Patriots or Tom Brady fan. -
Diggs - bonus for 6 more catches - extension ?
Richard Noggin replied to First Round Bust's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's unfortunate how much fantasy football and stats in general can skew a person's perceptions of actual NFL football. Jefferson being an absolute statistical monster in Minnesota does NOT mean that Diggs is somehow less valuable in Buffalo. Hell, Cousins having GREAT stats yet again is obviously not connected at all to the reality of that franchise's fortunes, so MAYBE the collective national rush to see this very complicated game through the very reductive lens of statistical outcomes is misleading, at least... Diggs' talent, competitiveness, AND HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH ALLEN carry value that transcends quantification. Suck it, nerds. -
Haven't heard Daboll's name connected to any interviews yet, so hopefully we get his best work this week (wasn't his attention somewhat divided last year in the playoffs?). So far this season he has truly risen to the challenge of the Chiefs game and the 2nd Patriots game. I'd like to see that kind of opponent-specific and tendency-breaking offensive gameplan to roll out against Belichick for OUR 3rd MATCHUP IN UNDER 6 WEEKS?! That's just nuts.

5 best NFL teams you’ve seen in your lifetime
Richard Noggin replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall
You can really gauge each poster's age by the composition of their list. Lots of recency bias in the first page or two, but some solid all-time lists emerging in the last two pages. Difficult to judge the validity of anything comparing eras. -
Panthers Willing to Listen to Offers for McCaffrey

To be fair (cue the Letterkenny enthusiasts), if you give any franchise QB that kind of o-line and RB, they should do some winning... -

Week 18: Jets at Bills - a W wins the AFC East!
Richard Noggin replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Okay, I'm listening. But you're being vague. How does a football stadium serve the community of Bills fans and the organization, exactly? Stadiums historically solve ZERO problems for the broader community in which they are built. They are expensive buildings where my favorite sport is played. And some overpriced concerts are staged. And a smattering of smaller, community-based partners hold fundraising events (which of course is a good thing). There is published support for this unfortunately skeptical position. -

Bill O’Brien interviewing for Jags HC

The "laugh" emoji isn't a strong enough reaction to this news. Because oftentimes the privileged rely upon well-established networks of privilege and pre-established protocols, rather than creative solutions to complex problems. -
Week 18: Jets at Bills - a W wins the AFC East!
Richard Noggin replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
The expertise exists to build an open-air stadium that nevertheless mitigates (maybe not eliminates, but drastically reduces) wind. And we know they want to cover the majority of fans. Why is everyone so obsessed with a dome? The stadium they intend to build would have drastically improved this season's gameday conditions. -
Josh Allen home/road splits
Richard Noggin replied to Giuseppe Tognarelli's topic in The Stadium Wall
This point is ignored a lot this season: the bad weather for home games in 2021 essentially amounts to really bad luck. Plenty of glorious, mild weather in WNY all season, punctuated by some bizarrely isolated wet and/or windy and/or cold game days. Most seasons will have one or two notably bad weather home games. Can't catch a break this year, it seems. -
Redzone execution = Superbowl for this team...
Richard Noggin replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
So...situational football? Red zone is probably the most important "situation" in football. Has definitely been an issue in this team's losses. One could argue that the ability...and dedication...to run the heckin' ball in goal-to-go situations has been missing for much of the season, which then inarguably allows defenses to cheat against the pass. Mahomes and the Chiefs had to learn in 2021 how to be patient and physical on offense to beat the zone-heavy, deep safety looks. Allen and Daboll finally did it against the Patriots in Foxboro. And last week they ran the dang ball in the second half and especially in the red zone. Can they keep progressing in this way?
