Sal Carpaccio: Corey Coleman Is In Trouble
thenorthremembers replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hoping they keep him as his skill set is different than anyone else we have. Wont be upset either way, but if I had to choose between him or Ray Ray, I'd keep Coleman. -
"Big Name" cuts around the league...
thenorthremembers replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You think the Bills should take a shot? -
So who is your surprise cut(s)
thenorthremembers replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be very surprised if they cut Coleman. I think he and Zay played a lot last night because they haven't had enough reps to get ready to play during the season. I also think if it comes down to either him or McCloud for the final wideout spot you keep the 4.3, 1st round talent guy, over the 4.53 6th round talent guy. My surprise cuts would be McCarron and Bodine. -

I would have paid him in a second. He is currently slotted as the 19th highest paid Quarterback in the league. The benefit of signing a player like that stretches far beyond play on the field. He has been through the same situation as Allen is going through now, and could teach a him a lot. Peterman brings none of that. Its the NFL, Quarterbacks get paid a lot of money. Even the mid range starters -

He is a 5 '9 180 pound guy who runs a 4.53 40. He looks like he should be fast but isnt. -
Sam Darnold Officially Named NYJ Starting QB
thenorthremembers replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One of the worst coaches in the league. One of the reasons I don't worry much about Darnold is Bowles. Similar to Hue Jackson playing Baker tonight and sitting Drew.Stanton. -

He gets 2 million this year and 2.1 next year if he ends up a post 6\1 roster cut. Not bad for 5 months of work eh? -

Maybe that's why McCarron didn't bother running down the fella on the pick six. Gotta protect the texting thumb. Gonna need it asking old coaches for a new job Saturday -

They had a press conference to announce his signing. He wore a suit. If I can find a.picture of him and McBeane holding a #10 Bills jersey, we could complete in wrapping it up as the biggest joke FA signing in Bills history. -

Not sure who ends up looking like the bigger idiot after this. McCarron for giving up a job where he literally had to do nothing but watch football from the sidelines every Sunday to being unemployed. Or the Bills for eating 4.1 million dollars in salary cap space for him to be unemployed. McCarron, Newhouse, and Bodine all look like giant misses. -

They have to do something at swing tackle. If it's not Deondre Wesley it's someone from another team because Newhouse.and McDermot are horrendous. -

Would love to see the 1st and 2nd round wideouts we have on the field get any sort of separation from the scout team cornerbacks. -

Good hustle there A.J. -
I honestly could care less who our Quarterbacks coach is. You hear every year how a team brought in a storied Quarterbacks coach to work on so and so's footwork and its made a world of difference, and then so and so goes back out and does what he did the year before. Why, because so and so wasn't good and a coach wasnt going to change that enough to turn him into Tom Brady all of the sudden. Five teams have rookie quarterbacks picked in the 1st round of this years draft. If you look at who those teams employ as their quarterback's coach, you'll see coaches with anywhere from 1 year experience as a QB's coach (Arizona) to guys who have 12 years experience as a QB's coach (Cleveland). Outside of Culley, those other guys have coached 24 players who have started games in the league. 7 of those 24 have been successful, around 30%. Which is the exact success rate you'd expect when drafting a Quarterback from college. Long story short, these players come into the league with the talent to be good or to fail, 70% of the time they fail regardless of coaching.

Absolutely not! When you look at what the trade market has been on pass rushers over the past 3 years this is a gross over pay. If any GM is considering this they need to be fired ASAP. I think the Mack thing has gotten to the point where the want for the trade to happen has outweighed common sense. Over the last three seasons two edge rushers close in age, statistical output and talent have been traded and they didnt fetch anything close to 1 1st round pick let alone two: If you look below Chandler Jones was younger, and as productive or more when traded by NE to Arizona. Player Age Gms Tack Sack FF PD INT Tack/GM Sack/GM FF/GM PD/GM INT/GM Mack 27 64 231 40.5 9 11 1 3.609375 0.632813 0.140625 0.17 0.015 Jones 25 52 134 36 0 9 1 2.576923 0.692308 0 0.17 0.019 Quinn 28 95 175 62.5 21 16 0 1.842105 0.657895 0.221053 0.16 0 If you look at what Arizona and Miami gave up to procure Jones and Quinn respectively, the value was nowhere near one 1st round pick. Player Value Points Received by Previous Team Value Points Spent by Current Team Adjusted Player Value by Round Jones Arizona Sent NE 292 Value Points (2nd Round 61) NE Sent 0 picks in return to Arizona Chandler Jones' adjusted value is then 292 (2nd Round 61) Quinn Miami Sent LAR 38 (4th 135) & 20.6 (6th 176) a total of 58.6 value points. LAR sent Miami 7.4 (6th 209) value points in addition to Quinn Robert Quinn's adjusted value is then 51.2 (4th 121) Bottom line is Oakland knows it will eventually resign Mack. But, if in the mean time they can fleece a team for the player based on his name recognition they would be glad to do so.

Ill check it out for sure. But, when I look at their roster I dont see that. I see issues at edge rusher, wideout, tight end and to an extent inside linebacker. Their offensive line is better than ours, not a hard task. They have an above average secondary, some nice players at runningback. Quarterback, remains to be seen. I dont disagree that they have a bad roster in comparison with the good teams in the league, I just think they have a very similar long view as the Bills.
-
I dont disagree in theory. But the immediate scenario for both teams is almost identical. They both spent this and last offseason clearing cap space and eating dead money to try and lay a foundation moving forward. In my opinion the Bills probably did a little better job of that, but not by much. The Jets also cleared a lot of space over the next three years. Something like a 850k dollar difference in favor of the Bills The Bridgewater move aside, and it shouldnt be discounted because it was honestly a great one, the Jets spent this offseason out maneuvering the Bills in draft position, and they did it while having a less torn down roster. I love the Bills, but the Jets are doing a terrific job right now. Ultimately, none of this will matter long term if Allen is better than Darnold. That is my fervent hope.

McDermott and young qbs
thenorthremembers replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it really depends on the situation. Doug Pederson is also from the Andy Reid coaching tree and Wentz started Week 1 of his rookie year. I wouldn't say the issue with Beane and McDermott is right now, they don't have a lot to choose from. The mistake they made dates back to March when they had a chance to sign seasoned quarterbacks who had multiple starts in the league, some with real success, and opted instead to sign a guy who had three starts in the league and immediately put him in a competition with two guys who had one start combined. The Bills should have had a plan on who their projected starter was in March, and then allowed Allen to change their mind if he was lights out in the lead up to the season opener. Their contingency plan was bad. Arizona was in a similar situation and handled it much better. -
An 18-game season with 16-game player limits?
thenorthremembers replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They need to think of more innovative ways to increase their bottom line while still getting away from the four game pre-season. I don't need an 18 game season, especially one where starters dont play two of them. These guys run a business where they can basically do no wrong, figure out how to make the gate from those two preseason games in a different way. Most fans would pay the cost of admission to meet the players and get autographs. If they are really that hard up, get a farm system setup with a season starting in the Spring working into the early summer, and let those teams play two games prior to the NFL season starting. They could be played at the NFL Stadium and be included in the season ticket package. At that point, if the players on that team are any good they could be called up for the final two pre-season games for the professional team. Gives continuity and creates some storylines.
