  1. Hear me out. My initial response was NOT in relation to Rosen, Darnold, or Mayfield. It was in relation to Jackson, Allen, Rudolph, Falk, White. I'd have to compare them to what I already have in Nathan Peterman. Certainly, Jackson and Allen are better athletes. But are they better QB's? Given their struggles with completion percentage, struggles reading the entire field, mechanical issues, that's where they do not help me say yes over Peterman. Their untapped potential, of course, that is a YES over Peterman. The other three I say yes over Peterman in EVERYTHING. These two I say yes over Peterman as athletes, arm strength, but they have not shown me anything great in terms of reading the field and processing information, accuracy, mechanics, pocket awareness, and presence. They cause me to hesitate too much so I would not take either of them at 21. That's not saying I wouldn't take them at some point, but not at 21.
  2. To me what makes the Bills situation unique is the comparison of the players outside of the top to Nathan Peterman. To me, the question that must be asked and answered without hesitation is, "Is this guy a better QB for us than Nathan Peterman?" From rds 1-3, maybe even 4, there can be no hesitancy in the comparison when answering this question. Otherwise, I don't see the need to take whoever is on the board. Now, of course, Jackson and Allen are superior athletes but are they better QB's? At 21/22 I must be sure. There has to be a strong Yes. Otherwise, the value just isn't there IMO. And if I take a QB there, I'm just taking one just to be taking one, which is bad business. Imagine it this way. If I'm not sure, and I take a guy at 21, I might as well have at least ranked Peterman in the same spot last year and if I didn't need a CB I should have taken him there last year. To me, it's about value.
  3. So if he interviewed well he'll probably go in the top 7 picks, which is most likely not a good look for the Bills unless we pay a severe price and be willing to take some major steps back before taking another one forward.
  4. I wouldn't take the comparisons too literally. I pay more attention to the strengths and weaknesses and then go back and look for myself. Sometimes I can see exactly what he's talking about. Sometimes, I see something that he may have missed. That's why it's always good to have more than one set of eyes.
  5. They could be correct. But this is also lying season too, with some nuggets of truth sprinkled in. I don't doubt he's talked with teams that don't have him in the top 7. He doesn't indicate how many teams he's talked to. But that's beside the point. No team will give you their position on the QB's at this point either. They'll indicate that they like a certain guy, but they are not going to say I have Darnold at 1, Mayfield at 2 so on and so forth.
  6. One thing I will also say too is with the 2nd tier guys, if it were me, and if I didn't feel that I'm getting an upgrade over Nathan Peterman, then I wouldn't take them. Just use the pick to fill another position. To me, that's the key. If you cannot land one of the top guys, I don't think it is worthwhile to take a QB unless you feel you are getting someone who is an upgrade over Peterman. I would not take anyone in rd 2-4 unless they are a Peterman upgrade, who we took in rd 5. This is why we might be more inclined to trade up if someone drops rather than sit still. At this point I only see Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield as significant upgrades over Peterman. I think Falk and Rudolph MIGHT be upgrades, but by how much. Falk has some frame issues and Zerlien is correct in him taking a beating. That showed this year as he played the majority of the season with a broken wrist, which impacted his throwing mechanics and decision making.
  7. Rudolph or Falk is who I'd be targeting if we can't get Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield. I don't want Allen at all.
  8. Thanks. Great database
  9. To me if we can't land Mayfield or Darnold then I want 5 picks in the top 63
  10. Not to take up for Rudolph but the big issue is does he know football and can he translate what he's done into what someone else is asking him to do. If he can do that it doesn't matter what he played in. It's not like a drag, arrow, or slant changes from what Rudolph ran at Oklahoma State. And it's not like NFL teams are staying away from those routes. Is he a fast learner, can he translate what he's done? If he can he'll be fine. Btw, I'm not saying we should take him or skip on him. Just trying to throw a little water on the flames for guys that come out of those systems and it's held against them. I understand the criticism, but it's not always a valid one.
  11. Broncos May be looking to Wheel and Deal either for a FA or up in the draft http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/01/28/john-elway-we-have-the-draft-ammo-to-make-a-trade/
  12. Watched some IU tape on Scales and saw him at the E/W Shrine. I wouldn't take him in the 2nd. He's a great athlete but he's just as Raw as a linebacker as Allen is as a QB.
