  1. Brian Winters was a lil sloppy at times. But other than that - the OL appears to be gelling well. Am happy with their play - especially the interior - Donald was a beast and, for the most part, they (and a scrambling Allen) kept him at bay.
  2. Pass rush visibly tired in second half. Conditioning will improve game by game. But long term we have to get younger. We are taking a DE in the first round in 2021. LB discipline needs to improve - can’t have Edmunds biting and overpursuing on every fake. But I am not worried. Two years ago we faced the same situation and McD was able to fix it in-season. I bet we will hear just two words in every interview the next week - Lane Integrity Lane Integrity Lane Integrity.
  3. That is correct. The Steelers suggested changing the rule, but the rest of the NFL did not agree. So cannot call horse collar on a RB in the tackle box or a QB in the pocket. That was the correct no call. https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nfl-video-rulebook/horse-collar/
  4. That is correct. The Steelers suggested changing the rule, but the rest of the NFL did not agree. So cannot call horse collar on a RB in the tackle box or a QB in the pocket. That was the correct no call. Edit: That was responding to the no horse collar call
  5. Josh Allen, Gabe Davis, Cole Beasley, Motor, the TEs, Bojo, Bass and the Oline should all get game balls. Matt Milano, Levi Wallace and Dr. Poyer and Mr. Hyde were fine. Pass rush was ok in the first half. Edmunds was the lone goat.
  6. Totally agree that Edmunds was a goat today. He bit on the fake so many times and over pursued - that led to Woods having a field day! Reminded me of the first three halves in 2 games of the 2018 season when the QBs manipulated Edmunds easily. He needs to have more discipline.
  7. Believe in Josh Comeback Kid! third successive 300 yard game
  8. Is McD playing games or does this mean Milano is doubtful? Lacey is an OLB - so cant be in there to spell Edmunds / Dodson.
  9. some truth since we are in the AFC East (with Pats twice) and face the AFC West and NFC west. But I think SOS based on last season's rankings is a little misleading. SFO, Jets, Pats, even Broncos and Chargers may not be as strong as last season.
  10. 1.Talent, not yet 2. Coaching Acumen? Gase? No. 3. Gore. We loved him for his worth ethic and positive influence. His performance on the field - not so much 4. Flacco - see 1. above - who will he throw to? and who will protect him. OL minus Becton is very substandard. At this point, I must agree with you on one thing - I too am rooting for the Jets to win a few here and there - dont want them with a top 5 pick next year. they have to "pass" on the running game. they rung their own "bell" with no real RB depth after Bell.
  11. clickable link https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/is-josh-allen-actually-good-now/ Another negative nancy who confuses beliefs and preferences. Everyone who has something negative to say about Allen uses the argument that the Dolphins and Jets suck. First, this is early in the year with too small a sample. If the Bills did well, their opponents, by construction, have to suck. Cant use their bad performance when facing Allen to make the argument that Allen is not strong enough since they are weak teams. Second, the Dolphins (who are supposedly so bad) just walloped the Jaguars, who walloped the Colts ... so who is weak now?
  12. technically, we dont know if it works. We do not have counterfactuals:) kinda similar to Jim Tressel's sweater vests - his results were great - but cant say they were due to the sweater vests
  13. i meant ‘with hindsight” not at draft time. so Ramsey was right in his assessment about Jackson relative to a lot of guys working for nfl teams.
  14. wouldn’t be upset if fins win this one - i like fitz and don’t want the fins with a top 5 pick next year.
  15. FWIW, Bills fans aside, most NFL observers will agree that Jackson shd have gone before Josh - so Ramsey was right about Jackson being drafted lower than he shd have been. That being said, rest of what he said in GQ was complete trash. He looked up Josh’s box scores and not who he was playing with at Wyoming.
