  1. ATVs have significantly more power today than they had back in the 1980s. I think what keeps the death rate down are helmet requirements and the higher percentage used as "working" machines used by farmers, gas well maintenance workers, loggers, etc. There are a lot more middle age and older riders, too.
  2. What I can't imagine is Leslie Frazier being so desperate for a HCing gig that he'd settle for the Texans' job.
  3. Louis Henry Gates, Jr, historian and host of the PBS series "Finding Your Roots" has found that most Blacks in the US who have had their DNA tested have about 24% European DNA, much of it originating during the antebellum era. It's likely to be a similar percentage throughout the entire Black population except for those with recent African ancestry. So, it's not uncommon for many mixed raced individuals to not look particularly "black". According to people who are worried about racial purity, "one drop of Black blood makes you Black". Great sarcasm ... some of the posters didn't get it. The Fish will be looking for a new HC every few years until they get a better owner than Ross and his predecessors.
  4. "I believe the overwhelming majority couldn't care less about race, they care about championships. The only colord they really care about are Silver Lombardi's and green cash flow. " Billionaires can't be racists? or misogynists? or religious bigots? or crooks? Really? "His career is most likely over and it has everything to do with the fact he is now a liability, not an asset." If the majority of owners really don't care about race but championships, then why is Flores "a liability"? He's proven to be a good coach who can get his players to produce above their talent level. How is that a liability in your supposed color-blind NFL?
  5. Right-o. 70% of current NFL players are black, and the percentage of blacks in the NFL has been 50% or more for decades, yet only 3% (exactly 1) of NFL HCs are black or mixed race. When it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck and it swims like a duck, it's likely a duck ... except in the alternative world inhabited by those who deny that ducks exist.
  6. Back when McDermott and Beane were hired, the fact that they weren't related to any current or former NFL coaches was raised in at least a couple of articles. The NFL is a nepotistic old boys club where "outsiders" white or black are only allowed in when "better" insiders aren't available, so there's limited opportunity for individuals unrelated to other members of the old boys club. Unfortunately, nepotism isn't illegal. Discrimination based on race is. If Flores is successful, then there may be more opportunities for Blacks to become HCs and execs.
  7. He sold his home in California, not his residence in Green Bay. "Allen type play"? More like he didn't even make a Ryan Tannehill type play in that game. Agree. Not only that but the climate is pretty mild, Nashville is a very popular metro, and the housing costs there are a fraction of those in California.
  8. Whether Darnold was once #1 on the Bills draft board or not is irrelevant. He sucks as an NFL QB. Pass.
  9. I remember complaints about the "Redskins" name going back to at least the late 1990s because the name is so disrespectful. Chiefs, Braves, Indians, Warriors etc aren't disrespectful because they were never generally used to insult people, and calls to change those team names are much more recent. BTW, when the Atlanta Braves first made the World Series in 1991, there were complaints about their "Tomahawk Chop" cheer. Maybe that was what led people to start questioning the Redskins name. If you cannot understand why Redskins is wrong for a team name, understand that it's like the difference between using "Italian", "Jewish", "Polish", "Puerto Rican", "Mexican", "German", "Cuban", "Irish", etc and the numerous derogatory terms bigots have used for people of these heritages over the years.
  10. I voted "Other". If the Bills are going to spend significant $$ on a QB2, I'd go with Minshew. I think Fitz will retire, but he's the only one from the list I'd be happy with. Guys like Minshew or Fitzpatrick or Taylor may lack physical talent but they've hung around the league for as long as they have because they know how to play QB. Darnold would be my last choice. I can't figure out the love fans have for these failed first rounders like him or Mariota. Failed first rounders just don't seem to be able to learn the game; maybe it's because they have so much physical talent, they don't work as hard as guys who know they're lucky to have a spot even on the practice squad. Ex-starting QBs who are past their primes like Dalton and Flacco are too expensive IMO for their current limited skill sets. Agree. I'd look for a QB who was a mid/late round draft pick that has been around the league a bit. Someone like Tyler Huntley of the Ravens. I'm sure there are numerous similar guys around the league. Use the $$ saved towards improving the interior of the OL or adding a veteran RB who can block and catch the ball out of the backfield.
  11. Wrong. Crude and rude behavior by fans is sad, but officially embracing rude and crude as part of a team's official name encourages fan bad behavior.
  12. Exactly. People who belong to a particular racial/ethnic group get to choose what they call themselves. People who don't belong to that group should respect that.
  13. You should know all about "Karens" since you see one every time you look in a mirror.
  14. Welcome to the 19th century. Yeah, "Redskin" is a derogatory term for a Native American -- and has always been a derogatory term even 200 years ago. "Indian" is simply an outdated term for Native American, much like "colored" or "*****" are outdated terms for African Americans.
  15. You mean the guy who is "Mayhem"? I've always like those. The Eli Manning commercials for Frank's Louisiana Hot Sauce are da bomb! I don't care how many times I see them, I just laugh.
  16. The Bengals also put a spy on Mahomes so that he couldn't run at will like he did against the Bills. It was the spy who finally sacked Mahomes on third down to force them to kick the FG to tie on the last play in regulation.
  17. Nobody has suggested that. What most posters are saying is that the Bills need to continue to provide Allen with weapons in response to the OP's idea that the Bills should "de-emphasize" skill positions in order to concentrate on improving their defense because Allen is such a great QB.
  18. Losing is part of life, sweetpea. There's always something you desperately want that you can't have, so grow up and deal with it even if you're chronologically "grown up".
  19. I would prefer to improve the OL, especially the interior, through FA or the draft first, and then add a bigger RB who's a decent blocker through FA. A lot of rookie RBs have to learn the blocking part of the game. I don't like the idea of investing a lot of resources in a RB who hasn't been able to stay of the field consistently.
  20. They also ignored the running game, which was a much larger part of NFL offenses back then. When they got to the playoffs, teams with good Ds would shut down Marino and they had no answer. The way to build a perennial playoff team/Super Bowl contender, especially today, is to support your very good/excellent QB with enough playmakers on both sides of the ball so that he isn't asked to carry the entire offensive load as well as make up for serious defensive deficiencies. IOW, a team has to have a good/great offense but at least an above average defense. It's not easy to do, especially over several years. I think to do that, a team has to draft well and then make strategic trades or signings, which takes a really good FO with excellent scouting and player evaluation departments. IMO, it's the scouting/player e v a l aspect that has come to separate the best teams from the mediocre ones.
  21. You're advocating that the Bills force their franchise QB to function at HOF-worthy level with JAG weaponry in order to build a mythical "championship caliber" defense so the Bills can emulate a Pats dynasty that hasn't proven to be replicable ... and you're surprised at the negative reactions? Exactly. Just because a QB is a potential HOFer doesn't mean he doesn't need protection and targets. Exhibit A is the Seahawks. Russ doesn't cook too well when he only has no offensive line and only Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf to throw to.
