  1. I think the topic is a bit more complicated than many think. My quick answer to the OP's claim is no; the media is not the problem for the Buffalo teams' continued failures. But media does have influence over all people. As McLuhan once said, "All media work us over completely. They are so pervasive in their personal, political, economic, aesthetic, psychological, moral, ethical, and social consequences, that they leave no part of us untouched, unaffected, unaltered. The medium is the massage.” McLuhan was referring to all media forms, along with what we call "the media," but nonetheless, we are all touched by its presence. This includes owners, players, coaches, etc. Furthermore, I do not think those who claim immunity to media are being completely honest (especially while simultaneously posting messages through a media interface). In simple terms, if those at the highest places of power use media and are influenced by media, then why wouldn't people like Pegula, McDermott, or any player be influenced by its power. For instance, there may be a correlation between Twitter and performance. In other words, a mass influx of positive comments through social media may inspire while a mass influx of negative may produce negativity. I realize many are skeptical of this possibility, but I think that revolves the concept of the individual who "sees through" media or plays the role of what Reinhold Niebuhr calls the "cool observer." Again, I find this dishonest. And again, I disagree with the OP's central claim, but it is not an entirely worthless premise.
  2. But think of the hijinx that will ensue if we start rookie QB after he threw 5 picks in a half. We need to embrace the fact we are alive and conscious during something will be talked about in Bills history for decades. This is so Billsy that compared to McDermott, Rob Ryan looks like Tom Cruise from Cocktail crossed with Knute Rockne and the ghost of Author Ashe. Please start Peterman. It's the only entertainment left.
  3. After seeing Peterman's performance last Sunday, do we revive the conversation about Orton on the wall of fame? Does the best quarterback of the drought era deserve a spot?
  4. We have to add that it CAN get worse than Rex Ryan's Defense.
  5. I would love to see Peterman start against the Chiefs. That would be so Billsy! I realized that the only fun I have watching this team now involves making fun of them. DiMarco is having passes thrown to him! Ingest that deeply for a moment. Someone drew up a play for a guy who can only block. He is a guy who has 53 fantasy points in a five year career. And we threw the ball to him while Shady was in the game. Oh yeah, Tolbert. Our best receiver has averaged 2 catches a game. This is with TT starting nine games. And right now, our offence is better than our defense!!!! The Kizer fumble against Jacksonville yesterday was hilarious because a Browns running back couldn't even pick up the ball in the end zone all alone with the ball right under him. That's funny. The Bills are funny. Only way to look at the team. Let's all have a nice laugh for the rest of the season and hope Peterman starts Sunday. And this:
  6. Good question. I feel numb to it. Or maybe a better word for me is apathetic. I was at the game and while I watched it unfold it didn't bother all that much. I kind of laughed afterward and just accepted that is par for the course. So, I think the big thing now is do I even pay attention to the hope of squeezing into the playoffs. I know many will continue to post stuff about how we still have a chance and so forth, but I think "why engage myself in this?"
  7. Jeff Seeman is the son of late referee Jerry Seeman.
  8. Understanding Media by Marshall McLuhan. Mandatory reading for 21st Century humans.
  9. That is just baffling. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Is this a direct quote about the racism? That's insane! They said "Taylor was demoted because of racism."?
  11. Exactly. He wasn't good and neither were many other parts of the team.
  12. Boldest since Reggie Bush reverse against the Dolphins last season. Now that was BOLD!
  13. I agree. Players are not going to tank. But in terms of a higher draft pick, if we lost all the rest, it would be better. So, if we lose Sunday, I will still cheer for the Bills to win every game. But in the back of my mind, I know it is better if we lose the rest.
  14. Interesting. Dow Chemical or Union Carbide? I teach about the incident in one of my college classes. Incidentally, I am not completely joking about the similarities. Obviously, Bhopal was far more devastating and tragic, but the environmental damage and subsequent health issues in post-industrial Buffalo are not so different (cancer rates, asthma, emphysema, etc.). Not to mention the lack of compensation from the companies who ruined the area.
  15. Makes sense. Bhopal and Buffalo share many similarities.
  16. If they lose Sunday, then it would probably be better to lose out. But we will probably end up winning against the Fins once and the Colts. 7-9. If we win Sunday, then we have a real chance at the playoffs because we can beat the Fins twice and the Colts.
  17. Those were two really terrible and lopsided loses. But if we can win at Los Angeles, we have a legit shot. Miami is as bad as us and so it Indy. Have to cheer to the Ravens to lose a couple. We lose Sunday, it's over.
