The playoffs - actually within reach
thenorthremembers replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is 100% right. The Chargers have an easy back end of the schedule and they are very well balanced. If you lose this weekend it wont be over statistically, but its over in reality. -
Los Angeles is an embarrassment
thenorthremembers replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont know how anyone can have watched this team for the last eighteen years and think that Gilmore, Dareus, Woods, or Watkins mean anything. They are just the latest in a long long line of players who played on talented teams without a quarterback. We didnt win with them and we wont win without them unless they find a quarterback. I could care less if they are gone, they simply dont matter. Woods and Watkins are playing with a first overall pick at quarterback Gilmore is playing with Brady and Dareus is on a Jaguars team who has the benefit of playing in a division where they play Tom Savage and Jacboy Brissett four games during the season. Next year will be a much different story for them, unless they find a quarterback. You cant rely on defense, you cant. LA may not deserve a good team, but by the end of year they will have two. The Chargers are about to go on a run. And at that point someone will say "OMG why didnt we keep Anthony Lynn as Head Coach." Coaches dont matter, wideouts dont matter, fat defensive tackles dont matter...GET A QUARTERBACK! -

Its week 11, if you dont know what you do best by now you shouldn't be coaching in the NFL. -
49ers could be our trading partner
thenorthremembers replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You get a better quarterback and everyone around him starts to look better. I have no idea how good the o-line is or isnt because our current quarterback holds the ball for 3 seconds every time he drops back, scrambles, spins runs towards the sideline and dumps it off to a back in the middle of the field. Everything, o-line, d-line, tackling, and even down to the culture of the team changes when you have a good quarterback because you're winning and nothing else matters. Make no mistake about it, the problem with the Bills is quarterbacking. -
49ers could be our trading partner
thenorthremembers replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Before we can think of trading up we need to get out of the twenties for both of our picks. Hard to tell at this point, but if the season ended today I imagine we would have picks 21 and 25, the highest we could get with those two picks is #6 overall and in that scenario you're probably gunning for the third rated QB, I imagine this is Rosen or Mayfield. I understand the trust the process stuff, but this is what happens when you try and win now and later, you cant serve two masters. -
We can debate it all week if we want, into next week and after the season but the loses are 100% on the quarterback. No NFL QB should thrown for 56 yards or average 3.1 yards an attempt and keep his job. Tyrod is not a competent NFL QB, and his TD/INT ratio is a complete lie when it comes to actually watching the guy play. If we have a better qb, the entire team is better. O-Line looks better when their quarterback gets the ball out sooner than 3.1 seconds Running Backs look better when the box isnt stacked with defenders who already know we have no passing game Defense looks better when they arent on the field a minute after they just left it They lost as a team this is true, but in the league everything revolves around your passing game. The faster this team realizes that the faster when can escape this inane purgatory they put themselves in every year.

Whither Preston Brown?
thenorthremembers replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For the people saying he is fading the second half of the season, can you please point to the first half of the season the guy had to justify saying that? He makes absolutely no impact, none. He doesn't do anything well. Time and time again the guy gets to his gap just in time to get blown up by the guard and watch the running back slide by him. He is too slow to cover anyone, and not strong enough to shed blocks. Seems like a great person, but I am looking forward to not having to watch him play next year. He should be making his money when the runner gets to the second level, instead he is trying to shed a blocker and watching Hyde and Poyer deal with his mess. -
2018 Mock drafts and top prospects
thenorthremembers replied to Watkins101's topic in College Football
The linebackers have been below average at best. Preston Brown is ungodly slow and makes very few impact plays. They need a new ILB and OLB for next year to move Zo back to a situational pass rusher only. They may as well not have played with linebackers yesterday. Through the line and directly to the third level. -
Or you end up with Deshaun Watson, Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston, Phillip Rivers, Russ Wilson...should I go on with the list of players who were highly productive in college and won a lot of games and have become good NFL quarterbacks? There is no formula its the luck of the draw, just have to pick the player you think will be the best. For me that would be the guy who shows the most evidence of that.

TBD reasons for not liking Baker Mayfield: Hes a drunk He wear his jersey too short Big 12 Quarterbacks dont play against good defenses Hes Johnny Manziel Only reaaons not to like Baker Mayfield: Hes short He plays in a spread offense Meanwhile Ive read people tell me how great Lamar Jackson is. No crystal ball but Mayfield has been incredible to watch this year. Best Quarterback in college football.

Saw Jalen Hurts as a starting quarterback in the NFL and stopped reading. Cant believe he was paid for this. -

Bennett cut (update: claimed by Pats*)
thenorthremembers replied to The juice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only way he ends up in New England is if virtually no one else puts a waiver claim in on him. He doesnt get to choose where he goes unless he clears waivers. -
Re-Sign Jordan Matthews?
thenorthremembers replied to Dkollidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seems like he and Zay are almost identical type of wideouts. Have loved his attitude and is obviously a pros pro but my guess is they would keep Thompson over him at this point. -

Not at all my intent. Was purely trying to say out of all the games left we should focus on the ones which are winnable. -

You can believe anything you want my friend. I understand wanting to believe they can beat the Pats, that somehow this year is different and the Pats are vulnerable but fact remains Brady is 25-3 against the Bills thats a 89% win pct. If you want to put your belief in an 11% chance be my guest but dont get your feelings hurt when it doesnt happen. Beat the Colts, Chargers and Dolphins. -

They screwed the pooch losing to the Bengals and Jets. I think 9 gets them there this year but beware of a late year surge by the Ravens, I know it sounds crazy but I imagine they will be the toughest competition for the 6th spot. Anyone thinking we will split with the Patriots, please stop. Bottom line is you have to beat the Colts, Chargers and Dolphins twice. Thats the most feasible way to get it done. -
The Brownsiest Brownsing even for the Browns
thenorthremembers replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was clear both teams agreed to the trade. It should have been processed. Almost as dumb as suspending a guy for six games and having it put on hold three different times. If I am the Browns I am appealing -
Came into the season in the conversation as a number one overall pick, he absolutely busted out. But he is probably the only quarterback who has the legitimate excuse about not having talent around him, he needs to stay in school. If we trade multiple picks for Rosen Id be incredibly unhappy.

Rosens 4.5 yards an attempt was a thing of beauty before the finger injury. Cant win games. Rudolph should have been considered the number one QB from the start of the year and now its obvious.

Are the Bills Oppressing Anquan Boldin?

Ive gotten to the point in this thread where I no longer know who is being sarcastic and who isnt -
Exactly, no misdirected hate here but my God people what exactly did we win with Watkins, Dareus, Darby etc? You would think Beane is blowing up the roster of a team who has won multiple championships not one that hasnt sniffed the playoffs in nearly 20 years. Get a QB, bottom line. Do everything you can to get a QB and let losing teams worry about who is playing Defensive Tackle.
