  1. This is kinda weird. Taylor reached 9-7 this year without a top 5 defense, unless you consider NP's performance in the snow bowl to be indispensable. Taylor also had terrible pass protection, a running attack which would vanish for whole games, a revolving group of cripples & castoffs for receivers, and a defense which took a long mid-season break giving up 400 yards of offense each game. Yet he reached 9-7. Yet 9-7 is his ceiling. Anyone else see the problem with the logic here?
  2. Let me guess : A celestial source, maybe? The Archangel Gabriel? The Prophet Elijah? You're an entertaining troll, I'll grant you that. Over at BillsZone, a troll had his "well placed source" say Taylor reclaimed the starting job post-Chargers only because Kim Pegula insisted - afraid it would looked racially suspect otherwise. See what I mean? Your trolling is just as pathetic, but happily nowhere near as sordid. That guy managed to con a surprisingly large number of people into sputtering rage over his fantasy injustice. You'll just hook a few stray COPs (Cult of Peterman). Also : A "thinking man" might look at what Peterman did against New England three games ago. On two good legs and playing much of the game in the purest Garbage Time, he accomplished this : 6-15, 40% 50 yds 3.3 ypa. If Taylor has two good legs, I'm thinking he's the best choice. Of course, I'm not buds with Gabriel or Elijah, so what do I know?
  3. You don't need hindsight on such an imbecilic decision. Let's review, shall we? Taylor played well against Tampa. He played well against Oakland. He played well against New York. Then he played poorly against the Saints and was benched. If that sounds bizarre, then maybe you see why some people today try to rewrite history and claim TT was bad in the Jets game. That narrative (however bogus) makes McDermott look a little less the fool. Meanwhile - over the same four game stretch - the Bills' defense was allowing a league worst four hundred yards of offense per game. So : quarterback change, of course.... Getting the sense some people weren't firing on all cylinders here? So why do it? The answer is simple, but even more damning. It seems Dennison / McDermott thought Peterman fit more to their exalted system. Apparently that trumped talent, experience, skill, common sense and the evidence of their eyes. The Chargers' game was the result.......
  4. After the Jets game, who besides message board trolls said Taylor played poorly that Thursday night? Answer : No one. On the contrary, every single Bills' sportswriter / commentator I saw praised him as one of the few Buffalo players who showed up that game. Of course I'm addressing a troll here, but I've noticed even anti-Taylor types who are serious / honest have created an alternate reality where TT played poorly against the Jets. Those of us back on Planet Earth remember him playing hard, efficient and well the entire game - even while hammered by a pass rush immediately on him as he set to throw. I won't say his game was perfect, but look on the bright side : At least he didn't throw five interceptions.......
  5. The funny thing about this? It ignores the fact that Peterman played a large part of that game against New England. The result : 6-15, 40% 50 yds 3.3 ypa At least Taylor had the excuse he was playing on one leg, huh?
  6. Well, nice weapons have made Case Keenum seem pretty "franchise", and there are people in this forum calling for him to be signed by the Bills. I wonder how he'd fare with an o-line often sturdy as wet toilet paper, a running game which disappears entirely whole games, and a revolving cast of receivers like Deonte Thompson, Brandon Tate, and Andre Holmes. Dak Prescott seemed pretty "franchise", but pull a few pieces from his stellar supporting cast and suddenly he looks a lot more mortal. Speaking of looking mortal, there's another ongoing thread about Derek Carr who is (of course) pretty "franchise - yet is having problems this year. Per the general thread consensus, it's the fault of poor pass protection. Can such a thing be possible? As noted, Taylor had Watkins and Woods to throw to most of his first year and a bit less than half of his second year. This season he's had nothing close to that grade of target and has also seen the team's running game atrophy due to scheme change / line injury. Plus pass protection has even worsened. Funny how those developments map so closely to your account of Taylor "regressing", because teams "figured him out". Must be a complete coincidence.........
  7. First of all, we were talking about the deep ball : Matthews is a number 2 or 3 possession receiver, ideally in the slot. On Benjamin's value as a deep receiver I don't claim certain knowledge, but he's barely been on the same field with Taylor - even counting Sunday's limping performance. As for teams "figuring out" TT - or his statistic being front-loaded - are you serious ?!? Exactly how "front-loaded" would they have to put up an 8.25 ypa average over fifteen games? Is it your theory Taylor averaged 12ypa until those gosh-darn teams "figured him out" half-way, then the number dropped precipitously down to 4.5? I can provide you this : Taylor averaged over 8ypa thru his first twelve games with Watkins and Woods both playing, so there wasn't any drop off from 12 to 15. Maybe the teams "figured him out" somewhere in the middle - but then forgot. I guess it's a theory, right?
  8. Watkins wasn't on the field half of last year - and played on a broken foot when he was. You do remember that, right? Over the past two seasons, the (15) games when Watkins & Woods both played, Taylor's numbers were : 63.6% comp. 8.25 YPA. 27 TD passes. 6 INTs Taking note of that 8.25 ypa : If you go over to NFL Statistics to see how that lines up with this season's (15) game averages, you find only Sam Bradford, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Deshaun Watson with a higher yards per attempt (obviously all of them having truncated seasons). Next is Tom Brady, at 8.1 ypa. That suggests the deep ball didn't "suck" when Taylor actually had NFL-grade receivers on the field.......
