What's the price to move up and get our guy?
NewEraBills replied to ProcessTheTrust's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would need to see what our FA looks like and if we can recoup some other picks through trading players. So the answer is a MAYBE LOL. I care about the team overall. As much as we need a QB, I think it would be a disservice to put anyone who cannot use their legs behind Ducasse and Mills, even a bridge QB. So I would like upgrades on the right side of the line. I did not like the run defense this year after the Dareus trade. No real NT so we got gashed. We game planned well by having our backers sell out for the run but against a somewhat accurate QB you're going to get torched with that game plan. So I need to see how other stuff plays out before going all in. If other stuff plays out somewhat sufficiently, throw everything at #2. But I just can't fathom it in my mind to overpay if things are in shambles in a lot of other spots. -

I've already given my answer. Outside of the top two I'm not willing to do it. -
I'll disagree on them playing well. I've seen them play a lot better. Anytime you are getting stopped and having to go for it on 4th down, throwing up prayers, to me that's not playing well. But we'll disagree on that. But where we do agree, the Bills offense is putrid. I don't think it's because we only put up 3 points against the Jags. I take each game as its own individual thing but then all games as a collective. The Bills offense was just putrid all season, not just against the Jags. The Steelers offense most of the season was awesome. The Jags defense displays vulnerability at times but just because they had breakdowns against the Steelers does not mean they would have had them vs the Bills, neither does it mean they will continue to have them all it means is they had some breakdowns yesterday. They will get cheated this coming Sunday so they'll be at home with the rest of us.

Mularkey now out in Tennessee as HC
NewEraBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Shurmur could definitely be in play. His son plays QB for Vanderbilt. Great luring tool for the Titans and Shurmur can be around his son and watch him play. -
To me, the Steelers offense did not play a great game. The majority of their points and yards came on 4th downs out of desperation to keep the game close. These are situations that most coaches are not going to gamble on in the regular season. They had to do it in the playoffs however. Also, outside of one of the 4th down conversions to Brown, the Jags had some confusion going on in their coverage on those 4th downs. The one to Bryant was egregious. Barry Church just stood there like a brick staring at I have no idea what. But he left his other players out to dry allowing Bryant to get over the top for the TD. It was terrible awareness by Church. The other TD to Brown was on a regular down and distance play to where Brown just made a play. Honestly, I thought it was offensive pass interference but it's whatever. To me the first half and most of the game the Steelers offense was sluggish and played the desperate game because they had to but that doesn't mean their offense "had their way" nor "played well."

I didn't say Pitt I said Baltimore and Cincy. But they do have talent on their team. Their DL and OL are actually filled with talent Garrett, Ogbah, Shelton are all 1st round picks and when all of them are on the field the front is actually good. Ogbah got hurt this year. Zeitler, Bitonio, Thomas (older) is a pretty talented OL They have weapons at TE. They could use another WR. But here's how I see the Browns. If you look at their games this year, they were IN many of those games with BAD QB play. You lost 4 games by 3 points; you lost 1 game by 6 points, another by 9. You don't hang around in those games if you don't have talent. In those same games, your QB is what cost you. I'm not saying they can't use another blue chip player at CB because they can but with some competent QB play they actually could have won at least 6 games. So I don't see them as lacking talent at all and with the Ravens consistently stuck in the middle and the Bengals being underachievers, they actually could surpass those two. -

OK now just thinking about some of the rumors of trades (Glenn, Shaq, Washington) and the draft capital we have. If we can swing some trades for the players rumored to be on the out and recoup some capital because we are certainly going to need it, I'd say try to get to 2. -

Nahh, they'll most likely take OL and LB. Picking a QB there is not much different than taking one in the 2nd and 3rd. Blue chip OL and LB can be found there. But the trade with us could definitely happen. If we can trade Shaq for a 2nd and Glenn for a 2nd/3rd (this is of course based on rumors) and recoup some picks then I'd be all in trading to the #2 spot. We'll need to recoup some picks for moving up so high because our team will still need to fill in some spots. -
I do to. I think they'll get him through the rehab process to make sure he's healthy then sell him for the best draft pick they can get.

