  1. This is certainly something to consider. His WR's here should be better though and hopefully the running game is better so it might not be all so bad.
  2. To me, it's Allen's job to lose. I was against the pick but when we picked him I got on board and he won me in his interviews. I said in May that in a perfect scenario I'd like Allen to start like week 11 but could very well see him starting week 1 and I'm not a fan of a rookie going into Baltimore against their secondary but it's what it is. What I will say is that one way to keep defenses honest is to move the pocket and throw to the perimeter. Guess which one of these QB's does that best? It sure isn't the 5 INT guy from last year. HE doesn't have the arm to attack the perimeter. Secondly, one other way to keep defenders honest, even if you don't hit a deep pass over the top is to threaten them with it. Guess which one of these QB's will make the DB's work for their money deep? Again, it isn't the guy from last year. Finally, when you have a bad OL you need a QB who has the ability to extend plays. A sitting duck is going to get shot. Guess which guy does that best? So to me there is no argument for Peterman except as a backup. We don't want to rush it but I think the time is here.
  3. Yeah there was one run where I think he got completely fooled. It was the one where the WR was in jet motion. He followed the WR but the HB went the other way. That was the one where Poyer had to eat that stiff arm. The Jet motion had Edmunds standing still.
  4. It did. Dawkins lowered his head, was flat footed and got driven back into the QB. Just overall terrible technique.
  5. Probably giving him a lot more to digest and it's not landing. I mean when you look at Carolina's defense Davis and Thompson actually have a lot of responsibilities. I think last year we were pretty vanilla on defense but now they may be trying to give Miliano more and he's just not digesting it. I'm not sure.
  6. Looking at that I can't really agree that it's completely on Bodine. It depends on what Juan is teaching, but if we look at the pre-snap look by the Browns they have a six-man box with three on each side of the C. On the snap Bodine actually looks at the MLB to his right our left based on the camera. They (Bodine and Ducasse) both engage the 1 tech initially. Bodine has his eye on the backer and once he realizes he's not blitzing I think in his mind he can now pass this rusher off to Ducasse, who once he realizes the off the ball linebacker is not blitzing should be 1 v 1 against this 1 tech while Bodine slides to help. Dawkins is 1 v 1 vs the Edge rusher. In any case, I think it's hard to tell without knowing what Juan teaches against a 4 man rush. Does the C not pass the 1 tech off to the Guard or does he pass the 1 tech off to the G when there is no pressure from the second level?
  7. You don't want Allen to get killed but Peterman IS going to get killed and Allen will have to play anyway.
  8. Not completely true at all. For instance, pause the following video at 15 seconds He got combo blocked. Now we can read this as either he got moved off the point by the combo block, OR we can read it as he actually did what he was supposed to do by moving his body in the left A gap to cut off that lane and the weak side linebacker didn't fill the Right A gap, which is where the football was ran. We'll see in the upcoming week. If Miliano's snaps decrease then we can begin to form a picture of what's going on.
  9. I'm not sure if that was on him or Ducasse. Looks like Bodine picked up a guy that Ducasse thought he should have picked up and then the other guy ran in untouched. I'm not sure but that was a mess in the middle. It still doesn't excuse Ducasse who for a 6'5 329 lb guy just gets slapped around like a lil "mitch" LOL
  10. With the way this OL is he's going to play sooner or later this year anyway. Peterman cannot extend plays and will be a sitting duck. He has a weak arm. It's not a good recipe at all. Bad OL, weak arm QB who cannot extend plays but will have to run for his life. Peterman doesn't need another 5 INT game. It's a major possibility if the OL plays like it did last night.
  11. Didn't have that kind of success against Solder last week. The thing people need to look at is Dawkins technique vs Garrett, especially on the play where AJ got hurt. The technique was terrible. He lowered his head and got pushed back into the QB. He also got flat footed which led to him being in a position to catch rather than being able to hand punch, use his arms and keep Garrett at a distance.
