  1. A lil nervous about these interviews - why disclose your thought process? Why talk about things that are tough for you to do? Just giving opponents some ammo, no? Does anyone remember Belichick asking Tre how he made a particular play and Tre told him?
  2. hoping he gets 1000 yards on the jets with 500 carries. win win win all round - jets lose to bills, get a better draft pick, get to celebrate gore reaching milestones and gore gets another 1000 yates season which might make his hof credentials stronger
  3. oh I am talking after we fell behind 16-19. Didn’t JA’s drives bring us to the Texans 25, 28 and 42 yard line and put us in scoring position (esp. the first two drives)? That shows he is a gamer without quit. There is a reason he leads the league in game winning drives the past two years. He is not perfect as you note. I was just pointing out the heart part of his game.
  4. Tanzel Smart starred for an offensively challenged Tulane team with two different head coaches and made the games competitive. The guy was an absolute stud at the collegiate level. Was under drafted. So that is a “smart” pickup.
  5. my bad. just saw pees and belichik before rushing to,post. did not see martindale.
  6. yoo-hoo old timer. those are not active DCs anymore no? FYI - Rex Ryan adds himself to that list as well.
  7. Donald is a 3-tech. KC is an NT. can’t compare stats between the two. kinda like ed oliver’s sack total coming outa college. Ed Oliver won the Outland trophy (best lineman in college) in 2017 with just 5.5 sacks since he played NT.
  8. 1. KC is not just any NT. He is the one of the best run stoppers in the league. 2.More importantly he is the best interior pass disruptor from the 3-4 NT position. Bills fans know Ted Washington as one of the better pocket collapsing NTs but Ted never got more than 4.5 sacks in any season and totaled 34.5 sacks for his whole career which was considered fantastic for a 3-4 NT. KC has 6 sacks in each of the last two years- and again out of a 3-4 NT space eater position!!! 3. He is now widely considered, similar to Donald, Mack, Watt and Miller, the prototype for that position. That is way more than just being the best player at the position. 4. And, unlike Tre he is a 2016 draftee playing on a 5th year option this year. 5. this is not to piss on Tre’s abilities at all- i consider him an elite talent - if he is willing to wait till next offseason give him the money by all means. Bills take on huge risks in extending a player to big bucks with 2 yrs left (see Gurley).
  9. nice post. bottom line - too early to crown us AFCE champs. we are looking good but they gotta do it on the field. that said may i present a minor extension (using magnitudes that reflect importance of trait and size of impact on the result) to your analysis - we are X pats are O 1.) QB Rushing: Advantage Bills/ Allen. XX very nice touch to include this dimension separately - i think this will be the difference between winning and losing 2.) System Knowledge: Advantage Bills/Allen. X Belichik will hv Cam ready enough for this not to be a huge difference 3.) Coaching: Advantage Pats/Cam. OO Belichick as an in game coach relative to McD 4.) Receiving Corps: Advantage Bills/Allen. XX kinda affected by no. 7 - otherwise diggs and co are far superior 5.) Running Backs: Advantage Pats/Cam. OO i agree Michel / White are superior and hv more familiarity with their system 6.) Offensive Line: Advantage Pats/Cam. O smaller advantage since scrambling qbs can negate the effect of both good and bad olines 7.) QB Passing: Advantage Pats/Cam. O difference is not OO because it is affected by no. 4. also how good is cam’s shoulder and his post rust timing? 8.) Defense: Advantage Bills/Allen. X based off last year this shd be an OO (and against any other opponent will at least be XX) but Pats opt outs will hurt em a bit 9.) Intangibles - QB heart Advantage Bills / Allen. X JA is a gamer who can will a team to a win down the stretch. Amazing how after we fell behind in the playoff game - he kept us in it drive after drive. 7-6 good guys
  10. greggo has a point. he has made a name for himself as the ‘multiple’ defense guru while seattle plays the plain vanilla, albeit cover 3 defense. if adams can’t play at an elite level as a single safety like earl thomas did for them, it is going to be a long frustrating season for him. the saving grace is that initial sound vibes outa seattle indicate they intend to also deploy adams near the los where he really shines
  11. I think when they sign him will factor into the price. If he were an impending free agent, the signing price will be different than if he is safely under contract for additional years. If the Bills offer Tre 20 mill AAV, he will sign today. There are so many uncertainties with injuries etc. Slay, Jones etc. were free agents. Tre is not. That being said, I dont disagree that even if he signs now, he will command 80-85 mill over 5 years which will be close to the record. He is that good. The only debate was whether he will get 100 mill if extended this offseason and I doubt that. (see above post as well)
  12. I think you are misunderstanding what I am saying and are actually making my argument. The *only* reason for the Bills to sign Tre early is if they get a discount. They are in no danger of losing Tre to another team because of the 5th year option. So in effect, you are agreeing with me that other than getting a discount, there is no reason for the Bills to extend Tre early. That discount is the reason I was expecting a contract south of 18 mill AAV if Tre is signed early. When you expect a 20 mill AAV for Tre, was that after the discount or was that fair AAV? If 20 mill is fair AAV, why should Bills extend him now? With the cap expected to decline next year, they can wait.
  13. I think you mean "No incentive for Beane to sign Tre to an extension" since the Bills hold the 5th year option. Because Tre has all the incentives to secure his future with multi-generation life changing money - why do you think Ramsey / Adams etc. are acting like spoilt children? They want their Brinks trucks now.