  9. First, lets be honest here : You said Taylor accumulated all his numbers in fourth quarter garbage time. Wrong. You said that Taylor played bad. Wrong. No amount of flailing around is going to change the fact you screwed up. I'm curious; did you even watch the game? Remember - perhaps - a Nick O'Leary fumble which killed a drive? Remember - perhaps - a Jordan Matthews fumble which killed a drive? Remember - perhaps - eleven penalties for 99 yards? An o-line with all the steadfastness of wet toilet paper? Taylor repeatedly swamped by the Jet's rush as soon as he set his feet to throw? If you need help remembering the game - as you obviously do - why not go back and read any next day account? Not a one will support your opinion of Taylor's performance. Most said he was about the only Bill who showed up to play.
  10. "Tyrod played like crap against the Jets round 2 until the 4th QTR" Jet's Round Two : Taylor's first half numbers were 11-14, 79% completion, 115 yrds, 8.21 ypa, and a TD pass. - and no interceptions, of course. Maybe you should review a stat sheet before responding again? Or some evidence ...... any evidence ..... at least one fact...... any fact....... It would save you a world of embarrassment.....
  11. Four points : (1) Taylor's supporters have been hammered all year for (allegedly) making excuses for TT's play and over-selling his performance. Now we see the COP (Cult of Peterman) excusing and over-selling a dozen times beyond anything we ever did - and to a degree just plain wacko. That's a bit much to take, though it's a shame if the reaction comes out as abuse on NP's head. Because it is possible Peterman may turn into something good. Also : If Taylor finds himself on a half-way functional team with reasonable talent, you'll probably be surprised how good he turns out. (2) All interceptions were Peterman's fault except the first. The piss-poor o-line, terrible receiver play, and horrible offensive play-calling have been a constant all year without multi-interceptions resulting. Whether in the pros, college, or high school, quarterbacks don't get to write off interceptions because of a fierce rush. He throws it; he owns it. (3) The NP Mythos jumps from debut aberration to white-out blizzard, skipping entirely over New England. Perhaps because there wasn't much of Peterman's superior qualities to be seen in that game either? (4) Lots of good wreck diving off the coast near Wilmington, going out of Morehead or Beaufort.....
  12. Taylor played well in both Jets games. Please explain exactly how you've convinced yourself otherwise. That would be interesting to hear. Not being a fan of Taylor doesn't have to make you stupid, ya know?
  13. Hilarious !!!! The only way you can blame Taylor is by saying he should have junked the coach's called play ?!? It's time for me to offer you soothing words : TT-Obsessive-Disorder is surely treatable. Please don't give up hope. There's probably medication which can help you.
  14. Really? Those of us with a memory recall the Bills moving to the Miami 19yd line on their first OT possession, Reggie Bush losing 8yds on an ill-advised reverse, and Carpenter missing a 47yd field goal..... Sorry - I'm not getting into the spirit of this. Let me try again : Really? Those of us with a memory recall the Bills moving to the Miami 19yd line on their first OT possession, Reggie Bush losing 8yds on an ill-advised reverse, and Carpenter missing a 47yd field goal.
  15. "God forbid the phins get up by 3 next Sunday, with taylor we never catch up" And yet the last time the Bills played the Dolphins they fell behind Miami by fourteen points, and Taylor led them back. Then they fell behind by fourteen points again, and Taylor led them back. Then they fell behind by fourteen points a third time, and Taylor led them back, taking the lead with less than a ninety seconds left on a fourth-down touchdown pass. So maybe God doesn't forbid it at all, ya know? Of course that was with a different OC, and two real receivers playing - Watkins and Woods. Over the previous two seasons Taylor averaged over 8yds an attempt the 15 games he had them to throw to. "the change at QB from vet to rook made this look like a real NFL team" Really? I must have missed that against New England, when Peterman was 6 of 15 for 50 yards
  16. There's a weird amount of unreality to a lot of this discussion. A couple of points : (1) All of Peterman's interceptions were on him except the one which bounced off the receivers hands. At no level of football are interceptions not the quarterback's fault because of a pass rush, or being hit by a rusher. Likewise, the strip fumble off Taylor in the Chargers game was all on TT. As for what Taylor would have done against that rush, you saw the answer in the Thursday nite game against the Jets. Taylor took some sacks, made some plays, and had a pretty good game - despite being repeatedly hammered. He did not throw five interceptions. He did not throw up half-dead prayerful ducks. (2) This business about Peterman superiority as a passer is pretty hilarious. We saw them both play against San Diego, and Taylor played better. Se saw them both play against New England, and it was pretty much a wash. You can make a case for New Orleans, but garbage time doesn't get any more garbagy than that. When will this superiority ever be more than wishful dreaming? Last week versus New England : Tyrod was 9 of 18 for 65 yards 0 TD and 1 INT Last week versus New England : Nate was 6 of 15 for 50 yards 0 TD and 0 INT
  17. Look, you don't like Taylor - Fine. But you don't have to be such a weasel about it. For instance, lets re-write your little catechism above and do away with the fudging. Last week versus New England : Tyrod was 9 of 18 for 65 yards 0 TD and 1 INT Last week versus New England : Nate was 6 of 15 for 50 yards 0 TD and 0 INT Imagine that - an entirely different story! The Cult of Peterman has much to teach Taylor fans about the art of excuses and how to use selective statistics
  18. And yet in the previous game against the Jets, Taylor played well (and hard) for sixty minutes while much of the team was as flat as a pancake. That included the o-line, which led to TT getting hammered all game. Who was benched after that game? How does that fit with your theory? In the Jets game, McCoy got 25yds at 2.1 yards per carry. Maybe he should have been benched? Yes, McCoy is easily the best running back on the team and is hampered by blocking and scheme, but you don't seem to be the kind of guy who accepts those kinds of excuses. At least not where Taylor is concerned. The bottom line? Taylor played well against the Bucs, Raiders and Jets - had a bad game against the Saints - and then was benched. Meanwhile, the defense is giving-up a league worst 400 yds of offense per game in that stretch, but why quibble over that? The "leadership" thingie for McDermott to do was bench Taylor, right?
