Stepon Diggs open letter to his little brother.
IgotBILLStopay replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While a definite steal, it is not totally unlikely the Bills get him at #54. Trevon excels in a zone coverage scheme (and is regarded as average in man coverage) and there are only a handful of teams who commit to it as much as McD's defenses. So Trevon may not be as good of a fit for other team defenses. -
Beane has traded up 5 times in 2 drafts.
IgotBILLStopay replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even in the two Bills' drafts prior to Beane's, there were 2nd round trade-ups. To acquire Reggie Ragland, Dion Dawkins and Zay Jones. So it may not be Beane, but something in the Buffalo water. If there is one thing, we learn from TBD mocks, it is how much of a crapshoot the draft actually is - especially below round 1. While the Allen and Edmunds round 1 trade ups were significant (especially given the value + need), jury is still out regarding the round 2 and beyond trade ups. Cody Ford was actually a very minor tradeup. Both Jones and Ragland were major misses. -
Nice topic OP. Please do remind us to revisit this thread after the next season. My red star list: WR: Tyler Johnson, Darnell Mooney DL: Josh Uche, Bradlee Anae, Terrel Lewis OL: John Simpson, Cameron Clark, Darryl Williams RB: Darius Bradwell, Antonio Gibson, Lamical Perine TE: Okwuegbunam QB: James Morgan LB: Michael Divinity, Willie Gay, Joe Bachie S / CB: Julian Blackmon, Darnay Holmes, Reggie Robinson (not including Dugger and Chinn here since they will likely go higher - but they might be underrated even there)

1. His contract - two years on the cheap (since TB paid his signing bonus already). 1.5 mill this year and 2 mill next year. 2. His production - GP REC TGTS YDS AVG TD LNG FD FUM LST 14 26 39 432 16.6 6 58 19 3 2 10 34 48 565 16.6 5 75 28 0 0 14 34 53 459 13.5 1 33 23 1 1 38 94 140 1,456 15.5 12 75 70 4 3 He was pretty good in 2018 and OK in 2019. Certainly worth the contract. 3. Possible Compensation to TB - I am guessing it would take a 4th rounder at least - and I think that is worth it. 4. Cut Lee Smith and make him an asst. coach. this is the year we have an out on his contract - will save on cap - 2 mill that will more than pay OJ Howard's salary Bottomline - Beane Get him in!! Edit: Dammit The Pats got him in exchange for Gronk. Belichik doesnt miss out on these opportunities. I was just getting excited. Sry guys I created an unnecessary thread. Edit 2: Maybe not was misled by a wrong sportsline heading. OJ Howard still appears available. Yay!

Nice topic We will have a mix of starters with a bunch of guys earning market wage, a few free agency steals and a few on the rookie scale. The key point is that this mix will keep changing. Now we have money tied up on the D-line and WR positions and very little on CB / QB. Subsequently, we will have to pay the CBs and QB and might have to rely on FA steals and rookie scale to fit things into the cap. Of course, we can always push cap hits into the future by reworking deals to maintain a dynasty and relying on the cap increasing (like with the Pats). We have hit on our draft picks the past 3 years and will have to shell out moolah going forward. The saving grace for us is that the cap is likely to go up right around the time Allen & Co are ready for their second contract - that should ease the burden a bit. So till our rookies get to the second level - we pay big money to D line [Hughes, Addison, Lotueilei, Jefferson, Murphy - still think he will take a paycut]. Nice thing is all these big contracts are short term. We also have Mitch Morse and Diggs making big money. In the transition period, we some guys off the D-line (& Morse) come off from big money and, in a staggered fashion, Milano (1), Dawkins (1), Tre (1), Edmunds (2), Harry (2), Allen (2), Oliver (3), Ford (3), Knox (3) start getting paid when (not if) they enjoy continued success on the field. Didnt include Motor, Fournette etc. since this side of Saquan and CMC, no RB is going to be paid big bucks. Tre, Edmunds, Allen and Oliver will likely command top 5 money at their positions. Milano, Dawkins, Ford, Knox will likely get top 15 money for their positions and Harry may get top backup money. So 3 years from now - I expect to see Diggs, Milano, Dawkins, Tre, Edmunds, Harry, Allen, Oliver, Ford, Knox and a couple of other FAs make significant money. Hopefully, we would have drafted some D-linemen, Olinemen, CBs, Safeties and WRs and keep those on a rookie scale as well.

All Gunner's Draft stuff 2020 edition...
IgotBILLStopay replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice compilation. I would have ranked Henderson (CB), McKinney (Safety), Jefferson (WR), Isiah Wilson (OL) & Epenesa (DE) higher and put Herbert ahead of Love. -
no idea where this came from. If it is anything more than a 4th rounder, I am not interested. This draft is very deep in RBs. That said, Fournette is a different kinda runner than Motor and can pick up the really difficult 1 or 2 power yards. Edit: Maybe have a package deal for Fournette and Ngakoue - solve both our needs with one trade.

You are probably right. I guess one can always be the bigger man - but no team should allow a false narrative on social media to remain. And he was specifically called out by Ngakoe. That said, Khan's tweets will probably be deleted (which will be stupid). -

They aint going to give away Ngakoue. Reading between the lines - it appears that some team - Seahawks or Eagles most likely - has made a lowball offer which Ngakoue camp would like the Jags to take. I may be in the minority here - but Tony Khan is talking sense. Tony Khan was specifically called out by Ngakoue. Tony has been polite yet sensible in his reply. If players can use social media to spin a narrative, the team can do the same. -
At 54 the Bills will take? Your guess here!!
IgotBILLStopay replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Round 2: DE - Terrell Lewis (if healthy) As an underclassman, Lewis was giving last year's first rounder Jonah Williams fits in practice. I also like Uche - but am hoping we can get him in round 3 if we dont go DE in round 2. -
SMH @ these national pundits 1. There will be a lot more trades. 49ers, colts, bucs, seahawks, vikes also likely involved in trades. 2. Miami now unsure about Herbert. still possible they go Tua. 3. No way Herbert / Tua slip past #7. 4. Becton not going to Jets at 11. If Wills / Thomas / Wirfs are gone, Jets will go WR. Rookie GM will never pick a guy who has been flagged. 5. No way Minny goes Diggs. C’mon. 6. Jordan Love will go first round.

Trade proposal (Jags/Jets, not Bills)
IgotBILLStopay replied to Dkollidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
if the Bills aren’t trading for Ngakoue, i’d rather have both teams trade the players for 2nd round draft picks to the NFC -
EJ had the physical tools. He had all the throws. I had 3 problems with him: 1. He got rattled easily (the interview shows that). You never want the confidence shaken. That whole Fantex initiative, while smart for the player monetarily, screamed to me that he was not sure of his own abilities / earnings and was trying to hedge his bets. 2. He was a bit slow with his reads. 3. Most importantly, he was not a gamer - not a competitor like Allen. Allen wants it - could never see it in Manuel. While 2 was fixable with more gametime reps, ultimately 1 and 3 do appear a bit innate. That being said, I would have liked to have seen him throw to Sammy more - I felt they were developing a connection. Marrone never believed in EJ and hated the Sammy trade up because he wanted that 2015 first rounder for a QB. Combine Marrone's position with the EJ shortcoming #1 above - and one can see that EJ was set up for failure.

Useless Roster Trivia one week before the draft
IgotBILLStopay replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was the absolute worst year for QB draftees - I don’t want to give it away - so will just say that it is someone we know well and he has 6033 career yards ? If you include UDFAs, it is an AFCE QB the Bills have faced and he has 7597 career yards.
