  2. Actually, shoshin originally posted the link in this thread, so he should get the thanks. I'd seen it before but I didn't post the link originally.
  3. I smell a rat in this story that your wife's hairdresser is telling and in the claims of the dentist in the news story, Rob Raimondi. That story was published in early August, less than 4 months after Cuomo issued his mask mandate. Hair salons in most of NY only opened in May, and in NYC only in late June. Raimondi operates in Manhattan (I looked him up) so he'd be seeing patients from within NYC. Gum disease isn't a problem that develops over a few weeks but over months or more commonly, years, of poor oral hygiene. Wearing masks may very well exacerbate existing gum problems but it's not likely to have caused the problem within weeks or months in people who didn't have gum disease to begin with. Moreover, I'm suspicious of this claim because health care workers have been wearing masks for hours at a time for decades without having noticeable gum problems, but this "problem" suddenly surfaces within months of the governor issuing a mask mandate.
  4. How about the national vote margin on December 8, which is the deadline, I think, for states to declare a winning candidate so that their electoral votes counted by the EC. With all the millions of early voters, I think that all the states will have enough of the absentee/mail-in votes counted by then to declare state winners.
  5. Probably the same place he planned to go if he lost in 2016, his bestie Vlad's town.
  6. That's the map that I was thinking of when I said "who gets the states right". A dozen or so posters could get the right overall number of EC votesm but the winner would be the one who got the most states right to come up with the winning EC count.
  7. Because somebody else named Donald J. Gunther applied for an absentee ballot and it was sent to the wrong address. Unfortunately, the live Donald J. Gunther won't get his ballot unless the BOE is notified and sends him a new one. Of course, the ballot could have come from out of state.
  8. No, it means that the Democratic Party's base is far closer to the center of the political spectrum than to the left wing, so the far left makes a lot of noise but doesn't control the party. The Democratic base picked Biden through the primary process because he's centrist like they are. He's too conservative in his views for most of the far left of the party to really like him, but unlike in 2016, they'll vote for him because he's better than Trump. Only Republicans think Biden is some kind of hidden lefty, and that's because the Republican base has ceded the center to the Democrats and the just right of center to independents.
  9. It's not peculiar at all. Democrats flirted with nominating base candidates back in the 70s and 80s, and learned that success in winning the presidency stems from appealing to not only to Democrats but winning over independents and some disaffected Republicans. Since 1992 -- 7 presidential elections -- the Democrats have won the popular vote in every single presidential election except 2004, although they lost the Electoral College in 2000 and 2016.
  10. I think in order to make any kind of educated guess, you have to look at the individual states anyway, so I'll go with the guessing the map. How about who gets the most states correct?

  12. Maybe what some posters ought to consider is NOT posting every retort that they've typed. Let some of the bull manure just go by.
  13. And your point? Monica Lewinsky was over 21 and she knew what she wanted and got it. This is about as relevant as Thomas Jefferson keeping his slave mistress Sally Hemmings in the White House.
  14. In case you didn't notice, the various supporters of Covid Donnie's anti-public health campaign continually pretend that the world has stood still since March.
  15. Exactly. The coronavirus doesn't only infect the old or the unhealthy, and not every chronic health problem is the result of "self destructive tendencies". It will infect whoever is within range of it when it lands.
  16. I didn't call Trump a pedophile. I said he was complicit. He had to know his friend was having sex with young girls because it wasn't just a one time thing with Epstein. Trump chose to do nothing about Epstein's propensity for little girls. He chose to praise that Maxwell woman who procured the girls for Epstein after she was arrested. He chose to excuse his courting of Qanon by claiming he opposed pedophilia as if that's the only thing in their agenda. His choices.
  17. At last night's Town Hall, Covid Donnie also bleated that he was "against pedophilia" under questioning from NBC's Savannah Guthrie when she kept asking about why he refused to denounce Qanon. He's apparently against pedophilia except when his pals engage in it, in which case he pretends "he knew nothing".
  18. Elections are won or lost on perceptions. In 2016, many voters perceived Covid Donnie to be an effective leader -- he was supposedly a "successful businessman" -- but they've learned differently. Now he has a public record as POTUS, and it says "INCOMPETENCE". It is what is. You accused Biden of lying, so you list them -- and include better "proof" than some moron posting unsupport BS on Twitter. Let me guess, you get your economic news from Twitter, right?
  19. Trump and Epstein were thick as thieves for decades. Given Trump's attitudes toward women, I can't believe he and Epstein didn't share "war stories", so I can't believe that Trump didn't know that Epstein was banging young girls. Either Trump didn't give a damn about it or he was so desperate for Epstein's "friendship" that he ignored it. Maybe Trump was worse than simply complicit. If it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, it's reasonable to believe it might be a duck. Maybe Nate just needed to say his piece, election be damned.
  20. October 16, 2020 - US recorded the highest number of new cases -- 61+K -- overnight. October 13, 2020 - The U of Washington's IHME projects that more than 363,000 Americans could die of the coronavirus by January 1, 2021 and more than 394,000 by February 1, 2021 with the seasonal flu making the coronavirus more deadly. Don't be a dumbass like Covid Donnie who has the luxury of the federal government paying the bill for his recent hospitalization for Covid-19. Be smart and get your flu shot. Be smarter and wear a mask and practice social distancing. Hospitalization for Covid-19 averages about $20-30k above what private or public (Medicare, Medicaid) health insurance covers. October 15, 2020 - 217,717 Americans have died of coronavirus with a single day death toll of 813. October 14, 2020 - 216,904 Americans have died of coronavirus with a single day death toll of 909. Average daily deaths from coronavirus, October 8-9, 2020: 861 Average daily deaths from coronavirus, October 7-13, 2020: 851 Average daily deaths from coronavirus, September 30-October 6, 2020: 707 October 13, 2020 - 215,995 Americans have died of coronavirus. 21. I'm with snafu on his points above and the others he's made in the rest of his posts. I come to PPP to discuss political issues, and it's hard to have discussions if everybody shares the same views, which I'm afraid might likely happen in the club format.
  22. They're in the thread Covid-19 vs Trump. Spikes in hospitalizations eventually lead to spikes in deaths, starting about 3 weeks out from when patients enter the hospital. Deaths probably won't occur as frequently as they did in the spring because the symptoms are well known, testing is more widespread, treatments are better, and people are entering hospitals earlier, before they're critically ill. The threat of the local medical system being overwhelmed is very real. In rural areas and small cities, just10 critically ill covid patients can overwhelm the resources available. We saw that in parts of rural Texas this spring and early summer where there simply no more beds available and patients had to be med evac'd by helicopter to other hospitals. Moreover, hospitals in some of the hardest hit metropolitan areas were able to get extra staff from around the country because the pandemic was only in a relatively few areas. Now, it's everywhere, and medical staff in many areas are already stretched thin.
  23. Exactly this. Facebook and Twitter and other social media platforms are privately owned, so there's no "free speech" on any of them just whatever "speech" the owner(s) allow. It's why every user has to agree to the terms of service before joining. This concept seems impossible for you Righties to comprehend You could always start your own social media site dedicated to the worship of Covid Donnie and the promotion of Alt Right stupidity, but that would take money, ambition, business savvy, and technical expertise. It would also seriously cut into your time to commiserate with your fellow snowflakes in whinefests about "censorship" on PPP.