  19. Well, this is definitely like talking to a brick wall, but one more shot. After all, reason should be common ground for everyone. (1) Fifteen games is not a "small sample". I pointed that out before; I'm doing so again. (2) The metrics I provided - completion percentage, yards per attempt, touchdowns and interceptions - are highly important. The metric you provided - number of attempts - is almost completely worthless. That's a real big problem for your argument. (3) I have one point to make in this particular debate : Taylor performed very well with good - not elite - talent at wide receiver. That isn't an opinion; it's just following the numbers. And there shouldn't be any controversy in pointing that out. You have to wonder why some people are so desperate to deny such a simple fact.
  20. If you watched the game you know Taylor played well. Why pretend otherwise?
  21. (1) Does fifteen games really qualify as a "select few games" in your mind? (2) So the "deficiencies to Taylor's game" somehow don't show up when he's throwing to legit-NFL-grade-receivers for (15) games - virtually an entire season? (3) Apparently you didn't notice your stats show little or no "regression" from '16 (a year spent mostly throwing to scrubs) and '17 (a year spent throwing to scrubs, with a major fall-off in the running attack to boot). Your "regression" seems to be mostly off '15 - when Taylor had a much stronger supporting cast. Coincidence? Of course !!! (4) I'm curious : Do you honestly think a sieve of an o-line, a rushing attack which disappears entirely for whole games, and a receiving group from the Island of Misfit Toys is really irrelevant to this "regression" of yours - because of the "deficiencies to Taylor's game"? So Taylor is the only quarterback in the entire league where the lack of talent around him is irrelevant..... You said Taylor played bad against the Jets. You said that was part of the cause for his benching. Taylor didn't play bad against the Jets. It's not complicated; you made a mistake. It's best to stop digging, the hole's deep enough as it is.
  22. By the clarity of your reasoning, Dak Prescott has "regressed" over this past month alone. Whoda thunk it? Or maybe defense coordinators just figured Dak out? Could that be it? Do you even believe what you're peddling? Here's the thing : Over 2015 & 2016, Taylor had a real pair of NFL receivers only 15 games total (Watkins & Woods playing). When that occurred he did this : 63.6% comp. 8.25 YPA. 27 TD passes. 6 INTs Maybe he "regressed" when they were replaced by Brandon Tate & Justin Hunter, and defensive coordinators couldn't "figure Taylor out" when they got back on the field. Get to work on that theory. We're all eagerly waiting......... Your reply is a bit incoherent. Are you admitting to the fact Taylor played well in the Jets game or not?
  23. Taylor played well in the Jets game, so your list is a fail right off the bat. And before you bring up nonsense about "garbage time", Taylor's first half numbers were 11-14, 79% completion, 115 yrds, 8.21 ypa, and a TD pass. - and no interceptions, of course. So, to sum up : Taylor played well vs the Buccaneers, Raiders, and Jets - had a bad game against the Saints - and was then benched. Meanwhile, the defense was giving up a league-worse 400yds per game over the same stretch, but why quibble about that? Also : If you want an explanation for the "crap offense" at Carolina, then I suggest you definitely focus on Dennison. Because how else do you go from the league-leading rushing attack of '16 - to 14yds total by the Bills' running backs in that game? As for Taylor, he was only 80% of the team's rushing, 90% of it's total yardage, and 100% of it's first downs. For that matter, he could have even won that hideous game if an overwhelmed rookie had shown a smidgen of ball awareness - but let's put that behind us....
  24. Whatever Evans can become, he was way, way too raw coming out of college. Another year might have made a major difference, but there was rumors his family had some serious financial issues and he thought he couldn't wait. He showed lots of promise - but quarterbacks who "show promise" in college rarely make the step up in the pros.
  25. "I think this is fairly well established." In your mind maybe. I'm generous enuff to grant you that........
