Could the Bill's end up with 2 first rounders?
IgotBILLStopay replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Depends on how much higher no? Would you prefer 24th and 31st or 21st and 33rd? Likely the former. But the answer is also a function of which player you feel strongly about and if he is available at, say, 21. -
Could the Bill's end up with 2 first rounders?
IgotBILLStopay replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
5th year option is for all first rounders. So, just from that point of view, getting two low first rounders is better than getting a higher first rounder and high second rounder. -
He is not just a journeyman CFL QB. He is the best in that league. And that is the league that gave the NFL Kurt Warner. Johnny Football Manziel - NFL draft first rounder - was struggling to stay in that league. And Reilly is a winner despite not having all the physical tools of Josh Allen. That makes me feel good about having Allen. The comparison was not intended as a diss to JA, which is the way it is being taken. Reilly is old now - but it is quite likely he didnt get the right breaks in the NFL when he was young. Kurt Warner became NFL darling only because of a freak Trent Green injury.

What part of my post makes you think I have forgotten how good Wentz is (was)? All I said is that he does not have a gunslinger mentality and hence is different from Josh Allen. Just exaggerating to make my point, you can think of my post as Allen : Wentz is same as Farve : Peyton Manning. Will that satisfy you that I am not dissing Wentz?

We all know Josh Allen is a freak. His arm strength is unparalleled, Wonderlic outstanding, pocket presence and scrambling ability is great etc. In fact, I had not yet seen a QB with a style similar to Josh Allen. I think I finally found one! Mike Reilly - He too came out of an even smaller school (Central Washington - Div 2), had a great Wonderlic (38), has elite arm speed (58) and actually scrambles decently and makes these deep throws on the run. The great news is that he plays winning football. Won the Grey Cup and was MVP. Compare these two measurements: Pre-draft measurables Ht Wt 40-yard dash 10-yd split 20-yd split 20-ss 3-cone Vert jump Broad Wonderlic 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m) 214 lb (97 kg) 4.74 s 1.62 s 2.71 s 4.11 s 6.76 s 32 1⁄2 in (0.83 m) 9 ft 1 in (2.77 m) 38 40 (and splits) and vertical from Pro Day, all others from NFL Combine Pre-draft measurables Ht Wt Arm length Hand size 40-yard dash 10-yd split 20-yd split 20-ss 3-cone Vert jump Broad 6 ft 4 7⁄8 in (1.95 m) 237 lb (108 kg) 33 1⁄4 in (0.84 m) 10 1⁄8 in (0.26 m) 4.75 s 1.59 s 2.74 s 4.40 s 6.90 s 33 1⁄2 in (0.85 m) 9 ft 11 in (3.02 m) All values are from NFL Combine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Reilly_(quarterback) (Wonderlic Reference) https://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/03/how-fast-football-throw-nfl-combine-logan-thomas (reference for Mike Reilly throwing speed) https://www.esks.com/2016/04/14/qb-mike-reilly-highlights/ He has deceptive speed for a QB. I would categorize him as Josh Allen Lite. He is just a bit smaller, maybe a bit slower, wont hurdle a LB etc. but the comparison is uncanny. I first saw the parallel with Josh Allen in the Duke Williams highlights video - but the more I look, the more he resembles Josh Allen. He also has a tendency to scramble and take shots downfield just like JA. I think the league did not realize his potential all these years (he was always on an NFL roster behind an entrenched veteran). Now after Josh Allen's success, people are starting to look at him. He just had a tryout with Jacksonville. There is a reason why Duke Williams signed with us over 8-10 other suitors. His best success came with a Josh Allen like QB.

https://www.cover1.net/farhan-lalji-of-tsn-discusses-bills-signing-of-wr-duke-williams/ Report from a Vancouver reporter who watched him all year. 8-10 teams wanted him - but he chose Buffalo for the fit. Highlights fit with josh Allen due to catch radius and high pointing the catch. Coaches from CFL lauded his humility, focus hard work etc.

Nick Foles Franchise Tag Question
IgotBILLStopay replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are two potential advantages to Tagging - a. draft compensation and b. steering him away from the Redskins The disadvantage is that Franchise Tagging makes Foles less attractive to teams that have to give up draft compensation and will make a long term deal less likely (depends on the level of draft compensation) and runs the risk of him signing the Tag and then them having to trade his contract. Actually the safest scenario is for Philly not to franchise tag him (unless they have a wink wink deal where they withdraw the tag without draft compensation to allow Foles to sign a long term deal with a team not in their division). They recoup 2 mill in that case. -
Just closely watched these highlights. The guy is arguably a more complete receiver than anyone coming out of college this year. He has speed (why did he run only a 4.72 at the combine?), separation, elevation, ability to catch in traffic and is elusive enough to rack up YAC. Almost every throw he catches at its highest point (except for the one where he was unsighted and it hits his helmet - he still comes up with it). Enjoy!! Very Very underrated signing by the Bills - could have a shot at our #1 if he has really matured from his college days. https://www.cover1.net/farhan-lalji-of-tsn-discusses-bills-signing-of-wr-duke-williams/ Report from a Vancouver reporter who watched him all year. 8-10 teams wanted him - but he chose Buffalo for the fit. Nick Foles Franchise Tag Question
IgotBILLStopay replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Apparently the Eagles' compensation for some other team signing Foles under the Franchise tag is only going to be a 3rd rounder. I am surprised - i thought it would be higher. Maybe they do have a deal worked out for a 3rd round pick and this is a way for them to get an additional 2 mill out of the Foles situation. Can understand Foles buying out - he wants more than one year guaranteed. Would be interesting if Foles cant come to terms with another team - then he would rather sign the tag - will be funny if the Eagles have to pay draft compensation to some other team to take on Foles' contract:) -
I know what you mean but maybe the schedule makers will consider Mayfield vs. Allen a marquee enough matchup for the undercard:)

Iron sharpen Iron! Bring it on baby!!

People forget that her brain was as big as her bust. Probably the only blonde hollywood star who would have exceeded a 37 on the Wonderlic. If Kevin White has those brains to go along with his physical talents - he will be a great fit in Buffalo:)
-
Intriguing. Was hurt a lot. But he did reel in that 50+ yard Hail Mary vs. the Pats that almost tied the game (how many guys could actually do that?). Will actually be a good fit for a QB like Allen. Let your medical staff do its work and if there are no health concerns bring him in - he can be had at a reasonable price and can be a difference maker.

If we have to get a Thursday game, please let it be opening week.
-
Just dont want us playing a Thursday game (too many injuries) or facing a team that is coming off a Thursday game or bye week (too much prep time for them). Other than that I am excited to face any opponent!! I am salivating already at Allen vs. Darnold and Allen vs. Mayfield.

Non-call affected Super Bowl too

The original post was not supposed to be a whine. It was about luck. PI could have been called there. The game was basically decided on those two plays - both resulting in a failure to connect with Cooks. And yes Gilmore did play an awesome game. -
All we have heard the past week has been how the Saints were robbed(they were). Now Gilmore held Cooks. Shd have been 1st and goal at the 1 for the Rams down 7. Instead it is not called and Goff throws an interception to Gilmore on the next play. Cheaters do appear to have all the luck.

For all you know, the team is desperate to get him traded and just put out the franchise tag news to get some to eam to bite on the 20 mill option and give them any compensation
