Aaron Rodgers limping at Jets OTA's
thenorthremembers replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
Why do you say he has put together a very good team? From 2019-2021 he had 10 1st-3rd round draft picks. Only two of those players are still with the team today. His 2022 draft looks good right now, but he had three 1st round picks. 2023 draft looks pretty bad. They've spent a ton of money in free agency and in trades. Not really a great way to build teams. He may have put together a good collection of talent but thats not putting together a very good team. What Joe Douglas seems to have is a lot of friends in the media, because despite being 21-56 since becoming General Manager there is still a narrative that he is a really good GM. -
They were already 11.5 million over the cap for 2025. Add this and you are at 27 million over the cap next year without paying your QB. Bradley Chubb better start thinking about relocation plans for January/February 2025.

Nothing burger. Long way until September. -
Most politicians do. And those that actually practice it are ridiculed.

Let me know when one of these guys continuously upstages their Quarterback, misses the first day of Camp, tweets non-sense constantly, and has his brother asking the world to get him out of Buffalo. People go a hell of a long ways to make the organization look bad over just admitting what was clearly obvious, Diggs was a constant distraction. May want to hurry up and get on the Houston bandwagon, its filling up quick.

Kaiir Elam discussing the last 2 years & his struggles...
thenorthremembers replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall
I absolutely love these reporters who go on and on about poor scheme fits like it's 1975. If you want to be successful in the NFL in 2024 you have to be scheme versatile. Yes, the Bills play zone defense, but they also play man. The issue with Elam isn't that he doesnt fit the Bills scheme, the issue with Elam is he has poor technique. He literally can't play his position without mauling wideouts. He gets himself in position by taking the wideout out of position. Is a cornerback who mauls wideouts really better suited for a strict man defense? How many PI and defensive holding calls would he have if he played in strict man? Elam isn't doing well in Buffalo because our coaches have a standard of play and a level of expectation, if you don't meet it, you don't get on the field. They could have easily put him on the field just because he was a 1st round pick, and he would likely have decent stats. With those decent stats people would say he fits the scheme. But then the team would be sacrificing their standard just to play a 1st round pick. Bottom line is the Bills value good technique and the ability to play in team defense over draft position, it's what smart organizations do. It's not a bad scheme fit, it's a cornerback who has poor awareness. -
Do you think maybe they do, but you only see Beane because you're on a Bills messageboard?

Going to be a wait and see. Looks like a great athlete. Can he play football? Similar Freshman year to Metcalf, but nowhere near Calvin Johnson. A lot of guys can run really fast in a straight line, it doesnt make them football players. -

Dewayne Carter involved lawsuit against NCAA to pay players.

So your understanding of NIL is the university directly pays football players a game check? Because that is what I would call literally paying someone to play football. -

Rest easy Morgan. Hopefully you're at the big golden arches in the sky where transfat can no longer hurt you. -

We are going to have to agree to disagree. But you're all over the place in what constitutes real life experience. You go from experiencing loss and traveling, which is so amazingly common to human beings to overcoming addiction and disabilities which is very select. And again, you're focusing on my point about marriage. Simply put a 30–40-year-old who is still living like a 20-year-old cannot teach younger people about how to handle their careers, their children, their marriages, their homeownership etc. You're going way outside the original point to try and prove yours. -

It is not just my opinion man. There is an accepted norm of what qualifies as an adult in this country. If you show me a 30-40 year old, unmarried, working a part time job, still doing the same things they were doing in their 20's, I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who would call that person an adult. Furthermore, I think it would be harder for you to find someone willing to take life advice from that person. -

Maybe I am over the hill. But your reaction to my post is another reason why society is getting less intelligent. You took one piece of the entire post and sensationalized it. Reread my post. I said, getting married later, having children later, and starting careers later. My point wasn't about marriage. It was about people not becoming more fully formed adults earlier in life, therefore you have multiple generations of people living without real life experience. People in their 40's can no longer help guide 20-year-olds because they are just older versions of the same people. My post also wasn't a reaction to the topic of college football. It was a reaction to someone stating society is becoming less intelligent. I am sorry but your reaction to my post is a prime example of that. Rather than read what I wrote you decided to call me an out of touch boomer, bring up gender inequality and state the "system" of college football was fundamentally unfair. Proving my point that adults in this country are more likely to act out of emotion than any sort of logical thinking. Now to the college football portion of your post. To call the old way of doing things a free labor business model is laughable. First and foremost, these kids, especially the very talented ones were always getting paid huge money to attend these schools. To pretend they weren't is absolutely obtuse. The only thing this new model does is bring it to the light of day. Secondly, for those kids who weren't as talented, those kids you say who were getting zilch, they were paid in free education, free food, free housing, free tutoring, and free healthcare from some of the best Universities in America. Add those things together and I think you will find that each of these kids were being paid handsomely to play college football. How many other jobs can you find at 18 that pay you that kind of money, and ends with you having a college degree? Their issue wasn't not getting paid. Their issue is not getting paid the way they wanted to. They took all the benefits of being a student athlete, and then decided later on they wanted to be paid like a professional athlete. It's called entitlement. Another major issue we have in this country. As an aside, you seem to have a real issue with the idea of marriage. You may want to talk to someone about that. -

Dewayne Carter involved lawsuit against NCAA to pay players.
thenorthremembers replied to Whkfc's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's a result of prolonged adolescence. People are starting to get married, and start their families and careers later in life. As a result those same people have no clue about the reality of everyday life. You have 20, 30, and 40 year olds all living the same existence. Starting to see three decades of people dressing the same, consuming the same entertainment, and dictating the flow of societal norms. Because of that politicians, society leaders, and content creators pander to people who have no clue about real life or grip on common sense. -

thenorthremembers replied to Whkfc's topic in The Stadium Wall
Time to do away with college football. Carter is one of the lucky 1.6% percent of college football players who were drafted to the NFL. For the other 98.6% of college football players who will not go on to play in the NFL, having their tuition and degree paid for should be more than enough. I am fine with the stars of college football being able to use their name and likeness to make money, but to actually pay these guys a paycheck to play football, give me a break. Stop the nonsense. Make a minor league system for football and stop giving away spots in classes for people who actually earn and need the degree long term. -
The guy is a walking distraction, and I am glad he is gone.

Josh thinks he can come off the bench in the NBA
thenorthremembers replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Definitely not at its peak, but not as dead as ever. No one touches the NFL, but the NBA does very well in comparison with both the NHL and MLB. The average viewing for a NBA Finals game is right around the average viewing of a world series game, and nearly three times the viewers of an NHL Finals game. An NHL finals game is closer in viewership to the UFC as it is other big-time sports leagues. While it's not incredibly popular in Buffalo, the NBA is doing just fine. For those of us who actually like the game its a great time to be a fan, the league has a ton of young talent. The playoff series this year have been very competitive and a hell of a lot of fun to watch. -
Correct. Martin Nance was a Bills training camp hero. He played with Big Ben at Miami of Ohio. It was my attempt at a joke.

Pretty sure the drummer for The Police was Martin Nance.
