Did he not realize we had the Phillipses last year too and Star and still were playing Kyle a lot. What part of Kyle’s retirement did he miss?
We may still trade for a DE. Let us see.
And yet he couldn’t be kept off the field on a very good team. Just gotta trust McD on this one. He is a DB whisperer. TW, MH, JP, EJG, Levi Wallace, Taron Johnson - great track record with DBs.
In this draft besides their main positions Beane now consciously picking guys who will be ST mainstays. Joseph will likely be a younger Lorax in covering KOs.
I like it.
I have also seen him play 3 games (and he was great vs LSU). He is always going 150 miles an hour. Strangely enough that is his strength and weakness. He usually gets to his man every time but that can cause him to overshoot or be sidestepped.
Dont mistake me. I do love the pick and I did watch the tape. Did you spot the missed tackles?
Probably correctible by Bills coaches and yes I do agree he is good value.
Clearly a non issue with two high rounders / UDFAs. But might be important if one of the players is a very high draft pick.
All in all you are probably right.
I liked Omenihu and before the draft felt he would have been a nice 3rd rounder for us. Even though Omenihu has value in the 5th round no way Bills were drafting him after getting Cody Ford in Round 2.
Those two had a public twitter spat
There is a common theme to the Bills picks. Athleticism. Joseph’s raw athleticism just jumps of the tape. Just not sure about his tackling. Can it be taught at this stage?
Ford has fronted mobile QBs well. He is a technician - and is great at frustrating the lineman he is engaged with because he just doesn’t give ground. While a Jawaan Taylor can turn nasty and pancake block linemen as a Tackle he is not versatile like Ford who you can move around anywhere on the line. Ford is just solid inside or outside. His versatility gives the Bills so many options - if Long and Spain work out he goes outside. If Nsekhe and Dawkins work out well he can move inside.
The key to Ford’s game is that it is predicated upon beating the opposing lineman to the spot through sheer athleticism. And then just holding his ground. He is not super strong. That is why game tape is more important than BP reps. I have not seen a tackle pull as well as he does.
Oliver and then Ford - the athletic side on either side of the line just underwent a quantum leap. Nicely done Beane.
