Everybody and their dog thought we were tanking last year. I got better things to do with my time then search up old articles with media opinions.... That’s all they are, opinions. Until our coaches do their job and the players take the field no one persons word is really better then the others... I’m happy to give McCarron a shot instead of paying big bucks for a guy who only has 1 year of success. Bradford is made of glass. No one was begging asking Keemun to start last year just like Nick Foles. They were considered backups, just like a lot people got McCarron pegged to be.

Why not give McCarron an honest chance?

After 3 years of Taylor nobody remembers how important it is for the QB to play his best late in games.... -

Everybody is different, as is every situation.... If they weren’t this game would be simple. -

Had Burflct not !@#$ed up the playoff game, maybe things would of went different in Cinci for AJ.... Fact is, Lewis is happy with Dalton and AJs limited reps weren’t gonna change that. We’re about to see more of AJ, so we’ll know soon how good he really is. I’m not writing him off because he couldn’t outseat another teams franchise QB -

The Chiefs situation with Alex Smith and Mahomes is totally different. They fell in love with Mahommes and the writing was on the wall for Smith the minute he was drafted. The Bengals on the other hand had their guy in place and drafted AJ in the 5th round. -

Starting QBs are not gonna get sat when they lead their team to the playoffs year in year out. The backup gets limited reps, he may look good but he’s just not gonna get that shot unless the starter is playing flat out terrible. -

It does matter. The HC is happy with his play. 5 playoff appearances in his 7 years in the league. Lewis isn’t gonna just have an open competition at QB when he has a guy he trusts. It’s !@#$ing stupid to even think that. -

Led his team to 5 playoffs appearances. Might not of been great but he’s been a pretty consistent player in this league for years. Marvin Lewis likes him and he trusts him. -

When teams have a starting QB in place they are happy with the guy behind really doesn’t get many opportunities does he? Do you just expect guys to step on the field for the first time and be a finished product? -

Hes about to get a big opportunity with us, what he does with it is up to him. A franchise QB is found on the field not where they are drafted. Nobody is guaranteed. AJ is new to the team and their are some positives about his game that has people excited about. He had a lot of good qualities coming out of college where a lot of scouts said in time he could be a good starting QB. This could be his time. Dalton is the Bengals franchise guy, backups don’t get many opportunities when teams have a guy they can count on. -
The Giants have needed a better RB for years, I don’t think they will pass up a shot at Barkley. Only way they trade is if the Browns take him #1.

McCarron has played his position well in college and the small sample we seen with Cinci.... He has played with a lot of good players but did his job, that’s all we need him to do. He’s not here to move mountains, just to do his part. This team can go a long way with a QB who can make simple reads, some easy throws and who’ll will give the WRs a few opportunities to make plays.... A 4th quarter drive or two per season would help also. This D and MCCoy can carry us again this season. -
I have no real expectations. Just see a guy who has played his position well.
-
And it continues.... AJ has been getting blackballed since college for the talent around him. He has a lot of qualities to like as a QB. Even in his scouting report years ago their was so much to like about his strengths and then his weakness was being surrounded by talent and he seemed cocky. Now getting the same treatment here for his time on the field with the Bengals. I agree they are good players but AJ did his job as QB during those games he was forced into the starting roll. If Burflict didn’t !@#$ that playoff game we could of easily seen a change in QB for Cinci the next season. They were down 15 zip in the 4th and AJ helped them take the lead.... His other loss during the stint came in OT against the Broncos who just happened to go on to win the Super Bowl. Yeah, he’s played with quality players but he has done his part also. There is a lot to like from his time in BaMa and Cinci. If there wasn’t a QB frenzy this offseason I think we wouldn’t of been able to land him myself. FA was just filled with guys who had some success plus more time on the field. I’m eager to see what he can do.

Thats about the dumbest thing I ever heard. It’s not like every team has an open qb competition every year in TC. And Flacco and Dalton are proven players in this league.
-
Hes already proved he can throw through windows, Tyrod never done that during his college years.... Brees, Wilson and Rogers proved they could do this in college also, all of the slid in the draft.... I think we will be able to get Mayfield at 12 come the end of April, and it would be a mistake to pass him up.
-
I got no problem with a him being conservative as long as he makes some plays when needed. That was Tyrods biggest weakness. We won’t know what we got until he’s on the field. He looked pretty solid in the short stint Dalton was out, made some big plays down the stretch in that playoff game and had them in position to win. He could be more refined now after extra time on the bench.
-
If you want to talk about former WRs, their play here goes hand and hand with Taylor. Hard not to have a conversation without it. Just saying they sucked isn’t realistic because numerous had gone on to have success elsewhere.
-
All the excuses keep coming for Taylor don’t they. When these guys were on the field he still hesitated to throw them the ball.. It’s hard to judge any of Taylor’s targets on their time together. He just didn’t throw to them on a regular basis.... We only seen A.J. with quality WRs but he made quality throws, hopefully he’ll be able to get more out of these guys then Taylor has. We’re about to see and I look forward to it.
-
Peope say that every year. Our WRs success goes hand and hand with our QB. Numerous guys have left that a lot of people have complained about over the years and had more success with anothe QB besides Taylor
-
So the quality throws had nothing to do with it and it was all the WRs? He mad big plays and a lot of the catches looked effortless because of ball placement and timing. I agree we don’t have the WRs the Bengals had but you can’t knock who is making quality throws because he has good WRs..:. It’s not like they were making acrobatic catches all over the field. You been watching Taylor too much. Remember all the good WRs he had? Probably not because they left and looked better once they did.
-
A.J. was pretty solid when he got significant action, what makes you think he hasn’t Improved since then?
-
Hes super accurate and throw with a lot of anticipation. His receivers get alot of YAC. He does a great job seeing through windows despite his height. Wilson and Brees were the same way in their college days. No guarantee, but I think it will translate into the NFL
