Has to be a Garoppolo trade. Unless Kraft paid Caserio under the table or promised him a massage parlor experience.

will be a no brainer pickup actually if we can get him for Josh Norman money. He can help with the return game as well. He is a great cover corner - struggles a bit in press coverage - but McD defense does not really feature that much. This is a match made in heaven so long as he has fully recovered from his injury (seems like that).

So Obada came into the NFL on the International Pathway Program (like Christian Wade) and so far, has been the only one of those players to make it to an active roster. He played last two seasons for Carolina - so Beane is likely familiar with him. The Carolina connection makes him pretty much automatically a Beane consideration. He is versatile and can line up inside or outside. He had 5.5 sacks last year despite only starting 1 game and playing less than 40% of the snaps. FWIW, that sack number would have led the Bills last year. I guess as of now he is a rotational guy but still only 28 and maybe ready to make a 3rd year leap. I watched his tape and he appears decent at everything that a defensive lineman should do - except I thought he looked a little stuff. He may be the kind of bargain priced signing Beane can pull off. Edit: Signed 3/24. Yay!!

Tonyan Given 2nd rnd tender, should bills offer?

not at the cost of a 2nd rounder and at 6 mill per. Might as well draft Freiermuth in round 2, no? -
What about Xavier Rhodes (CB)
IgotBILLStopay replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is perfect for McD's zone coverage. I have been advocating getting him forever. Let us get both Rhodes and Justin Houston in the fold in the next few days (hopefully all the teams have spent their dollars and will leave us with relative bargains). -
John Ross as WR replacement for JohnBrown

That is an interesting out of the box thought - though you may want to edit the post since we want someone with Tyreek’s speed not Tyrone’s -
Daniele Hunter - keep an eye out for him. He removed all Vikings reference from his twitter and has been liking tweets from people saying he should be traded. We do have the draft capital to trade for Hunter and Beane and Spielman have done business together that was a win win. That was a freak injury and technicaly he did not even need surgery. There was some resentment from the Vikings that he opted for the surgery and there is a feeling he did it because he felt he was being underpaid. Zimmer dismissed it initially as just a tweak.

Can someone explain to me the Pats strategy?
IgotBILLStopay replied to appoo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am going to assume this is a serious question. He is big and athletic. If you put a safety on him, he will overpower him and if you put a LB, he will run by him. And he is a great end zone target. If he can get 7 tds with Tannehill throwing to him in a Derrick Henry centered offense, you know Belichick can get at least that out of him. He scored twice against the Bills. And lest I forget, he is a pretty decent unselfish blocker as well. Bottomline now that he is a Pat, I know there is an incentive to diminish his abilities and I hope he comes short but he was by far the best TE FA. I had a faint hope Bills could get him. I suspect he got a great deal precisely because many teams including the Bills wanted him and the Pats had to outbid all of em. -

All about mismatches on offense - Jonnu Smith gives them a mismatch in every game to try and exploit like they had with Gronk. And given their clear shortcomings in the passing game - they are shoring up the power run game with Trent Brown. On Defense, they are actually similar to us in strategy where the scheme fit is paramount (their scheme features more man to man because of Gilmore). The idea is to be adequate on Offense with few mistakes and have an elite defense I think. -
Jets to sign Lions LB Jarrad Davis 1 yr $7M

More worried about them signing Trey Hendrickson -
Great - that means Bills will pay less than that for Hendrickson if they dont get Danielle Hunter.

