And they can pick them up in rds 2 and 3. You just don't pass on a guy like Chubb who has the talent and skills to be a generational guy just because some other team wants a QB. Teams have to factor in what's going to be the best move for them as well. I mean put yourself in that GMs shoes. Would you take a guy that has the talent and skills to be a generational player or would you take more picks just because some other team needs a QB? If I'm that GM I'm taking the guy that has the talent and skills to be a generational player. He'll be a big difference maker on my team opening day 2018. And if he is then it's a foregone conclusion as to what the Browns are doing with the #4 pick.

And if they need help on their front 7 which they do, then why not sit at 3 and take the best front seven player in the draft in Bradley Chubb? You don't walk away from a difference maker like Chubb for quantity.

Potential replacements for Eric Wood
NewEraBills replied to The Now Moment's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It'll be interesting to see what takes place. I'm disappointed for Eric. He was a classic lunchpail guy. The issue I'm seeing right now is that the OL outside of Dawkins and Incognito is in shambles. We're not sure of what will happen with Glenn. The entire right side needs to be upgraded. -
Not if they think Barkley is their guy and they fear the Colts or Browns take him in the next couple of picks. They'll sit at 2 and take him.

Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey arrested for robbery
NewEraBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Get out of here with this nonsense. Do you know who his father is? This kid did not grow up under those circumstances. His father was an NFL HB so I don't subscribe to him growing up under those conditions. In the end this is just poor judgment. It was good judgment to get an uber if you know you are going to get drunk. Bad judgment to go after the driver violently. -

WOW, given who his father is and what's on the line for him, this is a shock to me. -
Bills need to trade up into the top 5

Even if you are convinced you still have to weigh options and ask yourself plenty of questions. That's a part of "the process". -
Bills need to trade up into the top 5

Thanks for the quote and the context. I like Beane's thinking and I agree with it. It just doesn't make sense for us given the holes on the team. We do need a franchise guy. But it takes two to tango and if those teams up at the top decide that their guy is on the board and they have rated him the highest player on their board, just because we have ammo doesn't mean they want to move off the player they've rated highest on their board. Now to add another layer, sometimes you do what doesn't make sense, take a major step back before you get better. Who knows?? We'll see. -
Did Beane say they would not do it or did he simply say, "It's a high price to pay", or something along those lines? In any case, I've always advocated that if the move up is small move up, but if it takes a kings ransom, we have way too many holes on the team to do that, IF our goal is to continue to build on the success we had this past season. We'll see what happens.

However, it never fails, someone will think they can fix this.

Happy for Falk. Need to look up Lauletta.

Honestly, there are probably some reaches in what the original poster says but let's be honest isn't it already common knowledge that the Bills NEED two DT's? That should be common knowledge even if Kyle Williams returns. It should also be common knowledge that the Bills need linebackers. So I don't think those two are leaks. Those should be common knowledge. Now about the Peterman stuff and the Glenn stuff, I'll suspend judgment. What I would say though is that it shouldn't take a lot to figure some of this stuff out. Of course, if the Bills cannot get the QB they want, Peterman and a Vet is in the cards. You're really not saying anything that shouldn't be common sense. It just really depends on how they have the QB's in this draft graded. At this point I think you do have to consider this: Who does the staff see as an upgrade over Peterman? If they cannot land who they consider an upgrade over Peterman, why waste a pick on someone you don't think is an upgrade? Again, this stuff really isn't that difficult to figure out. Not saying the original poster is right on anything but just saying a lot of what he says really isn't that difficult to figure out. What is difficult to figure out are the variables that only the front office knows, that is, they are the only ones who know the grades that they've assigned and the value they place on players in this draft. And at this point saying we won't draft a QB if we can't get Darnold could be smoke and mirrors to throw other teams off of someone that they MAY grade high. Who knows?

The Colts are taking Bradley Chubb man. If you look at their team and look at Chubb it's a perfect fit. Secondly, Chubb is most likely THE BEST player in this draft irregardless of need. So, given that, if Chubb is there do you think the Colts are going to give up the possibility of not just taking a guy who fills one of their needs, but taking a guy who may be regarded as the best overall player in the draft? I think not.

Dunno. Hadn't kept up on his draft stock. I'm thinking 2-4.
-
Sounds more like Luke Falk to me Particularly the Negatives, namely Poor build, looking frail, lacks mobility. That seems to describe Falk to a T just by looking at him. But alas, we'll see how things go.

So other prospects that are shining Been hearing some good things(impressive feet, vision and receiving) about Arizona State HB Kalen Ballage.
-
This is very important. They have to feel that these guys are not just top QB's. They have to feel that they are top five guys in the draft. That dampens things IMO. I'm not saying they won't make a move it'll just be how they grade the players but when start thinking about other guys (Roquan Smith; OL players, DL players) and these QBs together that's where the don't get your hopes up for a move up comes in. They are going to evaluate each player and give them a number on their board.
-
Good to hear about Falk's consistency. I'm still a fan.

To me it will depend on the process, no pun intended. He could go in the 1st depending on practice, interviews this week and at the combine. But to me, scouts always have this tendency to forget that the TAPE does not lie and overdraft guys. We'll see how it goes for him.
