Technically three. Tyrod measured below 73 inches at the combine.

I agree on your point about the comparisons to those quarterbacks, I dont think that makes sense to do for anyone who hasnt played a down in the league yet. I guess I just dont know what else the kid has to do to prove he is worthy of being a 1st round pick. I dont know if he will be good in the NFL any better than I do Rosen, Darnold, Jackson etc but he is the most elite player at his position in coll ege football and he hasnt done it in a gimmicky fashion. What is incredibly irritating is to see players like Josh Allen and Clayton Thorson rated above him because they are 6'5. Literally saw a national columnist from CBS say yesterday he wasnt on the Mayfield train because he wants to wait and see what he does in the CFB Playoffs. Seriously man? The kid has played 47 games to this point and won 83% of them including some really impressive games against great defenses, including games in the CFB Playoffs. Again, I have no problem with someone not hitching their wagon to him as you say, but lets be real if anyone tries to pretend its because of his play on the field they are full of it.

In regards to your statement here statistics need to be measured and compared in a normalized fashion to tell the actual story, mainly because your discounting the fact that an immense number of players who are taller than 6'2 have been massive failures as well. The more true statement is players under 6'2 just dont really get a chance to show their worth in the NFL. For instance since 2010 (not including this year) 85 quarterbacks have been drafted, of those only seven players have been 6'1 or less. Still, within that group of seven, two players have proven to be either a viable NFL starter (Tyrod Taylor) or a NFL superstar (Russell Wilson) thats 28%, or if you want to look at it pessimistically a 72% failure rate. On the flip side 78 players have been drafted who were 6'2 or greater and of those players only 13 became viable starters or superstars, 16% or a 84% failure rate. I would say this stat tells us one of two things, A. Height doesnt matter at all or B. NFL GMs are so blind they dont realize their is no magic height/weight formula for a franchise quarterback and it really should be looked at on a player by player basis. And on the point about Mayfield being 5'9, whoever had those rumblings either has an agenda against Mayfield or hasnt watched one OU game. When he stands next to his RB Rodney Anderson who happens to be 6'2 he isnt dwarfed in the manner someone 5'9 would be.

I absolutely am not kidding. Despite the lack of great quarterback play the Browns have put together a nice roster. There are plenty of coaches who get teams to a .500 record despite a quarterback, take for instance the last five years here in Buffalo. What the Browns are left with now is coach who has won 1 game in the last two years, and who also seems to have major sway with ownership. Maybe I am way off, but if I am a General Manager I want to hire my guy, not someone who has shown he has an agenda. If they hire a new guy he better be on board with Hue Jackson do or die, because his entire first year as a GM will be a wash. With the ownership they have in place, whoever they hire as GM now, if they have to keep Hue will be on the seat in a year looking to hire a new head coach.

Oh yeah, he has that UT tie with the owner. I mean you never know. Hue better hope the next GM is willing to be patient. I honestly thought they would see this through. They have a stellar defense right now with tons of young talent on the offense. But they made a huge mistake not building around a quarterback first and foremost.

Season opener of the 1994 season against the Jets. My Grandfather took my brother, my rabid Jets fan Uncle, and I. We ate PBJ for tailgate, the Bills lost 23-3 and someone spilled a beer on my brother's head. I dont remember a thing about the game, but fondly remember the names being spewed at my Uncle walking back through the parking lot.

I can see a scenario where they both end up top twenty picks, say 14th and 18th. At that point you probably only need to trade the 14th pick in the 1st round, and pick 60 in the 2nd to move up to 8th. If they can find a away to pick in the top ten and still keep two 1st round picks I think thats a huge huge win.

Agree. Id take him in a second if I was a GM. But fact is height scares these guys off. Cant wait to see wherr he goes.

Josh Gordon: Worth the Risk?
thenorthremembers replied to thenorthremembers's topic in Fantasy Football
I finished 1st in my low money ten team league, which has a bye and 2nd in my 12 team big money league no bye. Hate not having a bye in that league, doesnt really pay to finish 1st or 2nd. -
His size is a big concern but I dont think Ive enjoyed watching a college player more. The throws down the seam where only his wideout can get it are beautiful to watch.

He was a good start last week. Have the same dilemma this week, 2nd place overall and no bye in our league. I think Ill let it roll. -
Doug Marrone: Media Darling?
thenorthremembers replied to BringBackOrton's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If it was 1999 I'd agree, but unless they draft a quarterback it's not going to happen. They scored a bunch of touchdowns on defense this year, and that my friend is an anomaly. If they get Eli next year maybe they continue the run, but I would be willing to bet they are far worse next year. -

Hope he also enjoys the S Sandwhich he gets next year when Luck and Watson are both back. -
Shaq Lawson and Jordan Matthews to IR
thenorthremembers replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He has good hands and has certainly contributed to his teams in the past. I just think he is a low level number two more suited for the slot. We have a younger version of Jordan Matthews named Zay Jones. He is a great team first player, but I dont see his worth to the Bills specifically. I think he ends up on a one year contract somewhere. Dallas, KC, Seattle or Indi would be good fits. -
2018 Mock drafts and top prospects
thenorthremembers replied to Watkins101's topic in College Football
He may not have a lot of on field action, but man can the kid play special teams. What really stands out to me with him aside from his speed is how good of a blocker he is. -

I dont see him going back to Philly, they were trying to replace him even before the trade. Not sure what a guy who hasnt played a full season in two years and ended this year with 25 catches for 282 yards and one TD gets on the open market, but my guess is he may find it hard to crack a starting roster next year. -
Bowl skipping for draft prospects has begun
thenorthremembers replied to YoloinOhio's topic in College Football
I have no problem with this at all. Until the coaches stop interviewing for new jobs or leaving their old job just before a bowl game I will continue to have no problem with this. -
Not sure I like the Mariota comparison either. Mariota was a better passer coming out, won more of his games and used his feet less. I think the best comparison I can think of for Jackson right now is probably Colin Kaepernick. I think he is more dynamic than Kaep, but I dont think he is the player Mariota was coming out of Oregon.
-
Was cold on Jackson at the start of the year but as the year went on I think he improved as a passer. Wouldnt trade up for him, but if he falls to the middle of the 1st round and Darnold, Rosen, Rudolph and Mayfield are all gone I'd be ok with it. I still worry he is too much like our current quarterback but his height is an immediate advantage in comparison with Tyrod.

[Please Change Title]Brandon Tate

I honestly applaud it. Its risk reward. They give up the five yards they know wont help them anyways for the slim chance he A. Gets more than five or B. Scores. Your analytics point is relegated to the kickoff only. The team cant score so in this sense they figure they get one additional shot at a touchdown even if its a long shot its better than 0 percent. You have any sort of quarterback you play field position. When you cant move the ball to save your life, you take the risk.
