Sammy Watkins and the Rams

If you showed up to work 81% of the time would you keep your job? -
Chiefs probably understand cornerbacks dont win games for them. And this guy, even though he can cover, cant tackle worth a darn and is a complete and utter head case. They traded away a guy who they may have only had for another year for one or more players they will have for four. They picked up a couple cornerbacks, he was expendable.

Sammy Watkins and the Rams

I 100% agree with what you're saying. Watkins still is incredibly young and I think he is very talented. But my point here, without using statistics is that generally you're paying a 24 or 25 year old wideout a rookie contract while their talent is coming to fruition on the field and they mature as a worker and person off the field. Again Watkins is talented, but I wouldnt be willing to pay him a free agent contract in the hope he becomes the wideout his talent suggests he may be. This franchise has already spent way too much on him waiting for him to develop, I dont want to add tens of millions of dollars to our first mistake. -

You fail to mention Eric had started 28 games by the time he was 25 compared to the 52 for Sammy. Eric wasnt on the field for most of his first two seasons. Secondly I never said Sammy wasn't a talented player. That route he put on Revis during his secons year here is still one of my favorites ever. But talent without production doesnt mean jack. -
Sammy Watkins and the Rams

The guy is about to be on his third team in five years. Has played a full season once Has never hit double digit touchdowns Has went over a thousand yards once and we are still wondering if he is a legit number one why? He was a horrible mistake that set the franchise back. No clue why anyone would be waiting in line to bring him back here. -
Wentz has seemed to turn out great, but I think we should let this play out a bit before we make him the standard. Granted he had a great year, but it ended just like his last year of college did, with injury. Three years from now we may be talking about him as someone who couldnt stay on the field. His tape was a lot of fun to watch but there were major questions on the guy, specifically he had one full year of starting and while he was a winner he wasnt overly productive against FCS level competition. I agree there probably isn't a player who has all the tools Wentz has, but it's way too early to say none of the quarterbacks in this class wont be as productive as Wentz at the next level.

Disagree O'Leary has been a disappointment. He was a sixth round pick so the expectations shouldnt have been high to begin with, but I think he was more than adequate as a 2nd tight end last year.
-
He's going to have to make the switch to H-Back or Running Back, if he gets drafted. I think he ends up going a lot later than most people predict. He was productive in college but really doesnt have a natural position in the the NFL. Think about a player like Dorin Dickinson who ran a 4.4 flat but really didnt fit into an NFL offense because he wasn't a polished receiver or especially good at blocking.

Starting to think there is a chance Baker Mayfield ends up the 1st overall pick. Hit me over the weekend when the Browns announced they were hiring Scot McCloughan as a consultant for the draft. Immediately began to think back to comments he made about Mayfield being the quarterback he likes the most out of this draft class. ProFootballTalk had a this on their site this AM. Scot McCloughan on Baker Mayfield Could be 100% a smokescreen. Any chance you think the Browns take Mayfield #1 or #4?

Not sure why they insist on having almost the same format year in and year out. Not worth the time it uses up Also lost all respect for the guy when it appeared he was making fun of homeless people at his wedding

My favorite prospects I've watched and wanted the Bills to draft: Leonard Floyd: Georgia played him all over the field and at the time I thought Rex would love to have him Robert Nkemdiche: His film was amazingly fun to watch. A complete man amongst boys in College. Appears the whole "doesnt love football and is a weirdo" thing turned out to be accurate. Hau'oli Kikaha: Just ran all over the field with reckless abandon. Felt like another guy Rex could have used. Jake Matthews: Bills needed o-line help that year and his initial kick was a thing of beauty Deshaun Watson: Jury is still out and I honestly wanted to dislike him as a prospect but much like Mason Rudolph this year he had the intangibles all the very good quarterbacks had before him. Also was blown away by how good his back shoulder throw was for a prospect. Bryce Petty: Should have known better given the Baylor offense but he just seemed to have it all coming out. Austin Sefarian-Jenkins: Watching his film I was sure he was the next Gronk. Cordarrelle Patterson: What can I say. I got sucked in. Players I Hated and Didn't Watch the Bills to Touch: Odell Beckham: I will never forget Joe B. saying before that draft that if the Bills couldn't get Sammy they would draft OBJ. I said out loud in my kitchen "No God, not him" I thought he was a one route player who couldnt block. Christian Hackenberg: Much like Josh Allen this year, I didnt get the hype. Kid looked like a tire fire on film. Deshone Kizer: I am a Notre Dame guy and Deshone reminded me of EJ Manuel with turnover issues. Teddy Bridgewater: I still dont think Teddy is a good quarterback. I think Minnesota hid him most of the time. Mike Glennon: That neck. Looked like a statue on tape and that neck.

The one thing I am afraid of in the draft...
thenorthremembers replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If this regime has any sense at all they will find a quarterback. Cleveland is an amazing example of drafting a lot of stud players at other positions and getting absolutely nowhere with them. Unless the stud Defensive Tackle can also throw the ball, then I would say your assumption is completely off point. If it is on point, and this staff doesnt find a quarterback they will be looking for a job in three years and we will be talking about which team that stud defensive tackle will go to next. -
Arians: Best QB Class In 15-20 Years
thenorthremembers replied to Jamie Muellers Ghost's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't disagree he plays very well outside the pocket. My argument is against those who say a majority of his throws come from outside the pocket, which isnt true. I misunderstood what you were saying, my apologies. -
Arians: Best QB Class In 15-20 Years

Reading some of these posts I feel like I need to clarify a few things about Mayfield. A) He does not do "his best work" outside of the pocket. Thats a complete and total myth, and it's a lazy assumption. He threw from the pocket more than he threw from outside of the pocket. He was just as accurate throwing from the pocket as he was throwing outside of it. B) The Manziel comparison is also lazy. They are similar in stature, and even then Mayfield is a bigger player. Manziel is a much better athlete, and nowhere near the passer that Mayfield is. -
OT--- How the hell is Roger Craig not in the HOF?
thenorthremembers replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Roger Craig 100% deserves to be in over Davis. Still, neither of them deserve to be in more than Terrell Owens. Its an absolute joke he wasnt a first ballot guy. -
You would have to see how free agency and the top portion of the draft plays out. But if a scenario plays out like this Jets- Sign Cousins Browns- Take Rosen #1 Giants- Pass on a QB and take Barkley #2 Broncos- Take Darnold and Mayfield starts to slide, I serious hope the Bills start working on getting ahead of Arizona. No reason they can't get up to #13 or #14 by trading the 21st and 53rd pick. The chart may be dependent on the situation, but it seems like a great deal of the trades that happen follow the formula closely.

Let the Broncos or Jets Have Cousins...
thenorthremembers replied to Domdab99's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. The best thing that can happen now the Skins have a QB is for one of those teams to get Cousins. The Jets will be the most likely landing place as they have the most money. Dream scenario is the Jets signing Cousins, Giants drafting Barkley, Darnold to the Broncos and Mayfield falling to the Bills at 21.
