    the 2026 discussion is interesting...

You would assume Davis and Cooks are gone.

Healthy Palmer (fingers crossed, but can we count on that from a planning perspective?), Shakir, Shavers, Coleman (he isn't going to get cut if I'm betting, just doesn't make financial sense) and a rookie or 2? Is THAT good enough? I guess it depends on who the rookie(s) is and their impact. We aren't going to be spending in FA because we don't have the money.

Swing a trade for a disgruntled Justin Jefferson? I don't know.

this will be interesting for sure. One major problem was the commitment to Curtis Samuel. I had a look at our WR salaries on Spotrac, and we can finally cut ties with him after this season. Palmer is also a commitment, so I hope he pans out the next two years.

given how tight this team’s cap is, there’s simply no room for error on signings with considerable guaranteed money.

One throw that isn't being talked about is a throw against the 49ers in 2020, played in Arizona. At the 46 second mark. How Josh was able to get the ball over an outstretched Fred Warner and right into Gabe's breadbasket is unreal.

really fun to watch this offense, too. We couldn't run at all, but the passing game was unstoppable, haha. Really a well-rounded receiving group overall.

If anything rosenhaus is more worried the bills will hold it against him

Rosenhaus won't hold it against the bills

Look at the schefter tweet - at the end someone added something along the lines of " slay is honored an organization such as the bills would claim him"

The added quote likely wasn't from slay

agreed - the teams are always in the power position because they hold the money. The waiver system applies to all teams, and therefore we had the right to claim him. I've always found the system a bit strange to be honest, but it's the same rules for everybody.

Not until the offseason when Philly won’t even need him anymore. Slay basically has to play for Buffalo or retire no one is going to try to trade for him next year

so we would technically retain his rights for the next season if he doesn't show? I get that it doesn't seem that useful, but who knows maybe get a 7th in the end?

  5. It's true, and as annoying as it is to lose games, especially like this, teams with perfect seasons are pretty rare.... The Chiefs are 3-3 and the Ravens are 1-5, so I would say we're in okay shape right now. This team won't give up.

I am hoping it doesnt go off the rails... there has got to be a fair deal to be had by all...  but like you said.. plenty have gone wrong that started like this...

Me too. I love the player and I think his brother his pushing him to do all this. I don't think he would get his BIGGEST possible deal in Buffalo, but I do think they would give him an extension. Now it's looking doubtful, given Beane's consistency in dealing with his own players.

It was negotiated in the CBA that's why.

Right, and I understand the player's union negotiating for their players. I personally just thinks it puts them in a precarious position since it's not looked upon favorably if a player skips the voluntary workouts.

Voluntary means voluntary.  I don't understand why it's expected players attend.

I've always wondered why the players get this option to be honest, it just blurs the lines.

They're making multimillions in a sport where every competitive advantage is meaningful, so there's your answer. They're allowed to miss it technically, but it doesn't show well.

This is a nothing burger. Some ESPN AI Bot took Beane's comments, and created a click-bait article that's sure to get TBD talking and up to 50 pages.

It is actually what he said, the headline is just as dramatic as it can be. That’s the news… haha

I credit Beane’s honesty, while not throwing players under the bus, even when he doesn’t like their behavior.

I find it interesting to listen to the media like Tasker who toe the company line. It tells me exactly what the team is selling to the public. One can learn a lot by comparing that to their own analysis as well as what is heard from the small portion of national media that is competent and unbiased.

I wouldn't assess the show that way myself. I would describe it as a pro-Bills show - Chris Brown and Steve Tasker are essentially Bills fans commenting on various team-related topics. I personally think the opinions they present are their own, just Bills-positive. I'm okay with that.

When you step into main-stream sports media, it's far worse - a bunch of jackasses trying to create controversy....staged arguments or "bold predictions" meant to rile people up. I'd rather listen to Brown and Tasker and have a laugh.

Got some geezers yelling at clouds in this one...

Tom Brady also doesn't like all the randomness with jersey numbers now. Do you really want to be aligned with Tom Brady?

I remember him complaining about it. I think his reasoning was identification purposes when reading defenses.

  12. For anyone complaining -

    1. It's a one year deal for probably not that much money

    2. He was a starter in this defense all season (meaning they know what they have, and he's a reliable option)

That means - if we find a replacement, he's ideal depth. If we don't find a replacement, the spot is at least covered. Plus he's a great guy, not a bad bonus.

Have they even had discussions yet? Beane doesn’t even know the cap yet. How could he possibly begin to negotiate.

I agree with you. I just have suspicions (and they are only that), given on what we are seeing on social media from both Cook brothers. Perhaps the Bills have said "please be patient, we will make you an offer" and he isn't being patient.

  14. I can’t get behind these international games simply because of the competitive implications. Playing such a high contact intense sport jet-lagged is bad for the players. I still believe a lot of our injuries during that Jags game were linked to jet lag. Losing a home game is bad for a club.

Maybe a game in South America isn’t as bad since the players stay in the same time zone.

  15. My opinion of him has never changed

-one of the best coaches in the NFL currently

-one of the best coaches in Bills history

-the most likely coach to lead us to a Super Bowl

He has built a culture of focus, development, consistency, support, and team. That's hard to do in professional sports. He also recognizes his own flaws and shortcomings and works on them. Those are the people you want in charge. With McD & Josh Allen we have a shot at the Super Bowl every year.

Erik didn't say Brady "doesn't have the scheme to beat the defensive tendencies emerging." That's way more definitive than what he said., It implies he will never be able to handle it with his scheme, and that's way more than Erik ever said or appeared to mean.

He did say that Brady will have to do a better job scheming to beat those coverages, and that appears to be very correct to me.

Unless the Bills can learn to handle this variation they're getting, it will be a long season. I'm all but sure they'll scheme better and handle these variations better. But how much better?

Most of this group hasn't played together or with Brady before. It'll take time to smooth the rough edges, without question. Even with the edges smoothed, will they be good enough to be legitimate contenders. That's the concern.

This is my take also. This video was very helpful in breaking down what happened.

This team was getting 2 deep coverages, taking away the big play, and Brady and the FO made a strategy for that both with scheme and personnel, running the ball and going underneath. Now teams have tape on the Bills offense and came up with a new strategy, with one high and man coverage, especially since our less-than-stellar WR core can’t beat man.

This is the chess game that goes on every NFL season, where teams make game plans against other teams once they have tape.  I’m glad this is happening now, because I am certain this team will just get better from this, finding ways to counter the strategy the Ravens and Texans used.

This happens to even team, and the best ones learn and find ways to adjust.
