I was at the Ole Miss vs Vanderbilt game last night. I wanted to get a look at AJ Brown. He had a nice stat line, but I will be interested to see his combine/pro day workouts. I watched him on every snap and I honestly would not take him before the late 2nd/3rd round. Here is what I took away from the game. Match ups AJ Brown vs Randall Haynie (Redshirt Freshman 6'0 190) - Brown had a bulk of his yards against two players Haynie was one of them. Brown pretty much bullied Haynie the majority of the night when Haynie was matched up with him. AJ Brown vs Donavan Sheffield (Senior 6'0 190) - while not as bad as Haynie, Brown did the rest of his major damage against Sheffield. Here's the thing, Sheffield is not being regarded high as a pro prospect. Haynie is as green as all get out. Now to the matchup that really caught my attention and some other notes. AJ Brown vs JoeJuan Williams (6'3 208 Jr) - Brown struggled mightily vs Williams. Williams was able to stagger him at the line and I saw Brown get no separation against him, absolutely none. Which brings me to my other notes. Even when Haynie and Sheffield was 1 v 1 vs Brown, which was the majority of the night and I'm not sure why, but Brown looked slow in and out of his breaks. I did not see an explosive player. He reminds me a lot of Treadwell. I'm not saying he will be that bad, but I was hyped to see AJ Brown and all the language surrounding him just did not fit. I don't see an explosive athlete. I did not like his route running either, and then there's the not separation issue. I'll be interested to see how he times and works out early March, but what I saw last night I was not impressed.

TNF in the PNW: Green Bay @ Seattle

Both. It's what happens when you pay all the money to one position. You can't surround them with the talent they need to win. -
I wouldn't hate it either. I would have the following from the list high on my board: 1. Josh Allen 2. Greedy Williams 3. Jonah Williams 4. Montez Sweat

Bills O gets some love at nfl.com

To me it's hard to say giving the QB and OL situations. Yes he had some games where he had crucial drops as a rookie. Outside of that however, we really couldn't grade his rookie season because of the QB play. He was also playing through an injury the entire time. This season I'd argue the same thing, it's tough to gauge WR play when the QB play is not where it needs to be. Well except for when you do the opposite of what you are paid to do, ie, see Kelvin Benjamin. His play is easy to grade. -
I also look at it this way, Barkley is a good model for Josh. He showed poise in the pocket. He didn't second-guess his throws. He used the pocket. Allen needs to see and learn these things. The offense works wonderfully when the QB plays within these dynamics. I don't want Allen to go back out there second-guessing throws, being late, running around playing backyard football hoping something sticks. He has to get rid of that. The argument can be made that he has to play out of it, I agree, but also, I'd rather see that happen when we are completely out of playoff contention.

First Round Draft Pick Is ...
NewEraBills replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we are going OL, I think the best thing to think about is the strategy. Do you build from the outside in or the inside out. I'd go the latter. Life is much easier for QB's when interior guys understand the calls and are not getting pushed back so the QB can step up. I'd look at replacing Bodine, Ducasse, and Miller ASAP. -

It's sad when you feel like turning away from your team. -

LOL, one can only hope it is. Haha. -
They sure do when they have some. This team doesn't have strengths on offense. When your OL is piss poor at run and pass blocking and you have WR's that do not get a lot of separation, and when you have a qb that is trying to learn the game, then you get exactly what we see. Something that looks putrid but it actually has good designs and schematics.

Ed Oliver or Greg Little?
NewEraBills replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe in building the trenches from the inside out so I'd go Oliver. If all else fails you can still play Dawkins at LT. Now RT on the other hand, that's an issue. But the entire interior of the OL is a huge issue. -
Only if they can get proper compensation that will help them, namely a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Otherwise just let him play out his deal.

Cooper is not going to help the Dallas offense.

The Marquee Matchup of Week Seven: NO vs. BAL

That game was as fun as advertised IMO. If you're a Ravens fans, it's a sucky way to lose. Unfortunately, we know about pretty accurate kickers and wide right ? -

The thing in the Saints favor though is the Saints defense doesn't have to be good. If the Flacco that played against the Browns shows up, the Ravens are cooked. To me the bigger matchup in this game is the Saints defense vs the Ravens Offense. What units will show up? -

OK. I'm not for sure why you took me to say he has no chance of beating them this weekend though because I never said that. I only stated the fact that it's the only team in the league he hasn't beaten. -

Neither are the 2014 Ravens. So I'm not sure what your point could be. -

And the Saints still lost. And Brees career extends back beyond 2014. It's just a team he's never beaten for whatever reason. -

A win will get the Raven's monkey off of Brees' back. It's the one team in the league he's never beaten in his entire career. I think it'll be a really fun game. The Ravens struggled to stop the run vs Cleveland because Pierce was out and Joe Flacco showed who he was by only putting up 9 points. But there is one he hasn't beaten his entire career and it's them. -
I think we are really good but not the best. I look at 1) Redzone 2) 3rd Down 3) Points Allowed 4) Turnover Differential 5) Ability to get to the QB 6) Yards Per Game (Rush and Pass) 7) Scoring I think what you will find is the Bills are very damn good in every last one of these categories with the exception of scoring; and 3rd downs. I also think going forward the biggest issue will be the CB spot opposite Tre White. This is really what cost us yesterday and I think it's a spot that teams like to attack so I think we are susceptible to the big play when this spot has to play single coverage. If we could solidify that spot, I think we'd have most offenses 24-hours on lockdown.