  14. Slay with 16.683 mill AAV and Jones with 16.5 AAV are the current record holders. Jones has current CB record at 5 yrs 82,5 mill, no? yes Tre will likely set a record but it wont go up by 3 mill a year. usual trend is for the player to beat it by about 0.5 - 1 mill. Also Bills in no hurry since there is a 5th year option. So Tre will likely give in a little to secure his future - I think they will come in at 5 yrs 80-85 mill not 5 yrs 100 mill if there is an extension this offseason. But of course I have been known to be wrong. a lot:)
  15. Tre 5 yrs 80-85 mill is likely next. Milano is a tricky one - he is great for us - but may not do so well in another system - so how much do you pay him? I think we will likely come with a 4yr 52-60 million extension for him as well. So I am going to guess the order will be: 1. Tre 2. Milano 3. Beane and then we are done. No hurry to extend Allen / Edmunds till next offseason.
  16. My max estimate was a 4 year 58 mill deal (making him tied for 5th in the league) with 30 mill guaranteed. Came in at the higher end - but it is a number we can easily live with if we get the 2017 or 2019 Dion - not so much if we get the 2018 version. All in all appears a fair deal - didnt come cheap but did not break the bank either. C'mon people stop complaining about this deal - see what Tunsil got. This will look darn good in 2024 so long as Dion stays healthy. Now onto Tre - 5yrs 80-85 mill anyone?
  17. I dont disagree with what you say and am actually quite optimistic on his long term outlook. I did given him a 20% chance to win the job. Here are the things going against Bass winning the job on opening day a. Rookie kickers do take time to find consistency in the NFL - and it will be harder without a full TC and preseason games b. Hauschka is pretty decent himself - so Bass will have to demonstrate superiority over a decent player c. Bass is yet show prowess in inclement weather - he has only kicked in good conditions till now d. His FG accuracy declined from 90+ percent in 2018 to 71.4% in 2019, which is the one red flag I have on him
  18. Will Bass win the job? Even with a full TC, it was unlikely he beats out Haush-Money. Haushka was the ONE Bills star of the playoff game vs. Houston. Bass was *only* a 6th rounder - typically 4th round and before kickers are penciled in as starters. Haush has to really screw up in practice / the early games or be injured for Bass to make the 53 this season. And with players being harder to sign off the PS this season - Bass should be safe. That said - there is a reason Bass was drafted - the Bills do not have faith in Haush from beyond 50 yards - that was reflected in their play choices down the playoff game stretch. And Bass' forte is the long kicks - but has to show more consistency. If Bass consistently outkicks Haush, I dont think McD will hesitate to go with the rookie in games. Bottomline: I think it is 80-20 that we go with Haushka to open the season. Next season is a completely different matter. Bass is cost controlled and has had a full year and Haush costs money - so it is 80-20 that Haush is let go next season. How will the team simulate games / pressure in a way that they can comfortably decide to go with the rookie ? Coaches do that all the time - make the granting of teammates wishes' (like practice exemptions) depend on the outcome of the kicks - no worse feeling than letting your teammates down. And the Bills can always play Renegade loudly on their speakers. Do they toss Bass on the practice squad ? Yes - see above. If they pick Bass, do they try to keep Hauschka on the practice squad and protect him as insurance ? Haushka cannot go on the PS. It will be IR. Teams have previously delayed releasing vets by placing em on IR - though the league frowns upon this practice - any football player will have nicks. Belichick used that trick last season - he delayed releasing Josh Gordon by placing him on the IR. Players usually go along with the team's wishes though there have been a few vocal protests which the league has responded by fining the team.
  19. Man that was super harsh on D'haquille. He was the only guy getting consistent separation in the playoff game when the rubber hit the road. There was a reason Allen threw to him 10 times in the game and just 4 times each to Brown and Beasley. Young JA would like to retrya couple of those throws back if he can. And the no-catch before halftime was not a - Knox type gimme drop - it was tough. I still think if the Bills keep 7 WR, Duke makes the team - Diggs, Brown, Beasley, Davis, McKenzie, Roberts & Duke with Hodges and Foster going to the PS. I wouldnt be surprised if the Bills flipped one of the WRs for a draft pick in the next couple of weeks.
  20. Not so sure. If this was 2018 or 2019, I'd agree. We are contenders and have a narrow window to load up when we have a franchise QB on a rookie deal. If there are difference makers out there who can put us over the top, I'd say go for it - like say KC getting Watkins and Frank Clark. They overpaid for Sammy - but he did help them to a championships. Of course they have to be the right difference makers - but that is why Beane makes the big bucks.
  21. was very impressed - this guy works hard at his craft and will do what it takes to win. the only point where he had the snake oil salesman false charm was when he was talking about his new contract - he was unhappy about the contract in Minny and knew the tweak was in the works but answered kinda nonchalantly. would have liked it if he had honestly said Bills tweaked contract.
  22. was expected. Diggs’ two main complaints in Minnesota (9reading between the lines) were a. shift to a run heavy offense that ignored him early in the season b. underpaid in terms of guaranteed money you don’t give up a first round pick for a player you wouldn’t keep next season or two - so why not add the guaranteed amt - keep the player happy and add to the flexibility in 2022-23
  23. That’s quite alright. We building a dynasty - so several more chances to get in the stadium and cheer - happy to watch the revival on TV.
  24. FWIW, my comment was pure conjecture. My apologies if the post conveyed otherwise. I thought he played decently last year and given the Feliciano injury, had become even more important to the Bills plans. Basically I cant think of another reason to release him at this juncture - pre-release I had him pegged at #2 Center behind Morse - it might have been the 2.3 mill smackeroos - but while no chump change - it is still not ginormous. It might have been Bates or someone else climbing the depth chart - but the players have not really played football and are primarily doing conditioning work - so it seems reasonable that it may have been an "out of shape" issue like with Karlos Williams a few years ago.
