Ohhh yeah, I agree and I think guys are underselling edge setting. At the same time though you want a first-round pick to have that burst and not just be an edge setter. It reminds me of when the Ravens drafted Courtney Upshaw. He was fantastic in setting the edge in their defense but its' also why they let him test FA eventually because they were looking for a complete package at the position.

You can't take the Jags game as a measuring stick and then project into the future of where the Bills defense actually is. The game plan vs the Jags is not how you want to play defense but we had too or we actually would have gotten ran all over. It worked because Bortles was off the money most of the day and it was the gamble we took. But against a halfway accurate passer, there is no way we could have played defense that way. Playing defense that way opens up a lot of other things and Bortles exposed the problems with that by just running. That's one of the weaknesses, but a halfway accurate passer would have carved the defense up on the Play Action passes. So when thinking about next year's opponents you cannot take that game and say the defense is good enough. There's no way we are playing Brady like that twice, Rogers, Mariota, Rivers, Stafford, Watson and going to replicate that success. The Jags game was about game plan vs that specific opponent only.

Read Option. This was probably their adjustment from last week. Marrone unfortunately, has thought ahead of his opponent and made a nice move on the chess board.

Here's what I'm looking at as far as the grand landscape of NFL teams addressing the QB situation, either through the draft or FA. 1) Browns 2) Jets 3) Cards 4) Bills 5) Steelers - Ben successor 6) Patriots - Brady successor 7) Saints - Brees successor 8) Jags 9) Chargers - Rivers successor 10) Broncos 11) Redskins So I think you have 11 teams that are going to do something about their QB situation whether to look for a franchise guy or a guy to groom as a successor to their franchise guy in the draft or in free agency. We have our work cut out for us and I hope to the heavens that we can hit on a franchise guy in this draft because I'd hate to keep taking shots. But that might be a part of the process

I'm pretty sure they like his frame. Probably also like Allen's frame. They both have Cam Newtonesque frames. Allen has Newtonesque zip on his passes. Rudolph hasn't shown that type of zip. Not sure The one thing I will say after watching a couple of those is that on fly routes the WR does not have to be open for Rudolph to throw it when it is 1 v 1. I like that. He takes the 1 v 1 because he trusts Washington to win it. He doesn't hesitate and is not timid in pulling the trigger on that (TT was timid all season on these). But there are some things I'm seeing that, ehhh, needs some refinement. He's not always consistent in his mechanics, which probably makes some of his throws look kinda weak. He doesn't always step into his throws. In any case I want to watch more.

Here's my thing. How are you grading a QB? Here's quite a few Rudolph games, what criteria is being used to grade him? Snaps vs TCU : vs Colorado 2016 vs Texas Tech vs OU vs Va Tech vs Iowa State vs Tulsa vs Baylor vs West Virginia

When they called the Titans for pass interference on Gronk who had clearly pushed off but previously called offensive pass interference against Decker who had actually beat Bulter because he fell for an inside move I turned the TV off. I knew what was up.

Gotcha. I think another team you have to look out for is the one that MIGHT win the SB. They are not trading up to the top 5 but they are definitely in the mode of looking for a guy they can groom behind Brady. I read one article that suggests they really like Falk. I'm going to start watching some Rudolph.

Where is the source for this? I mean your opinion has to be based on some hunch. What hunch gives you this impression?

To me it's going to be tough sledding unless you can get to 1 or 2 but then you've given up too many assets for a roster that has a lot of holes. I mean here's how I look at it. Let's say Rudolph is there at 21. My question is, Do I really consider him a franchise QB (whatever I might mean by this)? If my answer is no, why would I take him just to be taking him? I'd take someone else here, a DT, DE, OG, or OT. Same thing at 22. IF I don't consider that guy a Franchise QB then I'm passing. When I get to the 2nd round, I MIGHT take a flier on somebody at the QB position IF taking one here does not prevent me from filling another hole with another starting quality player. I hate that it is this way with QB's but I really think you have to ask yourself, do I consider X guy a franchise QB (whatever I mean by that)? If the answer is no or if I am not sure then why take a guy there when you'll be just as unsure in the 2nd, 3rd rounds? Just take one in then 2nd and 3rd rounds. Then you may have to keep taking a crack at it until you hit. Kinda sucks but that's just how I look at it outside of picks 1 or 2.

The biggest difference is those guys also could get to the passer. Shaq had 4 sacks this year but one was because he didn't get picked up. The other was because the QB was trying to escape and lawson tripped him up. I like Shaq, but he hasn't shown much burst and explosiveness as a pass rusher. I think Coach McD prefers guys that are more of a complete package than one dimensional because Ideally, you need the pocket collapsing on both sides and at least one player collapsing the middle. Compare Hughes, Davis, and Yarborough's first step to Shaq's as a pass rusher and you'll see a huge distinction between the players in that department.

As long as he comes in "in shape" and healthy I'd rather kick the tires on Lynch as well. After thinking about it more here's my FA wishlist. DT - Star Lotulelei DE - Aaron Lynch CB - Kyle Fuller - prefer his measurables over Gaines OL - Justin Pugh I know we ain't signing 4 Free Agents but I figure Lynch should be cheap.

No to Shula PLEASE!!! Panthers fans were ready to get rid of him with the swiftness. No to Shula. Run toss plays with Stewart to the short side of the field but then turn around and run McCaffrey up the gut??? Ummmmm WHAT???

Take Castillo with you PLEASE!!!!! I will not be satisfied until Castillo is also gone.

I don't want to discriminate because of players like Brees and Flutie in the past and Wilson, but man, it's difficult for me to see us taking someone shorter than TT. He's probably my height then. I'm right there between 5'11 and 6'0. -

Hoping the Broncos sign a vet then trade with the Giants to take Barkley at 2 would actually be good for us because the Colts probably covet Barkley. If the Broncos make that trade then the Colts would probably be more willing to trade the pick. However, if the Giants covet Rosen they're not trading. In any case I love this time of year as we guess all of the scenarios that probably will never happen. -

To me Denver could go either way. They could go the vet route. They could also take a rookie. It's really all they need to get back into the postseason. Defense is solidified. Offense has weapons and the OL is intact. All they need is a franchise QB and maybe a great HB talent. Broncos actually could try to move up to the Giants spot and take Barkley if they sign a FA Vet QB. -

How many teams actually trade a "significant player" to a division rival? -

You actually think Andy Reid is going to help a division rival get better? You can't believe that.