  12. I'm not contesting that. I'm operating on the assumption that Daboll is looking for something else in his TE's. I look at NE, Cleveland, and Alabama, all teams where Daboll has had significant offensive input and none of them had a guy at TE like O'Leary. They all had guys that were flexible and could line up and make plays anywhere even out wide on the perimeter and they all had blocking ability. O'Leary is a limited H-Back who makes plays to the best of his ability. He's just probably not what Daboll is looking for is my assumption and if cut he'll find a home, he's just not what our guy wants in a TE, IF cut. We'll see.
  13. To me he's still on it. What did he do that was impressive? Getting open on a blown coverage that you and I could have gotten open on and catching an easy pass that you and I could have is not impressive. It's standard.
  14. Dawkins, I'm sorta concerned with actually. It was his technique. It was very bad against Garrett and I'll have to go back to last week but I'm not sure he was all that great vs Addison either. What we do know is Ducasse and Mills are atrocious to the f'ing MAX. Miller surprisingly seems decent. Ducasse let's guys get into his chest and maul him backwards into the QB. Mills is just a turnstile at times and it's absolutely ugly. Watching him at times is like being forced to go to the prom with the wicked witch of the West. Just ugly and a disgusting experience.
  15. I'm going to go back and look at Edmunds again. This might not be an Edmunds issue except reaction time. I think he understands his gap assignments. This might be a weakside backer issue not sure.
  16. Actually, I may have jumped the gun on Edmunds. Pause this at 15 seconds. There are a few ways we can read this in terms of run fit. I'm not sure how it was/is coached but to me, everyone does exactly what they are supposed to do except Miliano. If you stop it at 15 seconds, Star places his body in the Left A gap to clog the lane. Kyle plays the outside shade on the right side, 3 tech and he stands his ground there. Miliano should have filled the A gap on the right side. Edmunds played the C to the backside contain. That's the way I read this initially. Another way to read it: Star and Kyle got completely turned and it opened up the run lane. Which one is it? We'll see this week. If Miliano starts fading out then we know what it was.
  17. Looking at Star, to me he's doing his job. He's taking on two blockers and holding the point. The problem is the linebackers are not filling lanes. They are LOST. Notice most of the big runs are where Edmunds or Milano should be and not where LORAX should be. I'm thinking they are going to have to have Edmunds and Milano on the move to shore up the run issues or misdirection and cutbacks are going to kill this team.
  18. There is no case for Peterman. I'm not sure why you guys are advocating this. Hey he looked good with the 1's because it was the 1's. He had 1 pass to O'Leary with the 3's that went for a TD on a blown coverage that a guy like Derek Anderson would also make. Nothing impressive. Bottom line, Our OL got AJ hurt and sadly it was our best lineman Dawkins. I'm not sure what Juan teaches but that was just terrible technique by Dawkins. He even lowered his head taking on Garrett. WTF was that? In any case, there is only 1 QB on this team that can overcome the sad a$$ OL and that's Allen. Ducasse should not be playing. And Dawkins has to play better. Garrett bullied him on the playground last night. Mills didn't have a clue at times. It was just a sad and pathetic looking bunch. Allen needs to start because he can extend plays and his arm will scare defenses. Peterman is not going to extend plays and his arm is just what defenses love when a QB is having to run for his life. There needs to be a shake-up at LG. Miller seemed OK at RG.
  19. O' Leary in with the 3's
  20. Tell you what, next week I definitely want to see more Levi Wallace. I think Taron Johnson might have that nickel spot nailed down.
  21. This is why I didn't buy anything in Vegas on Peterman last week. If Peterman was as good as the impressions showed last week, he should be making these third string guys look better. This should be beyond him, like an afterthought. But it's not. He also just does not have the arm to get passes into tight windows.
  22. I like what I've seen from Taron Johnson, Levi Wallace, Wyatt Teller, Shaq Lawson. Wallace and Teller against lesser comp but they looked good to me.
  23. Like what I've seen from Levi Wallace and Taron Johnson.
  24. Allen's ability to extend plays hides some of the OL's protection deficiencies. The horrible OL that we feared showed up in this game. I know Teller is not going up against starters but man, Ducasse is just soo bad. I'd like to see Teller get some snaps with the first team.
  25. Levi Wallace!!! Let's goo!!!
