This new helmet rule will destroy the NFL.
leonbus23 replied to njbuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with this. Also, I think that over time players will adapt, as well. -
Hopefully, the helmet rule will alter how players tackle; whereas, the catch rule is absolutely related to referee perception. In other words, the catching situation does not involve altering how players play and is at the discretion of officials. The aim of the helmet rule is to alter how players play. Let's see how it develops.

Hard Knocks 2018: The Cleveland Browns
leonbus23 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True. I think pot transcends political, ethnic, and economic (class) boundaries. My ultra conservative, hyper-patriotic, Trump supporter cousin partakes daily, and so does my Latino, immigration activist, starving musician buddy. When they hang out together, it is always peaceful and fun! I think when it becomes legal for recreation in most states (although, parts of the south and mid-west will lag behind in legalization), that the NFL should change its policy. -
Hard Knocks 2018: The Cleveland Browns

Before watching the first episode, I thought the Browns may win a few games this year because of the young and new talent, etc. After watching the first episode, no way. They will lose at least 14 games this season. Hue Jackson, Josh McDaniels, and Gregg Williams are the worst coaching trio in the league. They make Kay Stephenson's staff look like Lombardi, Landry, and Shula. -
My cousin, who works at the Davie Alehouse (across the street from TC), said she saw him there EVERYDAY last week! Said he had the boneless wings mild with extra ranch at least three times.

Almost reached Peterman's ineptness. 4 ints in the first half. In his defense, Montreal looks like a truly awful team in evert facet of the game. -
Could the new "Helmet Rule" ruin football?
leonbus23 replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a bit absurd, considering that American Football has become an intricate part of our cultural framework. The argument that playing or not playing involves an individual choice decontextualizes the significant role football plays socially and economically in our culture. Furthermore, your claim about a "safe way" to tackle appears as a straw man argument, as nobody is asserting that there exists an entirely "safe way" to bring down a 250 lb animal going 20 mph. People are claiming that there are safer ways on a spectrum of potential harm. Also, nobody is claiming that people like you are "terrible" as individuals. I am sure you do some admirable things in your life, personally. The debate is about how to decrease injury while maintaining the basic characteristics of the sport. Finally, playgrounds are for children. A padded playground is safer for children. Obviously, your comment carries a subtext about our United States culture, in general (and we can all easily see what media you ingest). But relax and simply restrict your arguments, as fallacious as they are, to the topic of American Football and not how our entire culture is becoming soft, weak, bleeding heart pussies. -
Could the new "Helmet Rule" ruin football?
leonbus23 replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like many, my main concern involves how referees will enforce this rule. I imagine that it will go uncalled many times; but, at some point, it will be a huge factor in a crucial moment of a game. In other words, a Patriots game where an opposing star defensive player is ejected. Sort of like the catch rules, it can be used to determine / influence outcomes of games. -

Hard Knocks 2018: The Cleveland Browns

I think you answered your own question. Many factors in play. Race, class, mental health, education, addiction, family and community, etc. Gordon began his life with all of these factors on the low end of the spectrum or stacked against him. I'd call him an idiot if he was raised by a doctor and a professor in La Jolla, CA with a maid, tutors, access to health care, regular healthy meals, white, etc. and he still screwed up repeatedly. -

This has to be a troll comment. If not, worst comment in the history of the board (aside from politics). -
