I think he has a very good chance to start over KW. I think Meatball will be the one used in heavy rotation to keep him fresh because as much as I love the guy he's not the same guy he was 3-5 years ago.

EXACTLY why I think Beane blew the '18 draft. -Rd. 1
billsbackto81 replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only thing McBeane screwed up in this whole draft process was underestimating the Jets and letting them leapfrog them to #3. Kudos to NYJ for realizing the urgency and buying a top spot early to acquire a potential franchise QB when they knew others would be hovering like vultures. We may never know which QB of the top 4 OBD wanted because they didn't secure a spot fast enough but one thing is certain, it wasn't Rosen like so many here wanted. No, they are not taking a DT at 12 when they already acquired one in FA and the draft was pretty deep at that position to begin with. They ended up getting a highly touted DT anyway by being patient so kudos to them on that. At #22 options were available at WR and OL but when you see a blue chip LB still on the board (a BIG position of need I might add) you make the move. Edmunds is a beast, freak of nature type player who excels in coverage and sideline to sideline pursuit which is perfect for the McD scheme. If Allen is the QB they wanted all along then they did outstanding not having to give up the other first pick to get him. If they wanted Mayfield or Darnold , well they got gut punched. Personally I think Darnold is the only other QB they might have preferred over Allen. Darnold being the better QB while Allen being the better physical athlete. Bills were not walking away from this draft without THEIR QB! Going into the season with Mr. Katherine Webb, Peterman or (Rudolph, White, Lauletta, Ferguson or whoever else) wasn't going to cut it. Hit us back in 3 years when it all pans out. -

RD1, Pick 7: Josh Allen QB - Wyoming

I like the precision in Rosens' game. Very fluid and his ball placement is pretty. But,........ He is 2 or 3 concussions from a second career in tennis. Considering how the NFL treats possible concussions with the new protocol he might not make it to year 3. He'll be going up against the Rams, Hawks and Niners defenses twice a year. God bless him. Allen is a brick of a man and is suited for NFL punishment and Western New York. -

WRs flying off the board. Hoping Gallup is available when we pick. I'm sure Miller will be gone by then. -
Slap in the face, NFL.com poll...

Maybe they meant which “non playoff” team got the best QB prospect in the draft. This factor would obviously exclude the Bills. -
Bills essentially traded a 1st, 2nd, Watkins and Glenn

Not saying Allen can’t start but that wouldn’t be ideal, would it? He’ll need seasoning and I don’t expect him to see the field immediately. I totally expect a step back this season and that’s ok with me. McCarron wasn’t anointed the starter, that’s true. But at this moment where do you think he sits on the depth chart? -
Introducing Myself, and some Allen thoughts

Welcome. Solid first post. Pretty much agree with everything you’ve said. I was also hoping for Rosen but as fans we have to acknowledge that McBeane had their choice of either Josh and they chose Allen. I’m not a scout and admit don’t know much about Allen other than he has a canon arm. He’s the one they picked for reasons at this point they are only privy to. I’m assuming their following the Carolina model they had with Cam and Luke ( in Edmunds case). Maybe they didn’t like Rosen’s elitus attitude and thought he’d be tougher to develop and coach. Allen will have a chance to develop and work on the craft, he strikes me as a hard worker. Maybe one day be the face of the franchise for the next 15 years. -
Explain why we should trust McBeane on offense?

Edmunds is a freak of nature. 4.54 speed on someone that big is crazy. If you look at his highlight reel not only is he a technically solid tackler but he makes more arm tackles than anyone I've seen. He literally rips ball carriers down with his arms when he doesn't square them up and has to extend. Whether this translates to the pro game is yet to be seen but man can this kid go side to sideline like Seau used to. -
Why all the picks for a project QB?
billsbackto81 replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's nonsense. He may need some seasoning with certain mechanics but he's not that raw a prospect. He was Top 3 in mostly everyone's charts. -

I think many are forgetting that at this moment AJ McCarron is the starting QB and hopefully this regime doesn't rush Allens development like Whaley and Co. did with EJ. Allen is a project with tremendous upside. Like Mahomes he will have the opportunity to sit, learn and develop. Hone his skills so when he does see action he's not overwhelmed. -
What has this front office done to date that has your panties in a bunch? Getting rid of the dead weight of previous regimes? Drafting immediate starters like White, Dawkins, and Milano? Acquiring draft capital to secure future franchise blue chip talent? Infusing a winning attitude and culture that was sorely lacking? Clearing cap space that will lead to quality FA signings next season? Making the playoffs for the first time in 17 years as a rookie coach and GM? You're right! If they keep throwing me this crap not only will I accept it but I'll gladly smell it all day long. FTR, I wanted Rosen as well. But I'm leaving the judging of talent to those paid well to do so and I trust their instincts. They've done ok so far.

I guess you're right. Playing in a tropical paradise like Denver for Elway, Boston for Brady or Green Bay for Rodgers can't compare to the harsh weather Buffalo has.

They're afraid the Browns take Allen instead of Darnold. And if the Browns take Allen with the Bills already having secured #2 they'll lose their minds since he's the only QB they'll consider at 2. They want to make sure if they part with 2 it's for a Kings ransom. I'd hold off if I were Beane and if the Browns take Darnold the price drops to 12, 22 and a second. Can't lose next years 1st just to jump 10 spots when you're already giving up 2 of them.

Rosen or Darnold? Who's your pick?
billsbackto81 replied to ColdFront_USAF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe this to be true as well. I think they would prefer Darnold but he seems unattainable with everyone believing he goes #1 or #2 to the Giants if they hold their position. -
Yeah,..... but did you "start" one?
