Will He Reinvent Himself: Coach Sean McDermott
thenorthremembers replied to waterglass's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just depends on who your whipping boy is. The defense may have been to blame in 2020, and 2021 yes. But, 2019 was on the Hall of Fame QB, in 2022 the offense scored 10 points, and last year they missed a field goal. Its not an annual defensive debacle, thats revisionist history. The Super Bowl is hard to win. Especially when your hall of fame QB is playing in the time and conference of a better hall of fame QB. I will never justify 13 seconds, but to constantly bang the McDermott sucks drum is asinine. There is more to the teams failures than just McDermott. Just like there is more to this teams triumphs than just Josh Allen. -

I guess my real question is what does he need a pass for? Having a top ten defense five of eight years? Or having a .659 winning percentage as a head coach? I am not going back over the entire injury history, but if you cant admit the Bills defense has been bit by the injury bug the last two seasons, I dont know what to tell you. The truth is posters like you have a personal issue with McDermott despite him being a very good coach. -

If the offense was missing Dion Dawkins, Spencer Brown, James Cook and Amari Cooper would they not get a pass? -

I am not worried about them figuring it out on defense. I am worried about them scoring more points than the other team. I've seen enough of the defense this year to know its not about scheme, which is what everyone is crying about here. They dont have the horses on defense. Crying about the defense when they are down to a cornerback who shouldnt be active on game day, there 3rd and 5th safety, and 1 linebacker who should be starting in the NFL is stupidity. Dont even get me started on their pass rushers. People here think Greg Rousseau is a great NFL player. Its not the scheme. -
Spencer Brown deserves his own thread.

They did a great job being patient with him while that back injury healed. He was down right bad at times during that stretch and I recall Beane mentioning the back injury a lot when it came to Brown. Glad they did. He has brought a lot of nastiness to a team that needed it badly. -

Bills have the 7th ranked defense in the NFL with dog crap talent at almost every position and McDermott needs to change his scheme. Brilliant. -

The defense and Chris Jones are the real backbone of the Chiefs championship huh? Kinda odd to say that considering Jones, Reid, and Kelce were all with the Chiefs before Mahomes got there and had won zero championships. -
The Bills are not going all out
thenorthremembers replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
So they aren't going all out and want to make sure they rest guys like Rasul Douglas and Taylor Rapp, yet their quarter billion dollar franchise player is still starting and scrambling? Good strategy. -
And not sustainable. I am happy they are 12-3 but I am also thinking about the playoffs.

The defense just isn't good. It isn't the play calling, they just don't do anything well. They can't rush the passer. The linebacker and safeties stink so they can't stop the run. They have a couple decent corners but that's the extent of it. They need to reload.

How do you know they didn't? Have to find someone who wants him. He isn't a good football player.

Just get to the playoffs. Hard for a team who has very little to play for to get up to play terrible teams.

CJ Stroud's uncontrollable crying.....
thenorthremembers replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
People forget how young these guys are. Stroud is a 23 year old kid. Not going to give a kid a lot of hell for crying. -
It should be Kevin O'Connell.

Really hope this isn't true. One of my favorites of all time. Those As teams were part of my childhood.

Don’t ever sell the team, Woody!
thenorthremembers replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Here's the deal with this article. Woody may indeed be a terrible owner, but this hit piece is the exact reason Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh should never be in a position of leadership in the NFL again. The article is clearly an attempt by their people to pass the buck onto ownership for their own failures. For example: “They keep on doing the same thing over and over: they change the football people. The football people are not the issue,” one former executive said. “It’s, ‘Hey, I have brain cancer.’ And, ‘Well, just cut off your foot.'”- Calling BS on this one. Joe Douglas drafted Zach Wilson not Woody Johnson. Joe Douglas traded for an about to be 40-year-old Quarterback, not Woody Johnson. The Jets had 8 different top 15 picks in the draft from 2019-2024. Somehow instead of turning any of those picks into a serviceable Quarterback Douglas collected edge rushers, cornerbacks, and wide receivers with no one to pass them the ball. It's clearly a football people thing. On the Jerry Jeudy thing. Yes, its stupid but Jerry Jeudy is the hill Douglas wants to die on? Was Jerry Jeudy going to somehow make the Jets a Super Bowl Contender? It's fairly clear the Jets hired two guys in Douglas and Saleh who lack an appetite for personal responsibility. Rather than take a look in the mirror for how the organization was run under their leadership they decided to cover their butts by blaming the guy who paid them millions of dollars to be failures. -
No one needs you to feel bad for them. Feelings are the reason we are in this mess.

Will Miami start taking calls on Hill?
thenorthremembers replied to RoscoeParrish's topic in The Stadium Wall
Miami isnt going to release him. The dead money for the remainder of this year alone 10.5 million. Not to mention the additional 40 million in dead cap for next year. If they move on from him its going to be with picks in hand.
