With you here, but I'll add to it.  I'm not so much interested in the competition among the WRs.  It seems pretty clear that the two leading receivers on this team should be and likely will be Shakir and Kincaid.  If we weren't forcing ourselves into this "complimentary football" model it shouldn't be unreasonable to expect Shakir to post well over 1,000 receiving yards and 8+ TDs.  I'd anticipate receiving yards in the order of Shakir, kincaid, Samuel, Cook and then who knows.  Coleman is not NFL ready despite narratives.  Top draft profiling sites have him listed as eventually being an average starter.  IMO that's generous.  I do not see him even approaching success in the X-WR role.

For me it's more of what their plan is in the passing game.  It keeps changing from season to season and has once again changed, now purportedly being a short-medium game.  The curiosity for me is that this does not feed into Allen's strengths as a passer, it feeds more into a game-managing QB role.

    Some rhetorical questions:

Will they allow Allen and provide for him to go deep as often as he likes to?   Certainly our WR roster isn't built for that.  Shakir is the only WR that has proven anything that is capable of going deep with much aplomb.  Coleman in the X-role begs questioning.

They obviously want him to throw short-medium more, how will he be in that role given that if he has a weakness, that's it.  Last season his completion % and rating plummeted from 70.3% and 96.6 to 60.7% and 85.5 going from Dorsey to Brady.  That's a 10% drop in compl.% and 15 point drop in rating, which is enormous.  It's over a third-way down drop in rating ranking and from first to DFL in compl.% ranking.  His passing scoring production was cut by 26%.  He averaged a mere 1 passing TD in his last five games.

What will impact the passing game is their plans for running the ball.  Cook petered out last season averaging a bottom-dwelling 3.6 YPC under Brady not including that Dallas game.  Even with the Dallas game he averaged 4.3 under Brady, very average, and a drop from 5.1 under Dorsey.  Is the plan to use Davis in a big role?  How is that different than when we had Singletary and Moss, both of which came into the league with greater draft potential than Davis.

It seems that this team is going to continue to try to play '90s football despite our core talent being capable of much much more in the passing game.  Whether that works out well or is much less the wisest thing to do remains to be seen.

So you won’t be asking Santa for a Colman jersey this Christmas ?

Sure, but I think it's worth mentioning that other fanbases have mentioned his proclivity for having great camps/pre-seasons then playing small when the bullets fly. A la Peterman or Trent.

Goes without saying that I hope he's a star for us this season.

What other fanbases the Bears and the Dolphins I don’t remember him having any as a Dolphin , and maybe one as a member of the Bears ?

    The issue here is likelihood.

    Hope is not a strategy.

It's unlikely that a player who has been unproductive for 2+ seasons and a locker-room problem for the past 3 seasons is going to become productive and not a problem.    And yes, there were issues with him with the Steelers all thru 2021.   Simply put, he's been a low character, coach-killer type of a player.

So you’re saying there is a chance

But it’s not true. It’s just you and some others deciding that people that don’t agree with you are bad people simple because they don’t agree with you. The alternative would be to believe that they’re (by and large) reasonable people who see things differently.

That’s not the people I was talking about

I know he’s just getting used to the NFL but I always thought this talk of Caleb being this once in 5 year kinda talent was little off. Everytime I saw him go against a defense with a pulse in college he struggled. Hopefully that isn’t the case for the Bears sake.

What was his 40 time that’s the only thing that really matters

But not Allen who was drafted 7th overall?   ... and over Peterman who had done nothing special at Pitt?

    Didn’t he beat Clemson ?

Josh Allen will be the best QB he has had in his career, and the best QB since Big Ben in Pittsburgh where he had his best seasons. If having the chance to play with a great QB like Josh Allen isn't motivation enough to turn your career around, I don't know what would be.

    Agree 100%

Even in Pittsburgh Big Ben was already at the end of his career and his arm was shot

Yea I thought the same. Does it mean he has really shone, or is it an indictment on others? We know Keon has had some struggles, which is probably to be expected, but Shakir? Samuel?

Claypool is probably the most talented out of the bunch so no one should be surprised that he outperforms anyone we got on that field ,  there’s no doubt he’s more then capable of putting the kind of numbers like in his rookie year , the only question here is will he continue to stay committed and become the player that Steelers we’re hoping for when they drafted him ?  He’s in the best situation to make that happen and probably his last chance as well and he knows that ,

im rooting for him to turn his career and his life around !!

Pretty uninspiring pool for a 5m home if uuu ask me.

and I have absolutely no idea why people have such an infatuation for shoes like this. Dude needs 2 closets for his shoes? Really?

Unlike Coleman Tyrod is really fast wears out a lot of shoes , more shoes means more closet space

One play but do you remember kinkaids down the field block vs NYJ on Shakir’s 81 yd td. He took out 3 jets with one block. He didn’t come into the league with a reputation as a blocker but was beyond able and competent last year

Kincaid will be the best TE to ever play for the Bills , hopefully one day his number will be retired

Claypool developing nice I see. Solid cheap underrated signing.

    Claypool & Cephus> Diggs.

    JMO!

I’m rooting so hard for the Claypool signing to work out that would give us a legit WR2 who is still young , him and Colman could be a nightmare for DB’s to cover especially in the red zone

Can't wait to see Ray Davis and Dewayne Carter this summer.

I think I’ll be watching all the pre-season games this year with more interest then I have since we drafted Josh

  13. I keep hearing good things about  Claypool if he gets his s*it together add Coleman and Samuel to Kincaid and Shakir this group has potential to be more productive then last year

He’s everything. He’s faster than 4.5 also, plus plays even faster.

I do remember during draft time that most saw him as a big slot, which is what many say about Coleman. Coleman just didn’t have the production though.

Considering who was throwing Colman the ball and JJ

I believe we saw the absolute pinnacle of what this offense could accomplish playing ball control in the last divisional game vs one of the best defenses in the league in KC

they played a perfect game and still needed a freak fumble to keep it close. And that was w a better offensive roster. It's not going to work imo, we don't have the players or the coaching for it

Yes yes that’s what cost us the game against the Chiefs not all the injuries on defense yes yes it was what you are saying

I think the Bills make the playoffs this year but I still think they are behind the chiefs because the chiefs are just better up front.  The Bills have done nothing to change that this offseason.

I view the Bills currently as in the same ballpark as the 90's packers.  The packers just could not beat Dallas in the playoffs.  They tried everything.  Signed one of the greatest players in nfl history in reggie white and he got his azz kicked in two playoff games against Dallas.  They just could not matchup because of Dallas talent up front on both sides of the ball.  It completely disrupted their ability to play the game the way they wanted to.

Green Bay finally got over the hump in 96 because Dallas was running on fumes and with irvin suspended and deion hurt Dallas lost to Carolina.

To me as it stands today, the Bills need someone else to knock off KC and then they need to go win.  I think its possible.  Buffalo struggles with Cincy and JAX a little also but I think they would have a better shot today at Cincy, Jax, Baltimore than KC.  Especially if the ravens decided to play like a passing first team the way they did last year vs KC in the championship game, that was just insane.   The AFC is loaded.  I just hope the Bills are actually healthy for once when the playoffs start, I believe they will be in them someway somehow.

We don’t need anyone to beat KC for us what we need is going into the playoffs healthy

Maybe we should just trade Allen then. Let’s trade him for 2 more TEs, and Derrick Henry.