  16. It is not a stretch that these two are the top young coaches in the league. Both got their first head coaching gigs in 2017 and have been remarkably successful in their short time at the Bills and Rams, respectively. One is regarded as a defensive genius and the other an offensive one. Here is the last time they faced each other: MNF - December 2016 - and there are parallels to Sunday's game. Carolina had a strong armed QB, a certain Cam Newton. Carolina was missing MLB Luke Keuchly (was inactive). Redskins with McVay as the OC was an offensive juggernaut - Cousins throwing for nearly 5000 yards that season with Desean Jackson and Pierre Garcon going for over 1000 yards and our other familiar friend Jamison Crowder getting 800+ yards. And the Redskins controlled their own playoff destiny. And yet, McD's defense held them to a measly 15 points as Carolina got the win. Jonathan Stewart rushed for 132 yards - but analyzing Carolina's offense vs. Washington's defense does not make sense since we are only looking at McD vs. McVay. Carolina had just one sack, but did have two FRs and an INT. Most importantly, McD held McVay to 29 yards rushing. I think McD needs to do a similar job on Henderson and Brown for us to win. https://www.espn.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=400874716 Bills did beat the Rams in 2016 30-19 but neither McD nor McVay were coaching the teams.
  17. dream sequence: get a 28 point lead quickly, then rest all these players in the second half
  18. That is the national narrative. Why cant these guys come out and admit the Bills offense did well? Bills rack up yards and TDs, why does it have to be that the opponent did badly? As you say, time will tell. If we do well against the Rams, will it be about our great offense or their bad defense? Miami had a completely different scheme after watching the Bills offense carve up the jets in the first half of game 1. And yet, Daboll adjusted to the new scheme and devised all those great crossing routes and the offense did not miss a beat. I guess our 17 year drought has made losing to the Bills viewed like the Globetrotters losing to the Generals.
  19. Spain needs to shape up a bit, but the others have been fabulous so far. And despite the Jets' woes on the offensive side, they are / were a very decent defense with a stout front line.
  20. Nice article. It highlights why Allen's arm strength is such a plus. It can make up that extra fraction of a second of indecision - like on the Brown touchdown pass. He checked left, checked right than left again before throwing. Once he gets more confident he will realize he is not "crossing the road" here and can trust his first read and throw to the left after checking right. In the meanwhile, that pass can still get to the receiver on time despite the extra fraction of a second. After replaying each of JA's throws, I agree that the Gabe Davis TD was the throw of the day. Unlike the Brown TD above - there was no indecision at all. Scrambling to buy time, full anticipation (something Allen was not known for when he came out), and threw it where only his receiver could get it - cant ask more from any QB - and Gabe Davis made the catch of the day. The more one looks at the angle, Allen could not really throw closer to Davis since he had to beat the DB - so he threw it into the tightest window possible - and again the arm strength helped him beat the DB.
  21. Watson and Jackson want in. But hey, I love the thought.
  22. I think Hughes numbers are a bit deceptive. He does win but takes such a long path outside that the QB can step in and throw in time. I have always felt Hughes shd mix it up a bit and not use the outside move every time. Murphy is the real surprise here. WTG Trent!
  23. I think when we play Seattle, we have a chance to change the narrative a little bit. If our Defense can limit Wilson and Allen keeps firing, that is when Allen has a real shot at climbing relative to WIlson.
  24. When Murray runs, he is expanding people's horizons about what a QB can do. When Allen runs, he is not being a QB.:(
  25. https://www.actionnetwork.com/nfl/updated-2020-nfl-mvp-odds-tracker To my knowledge, this is the highest a Bills player has been in quite a while. Top 10: 1. Wilson 2. Mahomes 3. Jackson 4. Rodgers 5. Murray 6. Prescott 7. Brees 8. Roethlisberger 9. (tie) Allen & Newton I am an efficient markets guy for the most part. So, Brees was the headscratcher - 472 yards, 1-1 record, 3 TD, 1 INT through 2 games before I realized why betters are still flocking to him. Both he and Cam are compelling stories - Brees' farewell tour and Cam's comeback. Those stories can resonate with MVP voters if they are in the mix. That leaves Big Ben as the headscratcher.
