Gameday Thread PreGame Bills vs. Chiefs
Zerovoltz replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey Bills fans....I didn't ever really think this day would come. Until just recently, I never thought Josh Allen would ever become "the franchise". I'm glad that he has though....this is the best KC/Bufallo matchup since the 93 AFC title game. Just a few short years ago, who would have thought a KC VS Bufallo game would feature a matchup of elite QBs? I of course will be rooting for my Chiefs, but if you guys do win, I sure hope it isn't like that route KC put on you guys on MNF back in like 92 or whatever it was.....Im hoping for a good game....(and for the Chiefs to cover...I have them -4 1/2) PS.....no excuses for KC whatever happens....as long as we have Mahomes....we are defending champions.....if we lose, it's because we deserve to. -

FWIW....mahomes has never lost a game by more than one score.....they are IN every game to the last with him. -
Is Mahomes better than Josh Allen and Tre White ... now?
Zerovoltz replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First.....instead of debating this......I'd like to point out how very rare this WIN-WIN trade has turned out. KC got a superstar QB....usually when one team makes a trade and is on the side that ends up with the superstart QB...that means the other team must have lost the trade.....but that is NOT the case here. Buffalo ultimately ended up with star CB, a franchise QB, and has accomplished EVERYTHING they could have hoped for when they made that deal. Both teams got exactly what they wanted out of it and both teams are better for it. It's amazing how it all turned out. saw this nugget in the discussion....and have seen this and heard this A LOT. .....KC has the core locked up for for the next few years as it is....and KC has drafted well...there is talent in the pipeline that is cheap and viable. ...Buffalo will have the same challenge very soon too....and it's a WAY WAY WAY better problem/challenge than not having a franchise QB take up alot of cap space. -
I assume you are bashing Lamar for throwing a "high" number of short TD passes....most TD passes are short....becaus they are easier...if you look at all QB's they all have many more short TD throws than long ones.

LOL.... Patrick Mahomes has NEVER socred fewer than 31 points VS Bill Belichick. -
I found this paragraph to be a bit homer-ish....."He can't throw like Josh"? Allen has a "better" arm? What throw does Josh make that Mahomes can't or doesn't make? ....Better Arm...both can launch it. if we are talking arm strength....they both have elite arm strength. ....then last sentence...LOL...Mahomes "can't learn to throw like Josh" ....uh....OH NO! my MVP, and Super Bowl MVP apparently can't throw like Josh Allen....man...what a bummer! Most offensive coordinators are able to dial up some plays where guys end up open. Daboll has his share of these. Mahomes often finds and hits these targets when they are "wide open" He also hits guys when they aren't wide open and throws them open etc....it's good when the QB does both. Uh...... Josh Allen 16 of 39 TD passes, inside 10 yards...that's 41% Lamar, 21/46 45% not exactly the stat you want to be trying to use here. The blueprint is out there. You must get pressure on Mahomes with your front 4 consistantly, and you give a bunch of different looks with man/zone combos that make mahomes have to process long enough for your pass rush to move him. The Chargers are a team that has given us (KC) fits with this for years. The 49ers were able to do it in the SB...KC still won....but that's how you slow Mahomes. I haven't seen enough of you guys to know yet, but if your front 4 can't get it done....that's not good for you. Happy Days makes an astute observation here. Mahomes was 16/19 with 3 TDS and something like 250 yards VS the Blitz against hte Ravens. Blitzing mahomes is a BAD idea. he kills blitzs. You need the front 4 to win on their own. KC more than doubled them in yardage etc. While the ravens did come withing 7 points in the 3rd Q when the score became 27-20, KC had some miscues that should have opened up a bigger score....missed XP, missed FG, that's 4 points, fumbled inside 20 on first drive of Q3. Didn't convert on a 3rd and 1, then 4th and 1, TO on downs. Score was closer than actual play indicated. KC D only gave up 13 points. Same thing last year. KC won 33-25. KC was up 33-10 going into Q 4. Game was never in doubt....Balt got garbage time TD including last TD with like 30 seconds left in the game....and there were 2 4th downs in the 4th Q where Lamar litteraly was being sacked and just lobbed up prayers...and they caught both.....score was much closer than the game actually was. It wasn't that close.