Danielle Hunter perfect trade target
IgotBILLStopay replied to Gambit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Easy peasy. Restructure Diggs and / or Tre White. We have the franchise QB on a rookie deal - now Is the time to get aggressive and land a game changing pass rusher. Get it done, Beane!! -
Bucs resign Shaq Barrett 4 years up to 72M
IgotBILLStopay replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This sets the upper limit for what a top level DE will earn this year (18 mill) - which is less than years past. The floor was set at 13 million with the Okwara signing. Now Judon, Dupree, Hendrickson, Ngakoue will all come in somewhere in-between if they are signed in the next week. -
KC 3 top players taking pay cut
IgotBILLStopay replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We can. See this thread where I argue that the salary cap is not really a constraint for us. -
"Everything Starts with Josh Allen. Gunslinger. Gets the ball out quick and moves around the pocket well. And he has weapons around him. And made a huge progression. So to stop the Bills, you gotta stop Josh Allen. Having Diggs made it harder. Arm talent Mahomes and Allen are similar. Mahomes elite arm talent and I wont say Allen does not have the same thing. Different offenses but similar arm talent. Bills arent afraid to throw the ball." Tells you Baltimore was just not scared of Bills running the ball at all (they ran it twice in the first half). Appears their plan was to sell out against the pass - both pressuring the QB and blanket coverage with the run being ignored altogether. About Lamar Jackson: "excellent work ethic. still has things to work on - but he will get there. Great football player but a greater guy". All in all, not terribly insightful - but I liked the Allen / Mahomes comparison and it is clear Bills need to shore up the run game to keep defenses honest.

Bills a rumored suitor for Kareem Hunt trade
IgotBILLStopay replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have been begging for a Kareem Hunt signing / trade forever. Make it happen Beaner! Instant upgrade at RB at a reasonable price! Wonder why the Browns do it though. They have tons of cap space. Draft compensation? -
After re-signing Feliciano, Milano and WIlliams and with Addison and Morse taking a pay cut, we are returning most of the major contributors from the 2020 season. John Brown was a loss, but really more of a sentimental one based on his 2019 season since Gabe Davis is ready. We did go 5-0 without Smoke. We still need to re-sign or replace Murphy, McKenzie, Boettger, Wallace, Bojorquez, Nsekhe and Roberts. Bojo is a no-brainer in my opinion. Beane has done well so far in re-signing our own 3 key players and getting the paycuts. But with all due respect, I am not going to go with the majority and call him a magician yet for this offseason. With the franchise QB on a rookie deal, the cap should be the least of our worries. The NFL with its voidable years trick (see Taysom Hill's new deal, for example) allows you to indefinitely kick the can down the road - so I am going to bet that we will be aggressive going after free agents even though we are up against the cap. We have 5 needs from FA / Draft a. Game Changing Edge Rusher: Judon, Dupree, Hendrickson or Lawson should be on Brane's radar with Autry being a cheaper option. I am not so sold on Von MIller. The wild card will be a trade with the Vikings for Danielle Hunter. b. CB 2: We will likely tender Levi Wallace and Dane Jackson will fight for the spot - but need to bring in someone else not named Norman to compete with these 2 for the starter spot and for depth. c. Tight End: Jonnu Smith, Hunter Henry and Robert Tonyan are the top 3 TEs and I like Tonyan for his ability to find the endzone. Ertz (at less than 5 mill), Everett or Cook might be cheaper options. Wild card will be Dallas Goedert. Why? Because the chatter is the Eagles are smitten with Kyle Pitts and wont let him fall below 6 in the draft. If so, the Bills can likely acquire Goedert in a draft day trade. d. Mauling guard to open running lanes (a la Incognito) e. RB: While I feel SIngletary / Moss combo is not bad, an upgrade may be available in the draft or FA Update 3/17: Still waiting on the above wish list. Here is the chatter / list of possibilities a. Game Changing Edge Rusher: Justin Houston, Jadeveon Clowney or Haason Reddick, with Dunlap being a cheaper option b. CB 2: Adoree Jackson or Xavier Rhodes (Cheaper option) c. Tight End: Zach Ertz and the Starting TE of any team that drafts Kyle Pitts. d. Mauling guard to open running lanes (a la Incognito): Lane Taylor, James Carpenter (just dont get Gabe Jackson) e. RB: Hunt, Fournette