The Giants roster isn't bad. They were just badly mismanaged in the coaching department and injuries actually hampered them. Their biggest issue is the OL and Gettleman is a trench guy. So to actually strengthen your point of the Giants selling the #2 pick, maybe Gettleman sells the pick to us and takes two linemen at 21 and 22 which is a good range for OL in the 1st rd. Then he can take a backer in the 2nd. If he sees Eli as his guy maybe this can work. There's still hope LOL, but it could be a long shot. OK now thinking about it, is there any other team in the 1st round outside of Cleveland that has more capital than us? We may can swing that trade with the Giants. -

Here's the way I see the Browns. They get a QB, a CB and another HB and they are in prime position to finally make their stand in the North. The Ravens are stuck in the middle of the road. The Bengals are underachievers. The Browns get their QB and a workhouse HB and they are all of a sudden in prime position to do damage in the AFC North. If you are the Browns are you trading picks? I wouldn't. It's my time now. -

Outside of OL, what holes do they really have? They are set at WR, TE. The defense is set except for linebacker and they can take an OL or LB in round 2/3 or vice versa. They are taking the QB man. This is important for sure. -

Here is the thing about that year though. The Browns were in a rebuild mode so they would sell the #1 pick to whoever was offering the most. The Titans already had their QB and were trying to also bolster the roster. So those teams were willing to sell because they were trying to put a roster together. You would think the Browns with their need for a Franchise QB would have taken one, but they didn't. They wanted to build the roster knowing that they will probably be in this situation again and they were but with more picks. You have to have teams in the right position. I'm contending that this is not the case for us. The teams at the top are this go around are taking the QB's. We are on the outside looking in and most likely will not have a trade partner for Rosen or Darnald and after those two I just wouldn't even think about moving up for the other guys. -

It depends on who the Browns covet. If they take a QB at 1 and covet Sequon Barkely or Minkah Fitzpatrick, they are taking that guy at 4. They won't trade the pick. Too many variables on who teams might covet. -

Yeah but are they OK with Manning as a bridge or just OK with Manning as their guy? I see the Giants as, New GM, New Coaching Regime, they are getting their new QB. -

What's the price to move up and get our guy?
NewEraBills replied to ProcessTheTrust's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To me, it kinda does actually because if you sign a FA QB, who then becomes your guy? Are you swinging for the fences or are you content with grooming someone? So to me, there is a direct connection to what the Bills do via FA and what they'll do in the draft. Secondly, the issue is WHO is that guy? And who is willing to trade with us? Just because we have capital doesn't mean a team like the Giants, Broncos, Colts want to trade. Hell, the guy we covet might be their guy. -
How can anyone think the right side of our OL has been very good? Define very good? The stats do not lie on the right side of our OL. Sure they run blocking was good, but the pass blocking was atrocious.

The Eagles WR unit needed to be upgraded, so did the Rams but that was about it. The Eagles were set at OL, TE, DL, LB, Safety, maybe needed some CB help but they drafted Sydney Jones and then made the trade for Darby. Their HB's were not bad but they could have upgraded the position and they did this year with Blount and a trade for Ajiyi. So their roster was actually pretty set in a lot of areas. The Rams were similar. They had good pieces on defense, they had Gurley, the TE position was set, for the most part the OL was set. They needed WR's though. So to me teams that do that they don't necessarily have holes but more of we can upgrade this position. We have holes until we know what the FA moves will be. -
What's the price to move up and get our guy?
NewEraBills replied to ProcessTheTrust's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's irrelevant at this point until we can get a gauge on what the team will do in FA. If they do not make the FA acquisitions at certain positions there's just no way we can do that. The team has way too many holes. -
Ducasse and Mills must be replaced. They are BAD. Glenn is mostly unavailable. So to me I'd think about the line looking like this: Dawkins/Incognito/Wood Then we need to replace the two guys on the right.

I'll be first to ask: Would you fire Mike Tomlin?
NewEraBills replied to Ennjay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just think this is a silly question. Let's look at his tenure and ask this question. Outside of Bill Belicheck who are the two coaches that have been most consistent in winning and making the playoffs? Pete Carroll and Mike Tomlin. PERIOD. Who would they bring in that would be better? I just think it's a silly question. -
Down to Four - Which Team Are You Rooting For and Why?
NewEraBills replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Grew up in Florida so I'm pulling for the Jags. Secondly, any team that's going to have to face as much adversity that they will face I'll pull for them. Refs will be against them for sure. -
