  1. I think OP is trying to say that JA has still not played enough games to be classified as practice squad ineligible
  2. Overall I think B+ is fair for the performance so far. It will be an A after 4 games if we are 4-0. Team plays hard and for each other. There are no distractions. Defense is still elite. He appears to be pressing all the right buttons (yes, even the Knox "pat"). Things to improve: End of game and just prior to halftime decisions. Half time adjustments. I havent been this sold on a coach since Son of a Bum.
  3. DTs and Nickel corner play will be critical toJerry Hughes' effectiveness. While Jerry does win his share of one on ones with outside moves, the wins can come to nought when he gets too far from a QB who steps into the pocket. If the DTS can hold their own and funnel Brady even a bit to the outside, then Hughes will be so damn effective. of course that is easier said than done against a QB who gets rid of the ball in 2 seconds. Brady's relief valve his whole career has been the quick short pass to the open spot. Jamming Edelman at the line is so important. If the DL and corners do their job then it becomes a ground + RPO game and then Edmunds Milano come into play. And last years' awful run defense vs. Pats notwithstanding, I believe it still gives us the best chance of defensive success
  4. no prior experience? what do you call all of last year? last year's TC? this year's TC? no need to make excuses for him. He is fine! He had only 3 tackles the last game since the Bills for a big chunk of the game never let the Bengals' Offensive players reach the second level.
  5. How can that be? Didn't they get the #1 QB from the 2018 draft? Weren't they favored to go to the Super Bowl just 3 weeks ago?
  6. Still too early in the. Season for blanket statements. That said, it is true that even if we lose next week, we will remain a top 6 team in the AFC. But I feel we have a decent shot at sitting on top of the AFC after week 4. Standout defense, clutch qb, electric rb, rookie gronk, things looking up.
  7. Relieved. Bit too close for my liking but JA, for all his mistakes today, is developing a reputation for being clutch!! Yet another 4th quarter game winning drive. That is all I want to take away from the game for today while I enjoy being 3-0
  8. FWIW, Marrone did go for it just before halftime in yesterday's game against the Titans. Very similar to the Bills' situation, Jags had 45 seconds left and two timeouts. They were also protecting a two touchdown lead. And while the Bills were at the 28 yard line, Jags were only at the 10 yard line. They did get a first down after two plays, took a timeout and tried another play on 1st down from the 23 yard line - then gave up with about 10-15 seconds left. This was with Gardner Minshew at QB. https://www.espn.com/nfl/playbyplay?gameId=401127859
  9. Oh, he has 'em. They are just deflated.
  10. OK I am gaga we are 2-0 and I look forward to being 3-0 this Sunday. But I do have one peeve from the Giants game. And it involves a coaching decision, not a player. We have 47 seconds left for Halftime and 2 timeouts. Ball on our 28 yard line. We kneel twice and go into the half. Going 35 yards with two timeouts and 47 seconds is certainly not impossible. With Hauschka's foot - that would be a 55 yarder - very much doable, no? Obviously I am a fan of McBeane - but the Coach gotta at least try something on first down, no? You want to be conservative - ok run on first and second down. Worst case you get nowhere. Even a 50 yard bomb on a 3rd and long with 15 seconds and one timeout left would have been fine with Allen's arm. If it gets intercepted at the Giants 22 - they aint gonna move 40 yards in 10 seconds against our defense with just one timeout (I think they may have had one - not sure). So what is there to lose? Just to put it in context: Shades of Marrone there. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2018/08/nfl-doug-pederson-rips-jaguars-coaches-patriots These are the decisions that help a team win close games. FWIW, Looks like even Marrone is learning and changing now - with that gutsy 2-point attempt at the end of the game against Houston (which was the right call). Bottomline: We dont need advanced analytics to tell us we gotta try for something there. This was a coaching miss. Hope someone asks him that in an interview. And hope he learns from it.
  11. Jokes aside, he always appears to do well early in the season. I would like to interpret our doing well against the Jets defense as a reflection of the strength of our offense (and OL in particular) rather than Bounty Williams messing up.
  12. If he is released Belichik will be all over this. Expect him to be a Patriot.
  13. Thanks for the summary + insight. Saved me a ton of time. C'mon McB - get P Matt Wile in there to at least compete with Bojo.
  14. Very Belicheatian move. Can he do a Lawyer Milloy for us in week 1?
  15. He did hv a ton of sacks against SEC competition. I would have liked him on our PS - trusting that McD and Lorax will set him straight.
  16. Not sure but check this out regarding his punting skills https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/top-10-kickers-and-punters-in-nfl-justin-tuckers-at-the-top-and-heres-who-else-made-the-list-for-2019/amp/ At this late stage he is arguably the best punter that can be had - definite upgrade over Bojo : and regarding the latter’s holding skills - all I remember from last season is the fake FG that wasn’t
  17. Less about punting - more about his holding woes. Maybe someone else can hold for Hauschka. Or If we bring him into the practice squad and try him out and then see if he works out. He couldn’t practice holds much since he hurt his thumb - but appears healthy now. The announcers in the game with the Bills - around the 70 yarder - that is why I remember
  18. Good question. Sometimes averages can deceptive since they don’t take situations into account. That being said the post above yours partly answers your question. You want a very small difference between gross and net avg. Also it is good to have punter with bombing ability - means he stand further back and won’t be blocked ( colquitt had two punts blocked last year) and he can get you out of a whole when you are pinned deep in the end zone. And Wile was considered one of the most promising young punters last year ( he is just 26/27).
  19. Ok we missed out on Colquitt and clearly McBeane are looking for an upgrade. What do you guys think about Matt Wile? The Vikes released him to sign Colquitt but I think Wile may be better. Some of you might remember his 70 yard bomb against us. Colquitt actually was #30 in net punting avg last year so not getting might be a blessing in disguise. Just saying.
  20. Just going by play on the field this movecan make both teams better. But .. Belicheat is going to get all of Bobby’s blocking schemes.... Is that worth a 6th rounder?
  21. This. Amazed everyone went defense. I think JA has a real shot despite Brady, Luck and Mahomes being in our conference.
  22. First, Rob being outa job had more to do with the disaster that was NO defense from 2013-2015 stint rather than his Buffalo stint. Let us not blame Rob for the switch to 3-4 and having Mario drop into coverage - that was all the real buffoon the year before. maybe I am in a minority - but Rob’s responsibility in his year with the Bills was Red Zone defense and he did not foo too badly there even when handed a 3-4 defense with 4-3 personnel thanks to his brother. This does not in anyway make Rob a great coach who did not deserve to sit out (see opening para about NO). Just that he was not as horrible with the Bills as has been argued.
  23. Lotsa Canadians consider the Bills to be their home team. The Bills have tried to capitalize on it in the past by having a few home games in Toronto - which I hated. One way the team doesnt have to move at all is to call it the Niagara Buffalo Bills and represent both upstate NY and Ontario. This will preclude another team muscling in on the Bills territory.

  25. Two years ago, I would have just said Good Riddance to the Rodent. But his anti-Bills bias had come down a bit recently.
