If these polling results hold up and these states go the way Cook projects, it will be a disaster for the GOP on the scale of 1932. They will lose the presidency, lose control of the Senate, and lose more seats in the House. That Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are in the "lean Democrat" column is amazing. I don't think Arizona was considered even a "toss up state" early on. The other three were all supposed to be "toss ups". Arizona in the "lean Democrat" column, Georgia and Iowa are in the toss up column, and Texas is in the "lean Republican" column represent, IMO, a rejection by many independent and Republican voters of Trump and the GOP that's supported him. These four states have generally been "solid Republican" in previous presidential elections.

There are a couple of things that these stats suggest: 1) Many registered Republicans are going to stay on the sidelines this election cycle 2) Trump's attempts to suppress the mail-in/absentee vote looks to be blowing up in his face: mail in voting is not only significantly up in every state that has it, but it also seems to be suppressing Republican mail in voting while increasing Democratic mail-in voting. The chances of a kid as raw as Allen was coming out of college even being discussed as an MVP candidate in his third season are infinitesimal. This is why all the analysts are talking about him. Lamar Jackson was a terror running and passing at Louisville. The pros didn't like that he ran so much, and Louisville isn't SEC, so he was downgraded. Luck wasn't just on the Bills side. Allen got a good helping of it, too. Allen came to the Bills at the right time, when the organization had changed enough so that it was willing to support him with coaching, protection, and training. If he had come to the Bills in 2004 or 2013, or if he'd been drafted by the Jests, he'd be considered just another failed "project QB".

That's true but in any state or community, large or small, a ten fold increase in coronavirus cases resulting in hospitalizations could easily overwhelm the health care system(s) there. The good news is that the health care community is more prepared for a second wave and has better procedures to deal with it. The bad news is that some politicians continue to downplay the seriousness of the pandemic. It's much worse than the flu, and we don't know if the many deleterious effects that have been reported in recovered Covid 19 victims last only a month or two or are permanent.
