Bills halt contract negotiations with Cook
CheshireCT replied to Returntoglory's topic in The Stadium Wall
It is actually what he said, the headline is just as dramatic as it can be. That’s the news… haha I credit Beane’s honesty, while not throwing players under the bus, even when he doesn’t like their behavior. -
I wouldn't assess the show that way myself. I would describe it as a pro-Bills show - Chris Brown and Steve Tasker are essentially Bills fans commenting on various team-related topics. I personally think the opinions they present are their own, just Bills-positive. I'm okay with that. When you step into main-stream sports media, it's far worse - a bunch of jackasses trying to create controversy....staged arguments or "bold predictions" meant to rile people up. I'd rather listen to Brown and Tasker and have a laugh.

I remember him complaining about it. I think his reasoning was identification purposes when reading defenses.

It does help that we got Christian Benford in the 5th round of the same draft.... If he was our 1st round pick, would we be upset with the outcome? And we get his 5th back to boot. LOL

For anyone complaining - 1. It's a one year deal for probably not that much money 2. He was a starter in this defense all season (meaning they know what they have, and he's a reliable option) That means - if we find a replacement, he's ideal depth. If we don't find a replacement, the spot is at least covered. Plus he's a great guy, not a bad bonus.

Given his social media antics, one could guess him and the Bills aren't on the same page. I do wish for him to get a good and fair deal, but I hate these stupid social media games (unfollowing the Bills, removing his profile pic, etc etc etc). All that kind of behavior does is drive a wedge in the future relationship.

Gotta love all the overreactions. Everybody go to bed, tomorrow will be better. Goodnight!

I can’t get behind these international games simply because of the competitive implications. Playing such a high contact intense sport jet-lagged is bad for the players. I still believe a lot of our injuries during that Jags game were linked to jet lag. Losing a home game is bad for a club. Maybe a game in South America isn’t as bad since the players stay in the same time zone.

My opinion of him has never changed -one of the best coaches in the NFL currently -one of the best coaches in Bills history -the most likely coach to lead us to a Super Bowl He has built a culture of focus, development, consistency, support, and team. That's hard to do in professional sports. He also recognizes his own flaws and shortcomings and works on them. Those are the people you want in charge. With McD & Josh Allen we have a shot at the Super Bowl every year.

Well, given the scenario, I’m sure the lifetime ahead of self-loathing is enough punishment….

This is my take also. This video was very helpful in breaking down what happened. This team was getting 2 deep coverages, taking away the big play, and Brady and the FO made a strategy for that both with scheme and personnel, running the ball and going underneath. Now teams have tape on the Bills offense and came up with a new strategy, with one high and man coverage, especially since our less-than-stellar WR core can’t beat man. This is the chess game that goes on every NFL season, where teams make game plans against other teams once they have tape. I’m glad this is happening now, because I am certain this team will just get better from this, finding ways to counter the strategy the Ravens and Texans used. This happens to even team, and the best ones learn and find ways to adjust.

Isn't this the Buffalo Bills message board? Why are people so intent on taking pleasure in others' missteps and failures?
-
Would not be surprised at all if we trade up. If there’s a game breaking WR talent in reach, why not?

I would say a 2nd rounder is good compensation at this point in his career. The bad part of the trade is all the dead cap space. Who knows, maybe Beane is about to swing for the fences and trade up for a receiver in the draft.
