All-Pro DT Chris Jones not at Chiefs Mandatory Minicamp
Zerovoltz replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Allow me to present this in another light.... KC pays big money to Mahomes, Kelce, and Jones...and have spent big on Thuney, and Jawaun Taylor. Some guys who will are up next. L Jarious Snead. They are going to let him walk. Willie Gay. Walking. Bolton. They will look at paying him. Creed Humphrey. Wlll get paid. Trey Smith. Probably will get paid. KC does NOT have and isn't going to have any 25 to 30 million dollar WR's nor CB's. Two things will allow KC to keep Jones, Creed, and probably Bolton and possibly Smith..... They have proven their offense can run with mid and drafted cheap WR. And they are very good at drafting and signing UDFA that are very capable DB's. Also, Justin Rieds big deal will come off the books soon too....KC has his cheap replacements ready to go as well. I think the Chiefs are kind of a stars and jags type team that keeps it going through good drafting. Jones is going to get paid. DT's play well into their mid 30's. Jones is awesome and he isn't "fat" he is tall and lean...and in supurb physical shape. He played the most snaps in the NFL at IDL last year..so he has stamina and is durable on top of that. The Bills should consider plowing money into the O line, and then at positions that Josh Allen can't directly elevate like DL/Pass Rusher....and keep on drafting DB's in high numbers....just rotate them through....shutdown corners aren't as valuable when teams run 3 and 4 wide all the time...you shut down 1 guy with your 25 million dollar QB....most teams can sheme around it. Better to draft 3 or 4 of them every year....and field what sticks...and let them walk when it's payday....rince repeat. Same as WR. -

If it hasn't already been said..... Josh McDaniels is a freaking idiot. -

....the "far apart" .....is just that today is too far from the end of training camp. -
It's been renewed for a 2nd season. I hope they go with Allen as the top elite guy then maybe DAK as the kirk cousins guy that is good but can't get over the hump And then maybe Mayfield or Garropollo as the vet getting his last shot at the job OR ...if you don't go that way, then do Geno Smith....a guy that was cast off to the side for years before getting his chance and making good.

IMO wishing a woman to have a miscariage is worse than calling a woman fat......but you might be right. It's subjective. However you want to look at it. All I am saying is if people want to make something of this particular instance where Toney immaturely and rudely spars with some random fan on twitter and calls her fat etc etc... that's fine. If that's a big deal to someone..that's also fine. To me, it's not a big deal...and neither is Von's texts and so on. It's just interesting that there are still people who cling to the idea that the boy scouts on the team you root for are all angels and everyone else employs thugs and scumbags. That's not the case. Not for your team and not for mine. LOL....more stupid immaturiity. Just own it and say you should have just let it go. he didn't get hacked LOL.
-
Nothing... What has Toney been found guilty of? Also nothing. I wish Toney was down at the soup kitchen voulunteering and rescuing cats from trees and taking orphans to the zoo. He's not. He's calling random fans fat and ugly. Not great. Either all this stuff from everyone who does it on every team is a big deal or none of it is. You can't call it out when the other teams guy does it but look the other way when your guy does it.
-
Where is everybody? Did you all go read up on Von Millers less than awesome past and decide this Toney stuff isn't actually that big a deal after all? <crickets> Again...Toney is a jackwagon. He shouldn't have sais this stuff, he shouldn't have let it bother him. He's clearly not that mature and thin skinned. Not that big a deal.
-
That was a big deal. That guy is in prison now where he belongs.

