  1. NE can pretty easily create cap room. Hightower, Cannon, Sanu, Butler all have low deadcaps. Oh, and Thuney is a trade candidate - Since they didnt pay Brady 25 mill - they can very quickly move to the top 3 in terms of cap space available. And it is not that there are readymade starting jobs available for Cam and Jameis. They could do a lot worse than sign up with Belichick for a huge NE discount. nice post OP But Belichick is the most adaptible guy out there - the guy has yoyoed between a 3-4 and a 4-3 effortlessly. I dont see Jameis and Cam style being different from Brady's as a constraint. The only thing giving me pause about the Pats' chances this season is that I have a sneaky suspicion, they might Tank for Trevor. We will know for sure if Belichick trades this year's draft capital / Thuney for next year's draft capital.
  2. This article is just throwing darts without a dartboard in sight. No way is NO trading their star playmaker for a second and a fifth this year. Only if they are rebuilding - which might happen when Brees retires next year and if Taysom Hill does not work out. A more realistic option might be to work out a deal with Kareem Hunt. If the Brownies dont match, the Bills need to cough up a second rounder. Even though the above is more realistic, I dont want to do it. I'd rather draft a RB in the second or third round if I am that desperate - will come cheaper than either Kamara or Hunt and with the general devaluation of the position - I am confident we can find someone decent and ready to spell Singletary.
  3. the only 2 in the draft who would compare with Diggs are Jeudy or Lamb. the advantage with diggs is that he is more of a sure thing - there have been several top 10 busts - john ross, mike williams, corey davis, hey even sammy watkins. the disadvantage is that you don’t get the rookie pay scale with Diggs. even that disadvantage is minimized a bit since he is not paid absurdly and is under contract for 3 more years Most importantly, even if Jeudy or Lamb are ex-ante better, WE WEREN’T GETTING EITHER WITH #22 (or #18 with the other draft capital surrendered for Diggs).
  4. Redskins have no incentive to release him. his 2020 salary was originally guaranteed for injury and became guaranteed anyway on 3/17/19 since he was not released. he is only going to be released in 2021. so this topic is moot even if Smith is miraculously playing competitive football. i don’t know if OP is thinking of a trade .. but he will count as 16 mill against the cap and we don’t have that kinda cap space for a backup wb.
  5. https://www.espn.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/28612793/redskins-qb-alex-smith-very-much-lucky-alive-broken-leg His ability to play football is still an ‘If’. maybe we can revisit this when we know that he is on a field playing 11 on 11.
  6. TW gives as good as he gets. https://www.syracuse.com/buffalo-bills/2020/01/bills-tre-white-downplays-deandre-hopkins-slight-but-known-to-keep-social-media-receipts.html
  7. guys are coming around. good to see Allen has moved up from being around #35 in the eyes of these shallow analysts.
  8. good question. that is the beauty of the contracts beane has handed out. they are front loaded and very little is guaranteed even next year. for exam-le, we have 60 mill + cap space for 2021 AND can get more cap space by cutting ties with Hughes, Poyer, Butler, Addison, Jefferson, even John Brown. Cap wise we are in great shape going forward.
  9. Ngakoue or Clowney are still in play. We have the cap space for either of them. Jacksonville might be willing to take two second rounders (this year and next) or a conditional first next year along with Trent Murphy for Ngakoue. Ngakoue's trade market is drying up - all his obvious suitors (Eagles, Jets, Seahawks) have cap constraints. Titans appear to be the only team which can compete with the Bills. But they run a base 3-4 - not sure how Ngakoue will do in that. Also, Jags' OC (Jay Gruden) coached Murphy while with the Redskins and was very complimentary of Murphy even when the latter was suspended. So I am still keeping fingers crossed on Ngakoue.
  10. Why are we surprised? We have been on both sides with Richie Incognito. Richie has now done well with the Raiders. It would be such a wonderful story if Aldon Smith is able to put his life together. I understand the caution, but I am rooting for him to succeed. What a massive talent he was / is? I remember during the 2012 Super Bowl, people were saying he should have gone higher in the draft (and he had gone #7!!). That was how hood he was.
  11. They must be evaluating our roster with Matt Barkley instead of Josh Allen.?
  12. Yes we should be since I though we were a lock even with the 12 team format. This actually sucks a bit for us - since we were in the running for the top 2 seeds. This basically devalues the #2 seed. Since we have more than "reaching the playoff" aspirations, what this means is it is not just enough to win the AFC East and have the second best record in the conference. We just shoot for the #1 seed.
  13. He won’t cost em wins with his arm but... he won’t get em any either. The team will rise or fall depending on how their defense and run game perform. Let us not diss on him too much - in open competition he showed he was better than EJ Manuel but worse than Baker Mayfield.
  14. Purely based on "insider" leaks on public websites, it appears the Fins order of preference is 1. Burrow 2. Herbert 3. Tua Stated differently, a trade to one to pick Burrow or no trade and picking Herbert at #5 are more likely than a trade to #3 or #4.
  15. RIP. thank you for coming here and posting. so sorry for your loss. He will get to watch the Bills SB win from up above.
  16. Dream Scenario. 1. most imp - win superbowl 2. icing - beat brady all that cheating stuff in the op - unnecessary
  17. I think your idea stems from a desire to take advantage of a buyer's market for WRs this offseason - with a great draft group. I think that is the reason Perriman and Roby Anderson are not yet signed. But, there is no room on the roster to sign another FA WR. Now, if they manage to trade Duke, Foster or even Beasley .....
  18. can easily release / restructure Murphy if Beane wishes to break the bank for Ngakoue or Clowney. our cap situation is pretty solid.
  19. Nice. Although 2016 was the season (before Belichick signed Gilmore) where we went 1-1 in games that mattered.
  20. OMG. That was hilarious. I am hoping it is Brady. Since the referees dont wear helmets - they are always scared of Brady's threats to kiss them.
  21. One step closer to a comp pick:)
  22. This play on MNF spelt an end to O'Lear's Dolphins career.
  23. True that. I dont think there was an effort problem. His trouble was latching on to passes. Maybe he needs this:
  24. Umm... Who Dat Nation : "Say What?" That being said, they will certainly be extremely competitive.
  25. Gruden / Mayock want to play golf with the Legend (his grandpa is Jack Nicklaus). Otherwise this signing makes no sense.
