With this O line and receiving corps, it is impossible to evaluate either NP or JA. The first quarter shows that NP can run the offense; however, a high percentage of the time, NP has been in games (LAC, Balt, Chi) that are jail breaks and he's running for his life. Not many QBs can impress under these circumstances. Finally, while NP gets a beat down for his performance in the Bears game, if it was JA, most would say that he played solid. I say NP made progress in that game, even though the best defense was sending the kitchen sink. The no hail Mary was a bone-head play. The rest was pretty good all things considered.

There are a lot of starters who would not have won the game with our O line and receivers. I'm not convinced that we can evaluate NP or JA with this offense. Every game that NP has been in has been a jail break. How can we expect a QB to do well when he's been under constant duress? Mahomes wouldn't have a chance here. Our biggest problem is not QB.

Question Regarding the QB situation
Ga boy replied to End The Drought's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gosh, we haven't seen enough of Josh to say he's not an NFL QB. I guess you don't like apple pie either. He needs to get the reps even though he has no help. I'm afraid that come January, we will not know anymore than we know today. We need to get a running game, otherwise, this kid will be running for his life when he gets back in. Not a good situation to evaluate a QB. -
Next week: BILLS 42, PATS 27!!!

Someone should text Bill and tell him that we're just re-building and he should give Tom a week off so that he rested for teams that are not re-building. -
Why the handling of the QBs wouldn't have changed anything
Ga boy replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The biggest gamble was NP being the bridge over troubled waters. Some would say Bridgewater could've been the answer, but, just wishful thinking. Coach put his hopes on NP. The miscalculation was the college-level receivers and O line. Bridgewater or anyone would be running for his life. Like in golf, we are a 18 handicapper going against a scratch golfer, and not getting enough strokes in the bet on the first tee. Let's just be happy with seeing the process get us 4 wins, and a high draft pick. -
IF they offer a 2nd, sign on the dotted line in a skinny minute. He could get hurt in the next game. He's probably only good for 8 more games max this year. It gets worst next year. We won't get anything then. The Eagles want him bad. Shady would love to go home. Call'em now. Josh needs to find friends his own age.

Trent Dilfer: "I don't think Josh Allen should be playing"
Ga boy replied to VW82's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've gotta agree with VW. Brady knows 90% of the time where the ball is going before he takes one step backward. Earlier I criticized TT for not having a mindset to throw the ball, and not ready to throw it. JA has the former but he's not ready to throw it. Going through the progressions is overblown. In summer, I argued that he must be coached to throw it in 2 secs, but it seems he hasn't been. Please teach the guy to throw it in 2 secs!!! -

Hey 59, I'll do you one better. They'll be 0-4 going into October. Hopefully, they can split the rest, but I'm not sure that they're better than Fish or Jets. If Josh is the real deal, they should win 5 or 6, but he'll have to win a couple on his own with 300 yards plus. They may get to 7 if they can get Shady going. Both of these are very questionable at this point.

Inspiration for Allen: Jim Kelly’s First Game
Ga boy replied to Jukester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Chargers will try to put Josh out of business. They will bring everything including the kitchen sink. Josh will have to take some lumps, but I think he will be able to hit on a few. He doesn't seem to be Kelly tough, so I hope the kid is still standing at the end. -
I think that they were thinking he'd be ready enough by game 6. Also, they were hoping that the O line would be better, which is now obvious that that was a huge miss. Josh isn't ready enough at this point, but they can't play NP again. NP would probably do as well as what Josh will do this Sunday, however, the fans will boo a lot less with the rookie. Just hope that Shady can run, and KB can catch; otherwise, this one could get ugly in a hurry. I do agree that Josh gives us a better chance of not going 0-4, as along as he doesn't get knocked to la-la land. Go Bills!!!

I hope the game plan is about 15 quick throws and only 3 strategically placed 25+ yard throws, and more than 30 run plays (end arounds, draws, quick counts, a whole lot of Shady hitting the hole in a hurry). Everything should be designed to frustrate the pass rush. We either win or lose 20-17. Nate will be fine as long as he doesn't have to throw more than 20xs.

Hello Mr. Turna: Let's ask the coach. I would predict he would say that NP has both earned the right and gives us the best chance to get Ws. I believe that he sees us as a 5-6 win team, and Josh will eventually get his starts. I agree that he set up the reps to give NP an advantage because he didn't see Josh as ready. He wanted to get NP ready. Very smart. NP kept giving the coaches confidence that he could handle it. Josh was up an down. Obviously, he sees something in NP.

Against Ravens, NP starts his journey to Canton … quick tosses to RBs and TEs, dupe the CBs up to the line, then go over the top to Zay … he will channel Joe Cool Montana … he will be heralded as Nate the Great … he will return the Bills to the glory days on the early 90s … not sure if he'll bring the Lombardi to OBD … I'll let you know by game 5. BTW, it's late for me, and maybe this is just a dream.

Sam Darnold Officially Named NYJ Starting QB
Ga boy replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After his off season conditioning program, I hear Peterman CAN throw that out route like a streaking missile. He's just keeping it under wraps in pre-season. Hear me now, and believe me later. -
peterman will start, always the plan

To Peterman be the glory, great things he has done.