Here are text messages from a high profile current Bills player to his pregnat GF. I never saw one of you say squat other than this player can help us get over the hump and win a SB. In the alleged texts, HIGH PROFILE PLAYER writes, “Praying for a miscarriage” with a praying hands emoji. He also goes into a rant in which he writes, “f–king disappear!!! and get an abortion.” Additionally, the text messages include a long list of texts in which HIGH PROFILE PLAYER calls Denise a “f–king liar” and says “I should’ve left your dog a– in the streets.” Finally, in a calmer moment, HIGH PROFILE PLAYER tries to initiate a hookup with Denise. He writes that the two can hook up and stop fighting or keep arguing. I don't care about this text or the ones Toney sent. Niether are great....niether are illegal. One guy plays for your team, one for mine. Some of these dudes aren't swell folks. I've accepted it. And so I stand by my point...this isn't a big deal.
-
I'm not defending Toney. But, I am saying this isn't pretty much a big nothing. He shouldn't have said it. His launguage is coarse. It's immature to let a troll get under your skin. None of it is good. But in the grand scheme of things, some trash talk doesn't register or move the needle much. As I've pointed out earlier, NFL players aren't all find upstanding pillars of the community. Some of them are just not great people. Fine. You aren't in jail? You play for my team? Go win football games and hopefully keep your face and name off the police blotter and TMZ.
-
Von Miller for example....has way worse in his recent past and I haven't noticed anyone here upset that the Bills signed him and that he's on the team. I am under no illusions that football players are all milk and cookie eating good people. Alot of them are not. If the legal system /society has determined they are employbable and they play for my team on Sunday.....I'll root for them to help my team win. Does'nt mean I condone this or other stuff....but having the expectation that these guys are all wonderful people is unrealistic.
-
Perhaps I am trying to straddle a fine line here...I am not trying to defend his charachter. He should have just let this go. It's just a trolling twitter giants fan...but this particluar incident by itself,....isn't much of anything. Giants fan - you suck, your music sucks. Toney. You are ugly and a coward behind a twitter account. Say it to my face next time. .... Doesn't really rank up there with worst things ever. Again..I don't condone this stuff and would rather he not be engaging in it or using the language he does. I also know alot of football players come from backgrounds and cultures where this is the norm. I'll take a 65 yard punt return in the SB and his talent at making folks miss...in exchange for putting up with immature twitter exchanges. This event in and of itself....is not a big deal.
-
no, not at all. I don't have a high opinion of Toney's charachter. But when a guy just disputes another fan and trash talks..this is what constitutes a scumbag? more or less he's just telling the person they are wrong, and to go F off. Not great, but what is there to it other than Toney should know better than to let some random fan get under his skin?
-
please pointout the what about this makes him a scumbag.
-
....this isn't a big deal.... Toney shouldn't be engaging with these people, but this is a big nothing. The 3rd and 6th KC gave up for a guy on a rookie deal and who KC hasn't invested any new money into, already paid for itself with his performance in the SB. IF anything, maybe this, and few more of these out of sorts outbursts and KC can save a few bucks at the negotiating table when the time comes.
-
I like this..... I'll add - Drew Lock is traded to the Packers. Jordan Love will be bad and the Packers liked Lock in that draft before Denver traded up in front of them to take him. Lock establishes himself as the Packer starter by seasons end.
-
Also.... <homer mode engaged> Chiefs go 15-2, host another AFCCG and go on to win SB again vs 49ers. The Chiefs and Niners as a SB isn't bold...but 15-2 ....that's not eactly the 11.5 Vegas has for the O/U. (KC loses to Miami in Germany, and then having secured the 1 seed, rests players for week 18 VS the Raiders and lose that)
-
fortunately, through the power of the world wide interwebs, I dont' have to be in bar in Rochester...(but that would be cool) First...let's remember these are supposed to be BOLD..... 1. Washington makes the playoffs. IMO, the NFC is very weak, and even with two of the best NFC teams in their division (Dallas and Philly) the Commanders still have a pretty favorable schedule, from finsihing las in the division last season, even though they were basically .500. They have what I consider a strong D...and I know Sam Howell was a 5th round draft pick and is unproven, but he was on a 1st round trajectory for a lot of his college career and I like Eric Bienemy having a shot to instill some zeal in the commander offense. I think the Giants overachieved by A LOT last season...and are due for a step back this year. Given the very weak field and schedule...I can see a path to the playoffs here that will surprise folks. Keep in mind...there are always a couple teams from year to year no one has playoff expectations for, that rise up. The Giants last season....is the Commanders this year. 2. Bengals miss the playoffs. This one...BOLD....is the opposite of the above prediction. The AFC is a guantlet and the AFC NORTH....is the hardest division in football IMO. Baltimore nearly beat, and should have beaten cincy in the playoffs....and they get a healthy, happy Lamar back, with improved targets and an offense that should be more opened up. At any rate, Bmore is a tough out on any given sunday. Pittsburgh managed to have a winning record while suffering injuries and breaking in a new QB....who showed himprovement as the year went on. I think they'll be even more competitive this year with Watt back and Pickett a year seasoned. I think their draft was a home run as well. Cleveland is a pretty good roster...and if Watson can regain any sort of form.....they also will be tough...plus they just always play the Bengals well no matter what lately. That is a true hell for the Bengals to have to emerge out of. Plus playing a 1st place schedule....and continued O line problems....and you'll all see how awful Orlando Brown is to boot. I think the line is WORSE than last year. Not much margin for error. The Bengals surprisingly miss the post season. 3. Saints go 12-5 Not as bold as the first 2...but Saints in a bad NFC...in a bad division overall....with the best QB...and relatively good roster....seems like a chance to make hay. 4. Cardinals go 0-17 Maybe not that bold..they are odds on favorites to land the no.1 overall pick....but I think the roster is rancid enough to enteratain losing all 17 games. I think IF they capture the 1/1 in the draft...they will race to the podium in January and draft a new QB, and move on from Murray. 5. Steelers go 12-5 So...you might say the Steeler have more or less the same hell to endure that the Bengals do...and that's correct, but I think Tomlin is a better coach, and can naviagate the division and a somewhat easier schedule. Tomlin can win tough division games. I think with an ascending QB and roster, they surprise.

Washington Commanders make the playoffs. The Bengals miss the playoffs. Saints go 12-5 Cardinals go 0-17 Steelers go 12-5

I know the Bills saw some of this too...but teams just played a ton of cover 2 shell VS the Chiefs this past year...dropped 7 or 8 into coverage. ....Andy Ried really preferes that the ball go to a player who is open and alot of the play calls are designed to get a guy open. KC doens't throw "contested catch" type stuff if they can help it. Never run that corner fad in the red zone for example... part of that is because KC lacks a jump ball type WR....and part of it is KC likes to use speed and if teams give you short...KC takes short.
-
1. My intent isn't to make this thread a Mahomes thread. 2. I would bet money that if Diggs isn't on this roster in 2023, the Bills offense keeps on truckin'. 3. If you want to argue about the O line.....I will listen to that argument. 4. I am sticking to my point. Allen is an elite NFL QB and does not need an elite WR 1. I would argue he and the Bills would be better off with a deep group of good WR. 5. Joe Burrow has a bad line and elite WR's 3 deep. They were 12th in yards per play. KC was 1 and Bills were 2. 6. The Bills were 6th in NY/A KC was 1. Cincy was 8. The Bills had nearly the same amount of passing yards on 36 fewer attempts. The guy who needs the elite WR's is Burrow, not Allen.
