If we are wild card, I would much rather play Texans or Titans over Chiefs

In amateur sports, there are moral victories. If you are a division III basketball team playing Duke and the game is close, that is a moral victory In Professional sports, there are no moral victories - you are paid to compete and theoretically should be the equal of any of your opponents Moral victories are for losers!

Monday Night Football 39 years ago - who remembers?

If I remember correctly, the result of that game put the bills into the playoffs or at least made it very likely John Lennon RIP -
A rule tweek? (Regarding challenges)
ticketssince61 replied to PatsFanNH's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
agreed. If you are right you get it back. Also, on the obvious long PI call that was not called, McDermott should have challenged He probably assumed it was a waste of a challenge since those are never overturned. -
After this year, it may be that all former Bills head coaches are gone (Mularkey [previously], Lynn, and Marrone)

Singletary continues to impress!

I like his game a lot, but he is lacking speed. He finds the hole but is missing the burst to turn 8 or 10 yard runs into 20 or 30 yard runs -
Josh Allen - week FOURTEEN report card

Terrible pass protection; too many drops; too much wind; combined with bad decisions -
We needed - a receiver that is over 5"9 - an OL that can give our QB a time to make a throw - receivers that don't drop balls - a day when the wind is not gusting to 30 mph and wreaking havoc on all deep balls

very cool that the old guys are mentoring our younger players (also Kelly and JA) Bruce was such a beast - I remember that he used to wear out a few step-masters each winter staying in shape When bruce was drafted in 85, it was before all of the draft hype, and the only players you knew were those who were superstars in college I remember asking "Bruce who? from where?"

I am worried that the same way the the Eagles and Browns were maligned, desperate, and had their backs against the wall and came out with great intensity, the same thing will happen here. Best case would have been for Cowboys to beat the Patriots and then come in over confident My prediction: Cowboys 31 - Bills 16. (hope I am wrong) Happy T-giving to all!

Remember that if it is more than a 2 way tie - head to head gets thrown out - so there is no such thing as an unbeatable tie breaker

you have the broncos with 3 safeties? -
starting QB averaged 68 yards passing a game on 44% completion percentage Mark Brammer was on the Bills from 1980 and 1984 and averaged 22 catches a year for 9.8 yards a catch

on purely football basis, #1 Jim Brown #1 #2 OJ (hands down) He was the most electrifying runner ever - changed the way the position was played In 1975, when RB's were not utilized as receivers he had 40 catches for 600 yards He was the first RB to have incredible speed and size and was a threat to score a TD every time he touched the ball And look at the teams he played on - there was no passing game. In 1973, when he ran for 2,003 yards and averaged 6.0 yards /carry our starting QB's (Joe Ferguson) stat's were 73 completion in 164 Attempts (44.5%) for 939 yards, 4 TD, 10 INT's.

I did not think that his style of play and coming from Louisville would translate well to NFL, but (Probably been mentioned in some of the other replies) a) he has very good talent (and coaching) around him b) my big concern is if he can continue to take the pounding (although he does seem to be able to avoid taking the big hits) . Look at how Cam Newton's body seems to have fallen apart and he is much bigger and stronger than Jackson

Another reason that passing yardage is way up over the "old" days!

Wins and Point Diff Around the League
ticketssince61 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Two things that need to be kept in mind when reviewing these "statistics" 1. Quality of opposition - scoring 21 points against NE is much better than 21 against the Bengals 2. The points per game can get skewed over 1 or 2 blow out wins (or losses). e.g. The Ravens' 59 points against the Dolphins can make up for a few below average scoring games The more important measure is consistency (i.e. Standard Deviation) in the points (scored or allowed). As an extreme case, a team that alternately scores either 0 or 50 may have a vastly different record than a a team that scores 25 every game Also, important to take into account TD's on turnovers and by special teams (which we are sorely lacking) To show points #1 and #2, The Cowboys should have a really good record, but their points were mostly piled up in a few blow out wins against very inferior opponents Giants 35 and 37 Redskins 31 Dolphins 31 -
The Extra Point - Week 10: This One Hurts
ticketssince61 replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Now I readily admit that I don’t know one tenth as much about play-calling as professional football coaches do" Actually you (and the rest of us on TBD) probably do. Coaches (i.e. Daboll) try to be too cute or too smart and just end up being stupid 99% of us realize we should have run the ball more - somehow the coaching staff missed that point -
Bills at Browns Post Game Post Mortem

Aside from the fact that one of the Browns rushers is running untouched towards him on the other side? If he throws to Beasley it is likely batted down - he had a split second to unload the ball to avoid the sack -

A few thoughts watching from a great distance to counter some of the hyper over-reactions after every win (we are super bowl bound) and loss (fire everyone, trade everyone and do a complete rebuild) 1. Daboll does not put JA in a position to succeed. Most coaches fail because they are too stupid or try to be too smart - Daboll is the latter. He does not do enough play action, roll-outs to create more oportunities for JA and definitely either a) abandons the running the game or b) features Gore over Devin 2. Defense needs to find a way to stop the run and create some turnovers - the past few weeks, we come up with almost no turnovers to help the offense 3. What really hurts our offense is lack of big-play capability. What is our longest TD this year? JA can not hit the long ball or the receivers can not find it; Gore has no explosiveness; Singletary is a very good runner but not a game- breaker. If you watch KC - they have a lot of TD's on short passes where the receiver breaks a tackle and outruns everyone to the end zone. We need more speed on offense. 4. JA is not a bust and being benched for Barkley (a career journeyman) and is not currently a franchise QB. He is a QB from a small-time program that has a big learning curve. He does some things well and some things poorly. The jury is still out - not the time yet to over-reach and anoint him either of the two. Give him one more year with some decent weapons - then we can make an intelligent assessment 5. McD is a good coach - not a great coach - relax, he is not being fired - he has brought order and stability and a decent record to this franchise. Give him some more time and then we will see. 6 GM is not getting fired - in general has done a decent job of managing the cap and drafting (past year's draft is still a TBD) - and creating order in the front office. My biggest criticism is his propensity to trade up All this being said, this was a terrible loss in a must win game and blame falls on offense, defense, coaches, coordinators and special teams