Same as last year week 3 in KC when they played.....KC has completely obliterated these guys the last 2 times they've met. -
So many good young qbs in the NFL right now
Zerovoltz replied to Whkfc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do think the level of QB play overall, in the NFL has never been higher....and I think there are alot of contributing factors. 1. I do think, the NFL has come to understand that colleges are supplying guys that can run and pass, who aren't orthodox like the old days. 2. The rules favor passing, making it easier for some guys who might have been on the fringe, to now be successful 3. There are simply more people than ever being born and playing sports overall, wich was bound to lead to a few more genitically gifted, trained dudes that can QB 4. NFL scouting of QB has improved in the last decade...especially the last 5 years....they are getting better and knowing what to look for...so fewer busts. 5. The rookie NFL scale for draft picks has made it so that it isn't a franchise death nell when you miss on a 1st round QB like it used to be. Teams are willing to take the risk....Arizona was able to move on from Rosen after 1 season to draft Murray..that would NEVER have happend pre rookie scale. Alot of teams....like the Bills for example, could afford a guy like Allen who was high risk, high reward because the money wasn't prohibative if it didn't work. Still......all 32 can't be awesome....there will always be a degree of separation from best to worst. Also....as the passing games keep ramping up, we'll see teams like th 49ers and Titans shift to power run games or teams use big 3 TE sets against these small nickel and dime looks designed to prevent the pass......but yeah...QB play has never been better than it is now. -
I haven't had much else to comment on, besides Allen since I've been here...other than predicting preseason records for the entire NFL (a fools errand).....but I did want to post about this because I am not a chicken***t that talks and talks and then just runs away when it doesn't work out. My hot vietnamese wife makes killer fish sauce wings!
-
.....that doesn't have anything to do with it..... It's easy to admit this because Allen has completely exceeded what I thought he'd be....if you go back and look at what I thought would happen.....it's easy to admit because I was clearly wrong about it.
-
I thought there was some potential to be a Trubisky like reverse in the upward progress Allen made last year. (wrong of course)
-
I joined this board, after the trade that allowed KC to select Patrick Mahomes and have stuck around the last few years to see how things played out. I hung out here, speculating about all the 2018 QB's, the draft manuvering, and watched you guys all debate and discuss who you wanted the Bills to take. .....when the Bills took Allen.....I came here and put in my 2 cents. I did NOT think Allen would make it as an NFL QB. I was on the side of the debate that said, his completion pct is who he is, and who he's going to be. I didn't think he could improve enough to be much more than an enticiing novelty. I posted that opinion here numerous times. I am here today to tell you.....to admit....the I was WRONG. While I've always enjoyed watching Allen play, I'd always thought he'd ultimately be a flash in the pan in the big picture as time wore on. He's not. He's legit. He's taken a big leap each season he's been in the NFL. It's a credit to him, and especially to your coaching staff for identifying the talent, and the potential, and then actually getting Allen to progress. I want to thank you all for allowing me to be a part of your community and give my opinion. I have enjoyed it, and will continue to pop in from time to time. I'm sure I'll be around when KC plays the Bills...that should be fun. Anyhow....one more time.... I WAS WRONG ABOUT JOSH ALLEN. I'll be having that crow now.

The forumla that was a winner for decades is still a winner if they'd just go back to it.....make it about the game....and put some announcers in that are about the game. NFL football sells itself if you just let it. Even to casual fans or peole who don't understand the rules...you dont need to pander to them....they'll watch becasue everyone else is.... -
Predict the division winner: NFC South

I went Bucs...I think simply having Brady not turn the ball over will be enough to win alot of games. The Bucs D is legit. -
Predict the division winner: NFC East

I think it's the Cowboys easy. Dallas had some crazy stats that usually translate to alot more wins. Their season was an outlier last year. I think having McCarthy as HC will help....he has some SB ring cred at least and that counts for a little something. -

As a life long Missouri fan, Lock was fun to watch in college. He has charisma, he has a big arm. He moves fairly well. He started 4 years in college and some of the flaws he had then, he still has now, and he's always going to have them. In alot of ways, he's comparable to Allen...EXCEPT, Lock played with good coaching at top schools his whole life. So with Allen, theres always been this idea that there was alot of room for improvement....with Lock, I don't know how much more he can improve at this point... the main flaw Lock has, is that he sucks at timing routes. .....so for example....if the route is 10 yards then a sharp cut out, with the idea the ball should arrive just as the target is making the cut.....lock won't/can't do it. He will hold that ball until AFTER the target has made that cut and taken a step or 2, negating the advantage gained by the cutting target....allows the defender to recover, and contest the throw, or make a quick tackle, negating YAC. Lock throws a gorgeous deep ball, that is usually very accurate...and he'll throw that well, even to covered targets.. I think you'll see defenses keep the middle of the field covered and force him to throw outside the numbers...once he has to do this, he is ineffective and very turnover prone. He also has a GLARING tendancy to roll to the right....so again....he has some easy to detect and defend flaws....that will limit him and the offense. If we were to overcome these....he has top 10 physical tools. I don't think he can..he's had years to get this right and still hasn't. I was personaly in attendance during his senior year at a game MU vs Kentucky. UK locked up teh middle of the feild...made him throw outside....and Missouri and Lock produced 8 consecutive 3 and outs to finish out the game. We'll see..but I'm guessing Lock is one of these guys you'll see the talent and then wonder why the Broncos aren't better....he's an enigma. Good enough to win with...will cost his team a game or 2 or 3 on his own...and probably won't carry his team any wins on his own. -

As far as Diggs goes....that should help. Diggs is a good player. I've heard Zack Moss is good. There is alot to like about the Bills and all the arguments people are making for 11-12 wins are legit. They are well within the realm of plausability. I don't like the schedule though...the Bills may well be a better team this year but the record might not reflect that due to schedule. I do agree the Bills are one of just small handfull of teams that are legit to possibly win the AFC. I'm looking forward to that week 5 game in your place. KC traditionally doesn't win up there.
