Leonard Williams available for trade?
IgotBILLStopay replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The first domino from the Quinnen Williams draft decision. Would have been better if they had traded L. Williams before the draft. A team like the Bills might have been interested. Now after 6 DTs went in the first round, Jets' compensation will be limited. I am not complaining. There will be other trades the Jets make. There is no way the Jets go into the season with their current roster. Last thing Gase wants is for Maccagnan to get the credit if the Jets do well. Now if the Jets do well, he will take credit for the roster changes. If they dont, he will blame it on Maccagnan's roster build. -
Very out of the box thinking. It is a fact that Rivers sucks late season. And Lynn brought out the best in TT and appears to have some confidence in his abilities. But this idea will likely never be implemented since NFL mindset is different. You just don’t change starters midstream. But why do something so drastic? Typically, any kind of minutes restriction in the NFL will not work like in the NBA since each game and possession are so important and you want your best players out there. But at least there is some precedence. I remember the Steelers used Kordell Stewart in such a role a couple of decades ago with some success. Can you achieve the same end by utilizing TT in short yardage situations throughout the year? A relatively small fraction of the wear is “in game” usage. I suspect the reps through OTAs, TC, practice and preseason will all add up. Having TT split reps with PR without challenging the latter’s starter status appears to be a way to better implement the idea of limiting wear on PR.

Bills projected to pick 4th in 2020
IgotBILLStopay replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am pleasantly surprised someone in the national media actually felt good enough about the Bills chances to have em picking 4th instead of 1st and believes in Allen enough not to give em a QB in 2020 draft. -

Bills Drafted Starter Outlook

fixed it for ya:) -
Disagree that the following 3 guys are in danger. 1. Croom's GF is Ms. Pegula 2. Teller is Josh Allen's best friend on the team 3. Bojo is the best punter we got 4. 60-40 on McCoy making the roster 5. 50-50 on Bush making the roster DiMarco, Lewis, Ducasse and Bodine are goners Sirles is a PS candidate

Harrison Phillips. Role model.
IgotBILLStopay replied to Codyny13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was also the first to embrace Ed Oliver's coming. -
The sack is not Ford's fault at all. He had Jennings blocked. Murray just happened to run within reach of Jennings. What is great about that film is that, as a RT, Ford (#74) went up against two 2020 first rounders - DT Raekwon Davis (#99) and OLB Anfernee Jennings (#33) - and more than held his own. The plays at the 7:20 mark and 10 minute mark are particularly eye opening. One can see the guard pedigree as well - the way Ford goes across the formation reminded me of a pulling Richie Incognito on the latter's best day. Excited. I think Ed Oliver and Ford will bring out the best in each other. Irresistable force against an Immovable object!

Glad this will happen (if it will) 20 days late. Otherwise, we would not have landed Ed Oliver. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001026563/article/daniel-jeremiah-2019-nfl-mock-draft-30-drew-lock-to-packers Edit: UMM maybe not - this was his updated mock http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001027778/article/daniel-jeremiah-2019-nfl-mock-draft-40-redskins-land-haskins this one reverses the DT order - has Quinnen W. over Ed Oliver

When the coach doesnt want you to draft a 3-tech DT and you still go ahead and do it .... When you did the same thing with drafting DT Leonard Williams a few years ago and then put him at EDGE all but ruining his productivity ... When you overpaid to draft Darnold basically handing the Colts continued run at the post-season in the AFC in the coming years ..... The Barr fiasco ...... When you guarantee 25 Million to a RB against an Offense oriented coach's express wishes... When you guarantee 51 Million to a LB also against the recently hired coach's express wishes...

I dont disagree with what you said about Allen being the most important - but the question was about the "addition" this offseason. Also those comparisons of Jones and Beasley are very deceptive. Jones was in for 941 snaps - Beasley was underutilized - was in for only 712. Cole Beasley had 65 catches on just 87 targets. Zay had 102 targets. All Cole's games were consequential. Zay's best game was the inconsequential last game against Miami. This is not to piss on Zay - but more to say - let us cut Cole Beasley some slack.

I had the same initial thoughts (say around last November), but have since become more accepting of the Bills' WR strategy. Here's why it might still be too early to come up with a definitive conclusion that it is a weakness. Yes Zay has not been as great as advertised - but Beane was not here when he was drafted. After Matthews was hurt (but we had serious playoff hopes) - Beane had to find a replacement on the fly - and that is why he got KB - was anyone else available? Last season was all about finding a QB - so we used up a ton of draft capital there(not helped by the 2017 playoff appearance) - not enough left for a decent WR, Our deadcap also prevented us from getting anyone halfway decent (even in FA 2018 WR market was thin with only Landry, Watkins and Robinson being halfway decent). And he does deserve credit for finding Robert Foster! So cannot really say that WR moves have been a weakness, can we? This year's draft class for WR was underwhelming - there is a reason only no WR went in the first 24 picks. So, in FA, he tried to get AB and wound up with experienced guys in Brown and Beasley. They may not have set Lake Ontario on fire - but they have a track record of being good and are nothing to sneeze at. Now Next year's WR class promises to be better - Jeudy, Johnson, Shenault, Rogers, Ruggs and Callaway all appear to be better than this year's crop. We can disagree on how good Duke can be - but the fact remains that 8-10 teams wanted Duke and Beane signed him - that is not bad, eh? Bottomline - you cant make chicken wings outa chicken sh*t. Beane appears to have done well given the hand he has been dealt (limited draft capital - need for a QB, weak 2018 FA for WR and weak 2019 Draft for WR). One can quibble about not taking up Sammy's 5th year option (the EJG trade was fine mind you - it helped get Allen and EJG helped take us to the playoffs) - but it is not clear at all that WR moves have been a big weakness for Beane. I believe moving from a top 5 of Kelvin Benjamin, Zay Jones, Andre Holmes, Jeremy Kerley & Ray-Ray McCloud to a top 5 of John Brown, Robert Foster, Zay Jones, Cole Beasley & Duke WIlliams / Roberts represents significant progress.

Cole does have sure hands but even he has not caught 62 mph zingers. I do think that he can be the X factor in a few games. But his impact is going to be critically dependent on the OL, deep threats as well as the RB performance. Also we will have to see Allen’s short game touch to see if he can exploit Cole’s strengths. I continue to believe that the most important acquisition in offense was Mitch Morse. He can allow Allen to step into the pocket and go through his progressions. Then we will know how good Allen is as a pocket QB. (He is already great as a scrambling QB). This will also give Cole and others time to do their thing - which is get open.

Could 2013 Have Been The Worst Ever Draft for QB's ??
IgotBILLStopay replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One could make an argument that 2007 was worse. Especially with a QB going #1 and being a colossal bust. 2010 was pretty bad too without a single pro bowl QB (Bradford went #1). And for the young 'uns here, check out the 1996 draft. Probably will rival 2007 and 2013. -
Expectations for Josh Allen this year
IgotBILLStopay replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perfect response! Apologies for my hasty post. I think I was a little biased because the numbers you posted appeared to be too Tyrod like. I also think Josh Allen is a competitor. He will do what it takes. I think We are going to win with him giving us 150 yards in the air in some games and 350 yards in others. That is you cannot measure his progress from just stats alone. -
Expectations for Josh Allen this year
IgotBILLStopay replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
60% completion and 220 ypg are useless if they don’t lead to wins. Just win baby!! Then we will talk stats. -
In some sub packages maybe but not very frequently. The shortest distance to the QB is from DT. If we want to exploit the twitch and Bull Rush moves to the max, need him as a 3 Tech.