  13. But people are excited over Allen as something special within the same circumstances. Frankly, to me, he did nothing to separate himself from guys like White and Lauletta. Sure as a physical specimen he's unmatched, but I'm looking for a QB. He looked better the 2nd half but still did not distance himself from those guys as a passer IMO.
  14. I still haven't changed my e v a l either. To his credit, he turned things around in the 2nd half. However, I still did not see any active feet in the pocket. Most of his throws were all arm, which on one hand is impressive, on the other dangerous. The plays he made did stand out though as he trusted his guys to win the 1 v 1. I still think he's about 2 years away. I'd rather someone else take him and would be very disappointed if we gave up 21, 22, a first next year and something else this year for him. I would be completely disappointed.
  15. Lauletta is really helping himself.
  16. Davenport has completely changed my mind today. I'm not counting his TD. Outside of that, he's affected the passer a plenty.
  17. He's played better this half but I just see a lot of development that will need to happen and I'm not sure we are patient enough for it LOL
  18. Much better by Allen. Still no footwork but this is much better.
  19. Don't forget Baltimore too. Had they not won against NE that year it would have been Pats vs 49ers instead.
  20. OK, there's some of the potential. But I'm still on the NO train for the Bills.
  21. I was already not on board with Allen but today sealed it for me. Please stay away from him. Please. Whoever said he's about 2-3 years away, I think you are absolutely correct. What I specifically did not like watching Allen today: 1) Lack of Footwork in the Pocket 2) Slow Processor of what's in front of him. Held on to the football way too long at times. 3) Accuracy Issues 4) White and Benkert look much more ready and prepared to play in the NFL Whoever is drafting Allen is doing so on untapped potential alone.
  22. Heard some unfavorable things about Davenport during the week but man he's showed the hell out today. I thought he was too Raw for top 32 pick but he won me a little today.
  23. I've been talking about Falk for a while now. Simmered down some of the talk because not many people around him seem to like him, but I like his game and when I think about a QB profile that fits McD, he's the guy that comes to mind. 1) Small town kid; Farm guy 2) Walk on; 3 year starter; has played a lot of football 3) Humble; has no problem with hard coaching 4) Has actually had full command of an offense. Was trusted with checks; getting in and out of run plays. Was not required to look to the sideline for play checks it was all his call. He fits directly into the culture that McD is trying to build. As for his game, he has a lot of strengths. His arm strength is questionable at times; his patience in letting things develop gets tested at times as he likes to get the football out quickly. I like Falk. Like his footwork in the pocket; I like how he climbs the pocket. I do not like his frame LOL. From what I can gather, his benching was due to him not waiting for things to develop. Leach's comments were that he wanted Falk to see the field. So to me that was Leach being frustrated with Faulk pulling the trigger too early on some plays. I like Falk more than Rudolph and Jackson honestly. He's not going to give you much mobility but he can scoot when he needs too. It's not a strength. My favorite QB prospect though is Mayfield. It didn't start off that way but after watching the decisions he makes he won me. I'm not saying he's a better decision maker than other guys, but what I like is that the decisions that Mayfield likes to make are the ones that kill defenses. That might get him in trouble at the next level, I don't know, but that's the type of killer instinct you don't see in a lot of QBs and I like that. When you look at some of the plays where he has two options, most guys will take the safer underneath one but Mayfield likes that intermediate and deep dagger that hurts defenses. Back to Falk for a second. He's viewed negatively because of the offense he played in. But the thing I think that makes him different is that he's adaptable and a quick learner. Falk knows football, not just Mike Leach's offense. He can translate principles from Leach's offense to other systems and identify systems that run a lot of what Leach is running (Patriots run some of those principles). In any case we'll see how our QB search ends soon.
  24. I like McCray at Linebacker. Good size, range and instincts. I also like what I see from the Rutgers DE. Not sure of his name but the burst and first step is what you want to see out of pass rushers. Has a natural bend, duck and under. Raw player but I like the speed and explosiveness. Reminds me of Leonard Floyd a little.
  25. Actually, not good news for Allen because at least if Mayfield were there, there's an expectation that he might not be on that level yet. But if he does nothing to distance himself from guys like White, Lauletta then I think it hurts in a way. But again, there's always someone who thinks they can fix things.
