12/29/24 GAMEDAY Week 17 Bills vs Jets 1st Half Thread

I remember the talking heads going on about the 5 game stretch after the Dolphins game. Bills would be lucky to win 2 or 3 with McCaffrey coming back, that’s what they were saying. Lions and Chiefs were pretty much losses weeks before game time. Then they win 4 with the only loss probably being one of the best games of the year which Josh still up’d his odds of MVP in a loss. Watching the Bills, we all know McD tries to run the clock once they get ahead. That’s how they want to finish the games. Harbaugh is the opposite, he’s all about padding stats and always has been. They got Henry running for 160 into the 4th and then they take him out. He’s the guy that can keep the clock running. Last year when they demolished the Phins, Lamar was threw a 50 yard TD with under 2 minutes left. That’s who they are and always been. ***** a few years ago Harbaugh could have closed out a game by kneeling down but wanted to keep there rushing streak alive.

He’s one of the most aggressive players on our team…. With a D that’s looks soft on a regular basis Rapp stands out for physical play.
-
I thought last year the Bills D looked the best when it was Rapp and Hyde on the field instead of Poyer.
-
He obviously never watched a Josh Allen interview before
-
Ouch
-
I think they fall in love with just about every average player possible. The later the round drafted, the harder they fall. I’m not talking about Bernard, I actually think he’s pretty good.
-
A 12-3 record doesn’t mean there isn’t room for improvement and doesn’t mean everyone is playing good football consistently.
-
Have you watched Lamar much this year? Yeah his stats are good but his WRs are wide ***** open. Last week against the Steelers he throws a bad pick in the 4th quarter, the next play his D makes a pick 6. In the OT game against Cinci he fumbles in his own territory that led to a Bengals missed FG. They get the ball back and Henry runs them into FG position. Could you imagine if Josh made these mistakes in close games, the turnover narrative would be through the roof. With Lamar media doesn’t even talk about them
-
The only thing impressive by that performance was the Ravens D having 4 INTs. Lamar had like one scoring drive that started in Baltimores zone
-
Sounds like the D gets 4 picks on Purdy Lamar wins MVP
-
That’s what Harbaugh does. Remember when he was going for some kind of rushing record instead of running out clock at end of game last year against the dolphins they were up about 40 and Lamar was throwing bombs to the endzone with 2 minutes left
-
Apparently numbers don’t matter in MVp, look at last season. There was about 10 QBs with the same stats at him and one with about 15 more TDs
-
But he knows the system
-
I absolutely hate the pass interference call on underthrown balls. Poor pass shouldn’t give the WR an advantage and it totally does in that situation. Bills got one in Rams game I think and it’s a ***** call. DB has no chance recover there if he’s trailing. I do think where that was a short throw to the endzone that Elam gotta react better.

What’s our playoff record? In the road to the Super Bowl that’s really what matters most. Bills have one of the best teams in the league, a lot of it has to do with the guy taking the snaps. Getting to the playoffs is a standard now, and has been for a few years. What you do in the playoffs, that what counts. Last year the Bills O was on the field for close to 40 minutes against the Chiefs. Scored the most points in the playoffs against their D, but D was trash all game. People worry about the missed FG, the Bills still had timeouts in their pocket at the end to get another possession but the D folded again as usual. Against Bengals, they are down 14-0 before they even blinked their eye. In bad weather. Seems every time they play the Bengals they walk down the field for two easy TDs on first two drives. 13 second game. Nothing really has to be said here. Let’s be honest, how many turnovers, sacks and points has this team accumulated over 3 games against the Chiefs in playoffs. How want INTs? Numbers probably pretty pathetic everybody wants to forget. Against the Texans, not the Os finest moment but we had a 17 point lead heading into half. And a long ***** screen play crushed them in OT. The scheme is soft and better teams light it up. That why the playoff record doesn’t match the regular season record. -
Don’t need to be rusty either. Resting guys 1 game is fine, resting them for 2 might be pushing it. Worst thing that could happen is a slow start leads to a loss in wild card weekend Our D seems to be a liability with injuries and at full strength, need the O to be on point right from the start.

I don’t want to go into playoffs with starters not getting game time for 3 weeks

They have been trying to upgrade the front for half a decade. They drafted like 4 d lineman in the top 2 rounds, then went out and signed a 30+ edge rusher to mega deal. Bills are treading water. The same issues we had a few years ago are some of the same problems now. Every year it’s the same discussions on this board. Every ***** year. lol This scheme is always gonna be a problem against better teams. They either let a shitload of points fast, or they let up a normal amount but let the opposing team chew up clock so our O gotta sit on the bench. Both ways are hard to watch. Having average QBs complete 3rd down after 3rd down in doing a number on my hairline. -

I’m so sick of this defensive system. No way NE should come in and hold the ball for about 15 of the first 17 minutes of play and score 2 TDs. The D is a problem, it’s always been a problem in big games and games like this makes you have zero confidence in the system and the player. I honestly don’t give a ***** about injuries, sick of that excuse for this unit. -
If ok to not show everything, but looking sloppy shouldn’t be in the cards

They were down 14-0 and held the ball forever in 2 minutes into the 2nd quarter. Then they scored, and then they were in 2 minute mode at the end of the half. Basically if they didn’t play perfect out of the gate they were screwed because our D could not get off the field. 16 minutes were off the clock and NE had the ball for 14 of them and they were up 14-0. The start of the game could not of gone any worse. -
Douglas has been bad this year. Really bad
